We only stayed the one night as we were at a party in Wantage, so unfortunately we didn't get to sample the restaurant in the evening which the rest of the guests were raving about. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place had a lovely fresh feel throughout with a good garden to enjoy a pint or two....

Arranged to meet friends here. After a long journey we were not disappointed. We all had a superb lunch. The fish dishes were gorgeous . The staff could not have been more helpful. We will be returning in the very near future.

We took several rooms whilst attending a family wedding locally, everything was as near perfect as possible over several days, from arrival to reluctant departure. Beautifully located, lovely rooms, lovely garden, especially the brilliant staff - particularly Krijstina and Laslo - and excellent food and drinks!! Thoroughly recommended, one of the most comfortable and enjoyable places we've ever visited.

Fantastic place to stay, beautiful peaceful surroundings, the pub is full of character combining old and new. The staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the local history. Personally I would love to stay there again and I would recommend to everyone wishing a quiet break away.

Called in for Sunday lunch today and was impressed by the pleasant restaurant layout and gardens beyond. My main course which was a supreme of chicken roast with excellent vegetables and a well made gravy. Unfortunately, my wife was very disappointed with the vegetarian offering even though she is far too good natured to complain. There was a family group...

We stayed here for a couple of nights while walking on the Ridgeway with our dog. We couldn't have found a better place to stay. The room, in a converted barn, immediately behind the pub was immaculate. I would describe the Star Inn more of a restaurant with rooms than a mere pub. We had two memorable meals. Great service,...

Very nice venue but surely it is not too much to ask that menu choices are actually available particularly when the menu is quite limited anyway. The menu is also very fussy so if you are a plain eater it is essential that the more normal options can be ordered. After all the shops are open till late and I...

This country inn with rooms was quiet and attractive. The rooms were clean and modern. The staff were helpful and attentive. The food, although quite expensive, was excellent. We. Stayed after visiting a National Trust property, and I would recommend an overnight stay with dinner.
