We booked via Secret Escapes- great price for a one night stay which included parking, breakfast & a complimentary bottle of fizz in the room upon arrival. £69 We were in town to watch our favourite band & the location of the hotel couldn’t have been better! The room was a decent size- heating & aircon available. Huge rainfall shower which was clean and colourful with interesting artwork…. Shampoo, shower gel & hand soap available in the bathroom. Tv , tea & coffee facilities- iron and ironing board, safe & hairdryer (in the wardrobe) Reception staff were welcoming & helpful throughout our stay 3 x couples - all had super king bedrooms…. Restaurant and bar staff were lovely. We didn’t have an evening meal, but other guests said it was amazing, so definitely next time. The breakfast was amazing- a choice for everyone. Lovely teas and coffees . Clean & well preserved eating area. In a nutshell, our stay was pleasant & comfortable! Would we go again….. Absolutely! The views around the hotel aren’t great, but it’s central, close to local amenities etc. Thank you for a pleasant experience Photo : hotel foyer

My husband and I had amazing stay to celebrate his birthday. The staff both at reception and in restaurant were all very helpful, and very friendly. I was a little wheezy as we arrived and immediately the reception staff saw and approached me but still keep distance due to covid to see if I was okay. I did mention this to senior manager. We stay here 2 night and one staff mention about Glastonbury, shoe village and other place to visit. The staff at breakfast too were brilliant, one of the young girls could see I was struggling to hold me tray and she very gently, keeping her distance as best as possible helped me. She and other staff were all working very hard. I would return back again. Our room was lovely and clean everything was stock up.

Upper end of standard hotel. Room clean and well presented. Tea/coffee tray in room hadn’t been well replenished. Empty milk sachets, biscuits not replaced. Good shower. Restaurant really got up my nose. Made me bad tempered for the rest of the evening. I don’t expect subservience, not appropriate these days, but I do expect the waiters to recognise my existence in the room. I was left standing at the desk for what felt like a good 5 minutes. The restaurant was empty except for one couple. After having served them he just walked away! The guy at the bar just in front of me ignored me completely! Eventually he looked at me and uttered the warm words “You alright?” When I suggested that I wasn’t the waiter arrived and could only offer me a booking at 5pm! We ate in an empty ’restaurant which did not get any fuller. I hate being called “guys” by waiters. He was totally dismissive of us throughout service. Wore his mask over his beard but not his mouth or nose. The whole meal was saved by a lovely waitress who made us feel welcome and valued. The behaviour of the waiter and barman marred the whole experience.

Have just returned from a week at this hotel. Although it may not be everyone’s first choice, the hotel makes a great base from which to explore Somerset. It is clean and modern, with parking, but the best thing about it is the excellent restaurant and bar, with staff that cannot do enough for you. The restaurant is a Marco Pierre White, with good reliable dishes, a good wine list and excellent service. From a pleasant chat and cocktail with the lads at the Bar, to the friendly and attentive service of Kevin, Georgiana and their team in the restaurant, we couldn’t have been better looked after.

Recently Stayed here for a 4 night break with hubby. So the good points first.. It’s a nice modern/clean hotel, very central if you want to travel say into Devon like we did. Also walking distance to high street for restaurants/takeaways etc. Rooms are comfortable with tea/coffee & a fridge which is nice. Bathroom was a good size with a lovely waterfall shower. We didn’t really see much of the staff but the young lady on reception when we checked in/out was very pleasant. If you want your room cleaned you have to ask, if not you just leave your towels outside your door & collect clean ones from the reception area along with shower gel/shampoo etc, really good idea. If you come by car & park in the hotel car park its £10 per day. Right opposite the hotel is a car park which is free between 6pm & 9am so works out way cheaper. Be careful if your going to be there after 9am though as the wardens were really hot & in the car park at 8:55am ready to ticket anyone who hadn’t paid. My husband used pay on his phone if we were going to be later than 9, think it cost us about £4 for the week instead of £40 if we’d of parked in the hotel. Now the not so good.. We decided to have breakfast the first morning, I think it was £10 pp. Now considering how Covid safe they are with the cleaning of the rooms I was totally shocked to see the breakfast area was back to normal buffet style with everyone helping themselves to food. Most of the other guests wasn’t wearing masks so therefore breathing (or even coughing on the food). The pastries were all just sitting there not even covered, also the tables were way too close together. Whilst I do understand that we need to be getting back to some kind of normality & you don’t have to officially wear a mask or social distance anymore I really did feel very uncomfortable in this restaurant as did my husband. The only other thing was on entering our room there was a very strong damp smell. My husband said it was the drain on the shower & cleaned it out, after running water down it for some time it seemed ok. The following evening it was the same though. Also the shower tray is quite shallow & with the power of the shower soon filled up with water. Either a bad design or maybe just needs a good clean. All in all though we enjoyed our stay & would stay here agin.
