One of the best restaurants we have been in for years. The staff is very professional, the interior cosy, romantic and chic. The chef and his team are well aware of the so called " haute cuisine ". Even the presentation of the gorgious food on our plates was dazzling. Also I had the best Eton Mess ever! Sublime restaurant... More

Stayed one night whilst house hunting in area. The room was good and comfortable and we slept well with open windows even though it looked onto main street (there's little traffic). Bit strange to have bath in same room as bed but it works fine as long as you don't want to stand up to shower (if you do there... More

Stopping for a short while in the delightful village of Hinton St George was like travelling back in time and I felt so relaxed. Friendly staff and the place had a fantastic atmoshere... could have stayed longer. The room was nicely decorated in keeping with the building. The only shortcoming was that the room was too small for the freestanding... More

This review is for the pub and restaurant, not the accommodation. Pros: 17th Century thatched ham-stone pub in beautiful Somerset village, easy parking within 100 metres or less, lovely ambiance, no pop music or giant television, real ale from the barrel, very friendly and helpful staff, beer garden, excellent food (including wonderful chips). Cons: hairy single-track lanes to negotiate to... More

Following a recommendation from the Yurt Retreat where we were staying, we booked to eat here and we were not disappointed. Everything from the ambience in the pub, to every course we ate were simply perfect. Even the home made bread, which was lovely and warm was exceptional and the fish and chips..... nothing short of legendary! This is a... More

We stayed here for two nights and were made to feel extremely welcome, by both staff and locals - we didn't want to leave! Really comfortable room and bed, tea & coffee (nespresso) facilities plus freshly baked cakes in the corridor. No TV, but with wlan TV access (football!) possible from the rooms. Huge bathtub in the room was a... More

In our on-going search for good pubs along the A303 we found the Lord Poulett through the Good Pub Guide. Beautiful village and a very understated frontage to the pub itself - good to see that Planning Regs can work. Wonderful interior, the main bar having very subdued lighting but extremely atmospheric. Really enjoyed the Pub Platter for starters -... More

We stopped for lunch on the recommendation of some friends and were not disappointed. The place was not busy which is not surprising for lunch mid-week but the staff were friendly and efficient. We chose a simple meal of a starter and main. We had starters of celeriac soup which was outstanding and a dish of asparagus with salad cream... More

We went to the Lord Poulett Arms for a birthday lunch. The asparagus with a duck egg and home made salad cream was exceptional as was the rump of lamb & lamb pie. The only slight disappointment was the brûlée for pud which didn't involve burnt cream. We would definitely recommend. Staff were very pleasant and the decor is great.... More
