Lovely restaurant beautiful interior staff excellent but food very ordinary. I had chicken Kiev , it could have come out of a Iceland . Pate fine and sticky toffee pudding very good. Great place for a drink but food better elsewhere. Would love to see a nice salad on the menu.

An excellent Sunday lunch in pleasant library area, also with excellent service. Not the cheapest, but you often get what you pay for and felt that was the case here with excellent cuts of meat cooked to perfection and no shortage of veg in terms of quantity and variety. Also great to have proper home made Yorkshires!

We had a super lunch here on a Monday in October. It was quiet which was a bit of a shame as I can imagine it’s great when it’s buzzing (apparently it’s much busier in the evenings). The staff were so welcoming and our food was delicious. The Hake with prawns/caper butter was beautifully cooked and my husband had a very nice fish pie with quails eggs. We will definitely be returning.

We had a two night stay arriving on 1st October and we were really impressed by the quality and cleanliness of the rooms, the food and the staff. Unfortunately we were subject to a rather awkward moment where locals (who were friends with the owner) were abusive and displayed completely unacceptable behaviour towards other guests and also members of staff. This is apparently a regular occurrence and I hope this review goes some way to highlighting the size of the problem to the owner. Neither guests nor staff should be subject to this type of behaviour. It ruined our stay if I am absolutely honest and disrupted the service we then had over breakfast on the Sunday morning. The owner needs to take action and listen to guests and staff and ensure the safety and experience is at the forefront.
