We stopped here for a snack lunch but sadly the sandwiches were poorly prepared. The bread was not of good quality and there was minimal filling in the sandwiches. We complained and were told that the chef was "off". Our bill was halved and apologies made, but it was still such a shame, on a short break, to have had... More

Service was slow at breakfast two mornings I stopped taking 25 minutes for a coffee and cooked breakfast. Rooms were still untidy after maid had been in. Bar service for drinks was a joke after having to wait to be served every time I went to the bar as there was nobody there as they were running about doing other... More

Having seen the White Swan twice recently on TV and hearing that they had the first class dining room from the RMS Orient, the Titanics sister ship, as their main restaurant I thought it would be a great place to visit. I booked it at £125.00 expecting a nice suite and bed and breakfast. When we arrived we were told... More

The hotel is in the centre of Alnwick and within walking distance of the castle and garden. The staff were very pleasant. Our room was spacious. Breakfast was freshly cooked and varied. The dining room was sumptuous. We shall return!

Sadly only able to spend one night in Alnwick at The Whire Swan. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The hotel is well furnished and spotlessly clean. Great location in the centre of town with adequate parking at rear. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Both the bedroom and bathroom were of a good size and again spotless. Dinner on the Saturday... More

After being directed to our room everything at first seemed fine until we began to unpack. Having hung clothes in the wardrobe we were then trying to put socks, underwear and smaller items away when we realised that there were no drawers in our room at all, not even in the bedside cabinets. We complained at reception and a chest... More

From the outside it isn't the most impressive but from the moment you go through the revolving door which came from the RMS Olympic it is impressive. The dining room (also from the RMS Olympic) is really impressive. Staff are very helpful, efficient and pleasant whilst the food is fresh, well presented and imaginative. Rooms are clean and well equipped... More

Stopped here one night while attending a wedding in August at Alnwick gardens. Staff where helpful and let us check in early but to the smallest room I have ever seen. The room must have been 6ft x 8ft and thats with a double bed in it. The ensuite was 3ft x 4ft. not worth £140 a night at all.... More

Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a stone's throw from Alnwick Castle and Gardens, The White Swan is a charming 300 year old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. For generations one of the North of England's primary hotels, The White Swan is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors and stained glass windows from the Titanic's sister ship. All 57 bedrooms are designed to an impeccable standard, and Hardy's Bistro, our contemporary, informal dining experience, is open all day for coffee, light lunches and an excellent bistro menu. The perfect stopover en route to Scotland, we're also your base for discovering the famous gardens at Alnwick Castle, and a tour of the very best of the North East with its unspoilt coastline, historic castles and Holy Island, Northumberland National Park and the exciting cities of Durham and Newcastle.
