Spent a lovely Friday and Saturday evening at the Star Inn. We had a comfortable and clean king double room in the building just behind the main pub. The breakfast included the usual cereals, pastries and choice of cooked breakfasts, etc. nicely done. We booked Saturday night in the restaurant and found the food very good. We had the beef...

We visited the Star Inn for my husband's birthday. We don't live far away and our local was closed for building work so decided to give the Star a go, having heard good (and not so good!) reports about it. We booked for 7.15 and whilst we were greeted promptly as we entered, offered menus and drinks swiftly and had our...

We arrived a little battered from the freezing wind that goes with a hard bike ride on the Ridgeway at this time of year. The Star Inn opens at noon, and although it was 11.45 that didn't stop the landlord from welcoming us into the warmth of his establishment. We opted for a two course meal for a set price...

We dined at the Star on Xmas Eve - lovely food, excellent service and the pub was decorated nicely for Christmas. Both the soup and the short rib of beef were excellent. Later in the evening it became quite noisy with large groups, so we asked to swap tables, which was handled smoothly and efficiently.

We stayed at the Star Inn over Christmas- lovely comfortable room in the barn, and our dog was allowed to stay. The food is exceptional at all times. We had several meals including a spectacular Christmas lunch. The quality of the food, flavours, cooking and presentation are all completely outstanding. This really is a very attractive place in lovely surroundings....

This Inn serves good food - if somewhat pricey for what it is. The rooms - in an old converted barn - are well appointed and are only a short distance away fro the main building. We found the staff friendly and more than willing to do everything to make our stay comfortable. The location is perfect - somewhere between...

We were a group of two couples seeking some peace and quiet amidst the mad rush of returning to England from France to see friends and family at Christmas. Not only did we find the perfect rural setting, but also some fine food and fantastic hospitality from the welcoming Williams family. They have succeeded in providing a comprehensive, original and...

Excellent food in a friendly, welcoming environment. Restaurant or bar area options. Mains: locally reared Ham (door stop proportions), hens egg and chips. Followed by chocolate cheesecake and sorbet all for £18. Other choices tried includes flat iron steak, generous burger etc. Food and menu very impressive - well worth a 30 minute detour from M4.

We stayed over Christmas and had a ground floor room which was very comfortable. It was useful to have a thermostat on the radiator as the room became quite hot. A variety of teas, real coffee and homemade biscuits were provided. The bathroom had a bath and a large separate shower, everything was very clean. The lights were on a...

Lovely downstairs room, beautifully done up and dog friendly. Staff really customer focused. My only comments relate to the meals. Breakfast had whole apples, oranges and bananas for the fresh fruit. How unappetising ..... what would it take to have some fresh blueberries or a fruit compte, and maybe some raisins. That and semi skimmed milk as well as full...
