After visiting a few pubs and being turned away because of our 2 dogs it was a delight to find a gastro pub, with wonderful food, a warm welcome for us and our 4 legged friends, open fires and a lovely cosy pub ambience . I had pigeon breast salad - the meat was tasty and tender with just the...

Wonderful staff and really friendly place. Our room, the Gold Room boasted a super king bed, en-suite bathroom with bath and shower and was very comfortable. There is a lovely armchair with a footstool, however we had to move the footstool as it was a hazard when negotiating from bed to bath room....particularly in the dark! Food was very good,...

Stayed overnight recently mid week in February and although there was an initial mix up over our booking ( my fault !) this was quickly and easily sorted out by friendly staff. Stayed in the French Room which was a delightful mix of lovely furnishings and fabrics, extremely comfortable. Not en-suite but we had exclusive use of an equally lovely...

Warning was 7.30 Saturday night and restaurant empty. We hadn't been for some time and had had good meals and atmosphere here previously , not this time. Very friendly staff and we all had different dishes. Almost to a man main courses were poor , despite a well thought restricted menu. We'll have to wait for better reviews or grapevine...

My husband and I stayed here in January, we had never traveled to this neck of the woods before, and loved every minute. It was out of season, and everything was shut, but there were plenty of great walks to keep us busy. We rarely stay in pubs, opting for B&B's or hotels so this was something very different for...

We visited for lunch and we were very much looking forward to it given the the fantastic reviews. Sadly that bubble was burst. Lovely building with friendly reception however the pub was cold, surprisingly there appeared to be only one wood burning fire which was lovely but not near us nor did it heat the place except the two tables...

Stayed once again in the suite which is a complete home from home. Clean, comfortable, well equipped and spacious. Breakfast was included and leaves you full for the day. We ate 2 nights in the restaurant and the meals were excellent.

First impressions are how clean and well set out the restaurant and bar are. The menu was varied, however the potato skins were disappointing, the pate was nice. However the steaks were very well cooked and the sweets were lovely. Good place for a meal and the service was good.
