Initial impressions were good: the owners were friendly, though muddled up the booking, confusing themselves about my arrival day, then they got my leaving date wrong, despite my clarifying this twice before I arrived. Both times, they commented on this, as though I had made the mistake! Although they accept pets, be aware that the stairs to all the rooms (1st and 2nd floors) are very narrow, small and steep. Both my dogs fell up the stairs many times, I slipped down some steps one day. This made it dangerous to go up or down the stairs with my dogs on the lead. If I had known this, I would never have booked, as it made entering and leaving the place very stressful. Also, the rooms are not cleaned or the bins emptied, so again, trying to manage my two dogs AND carry down rubbish was made even more difficult. I had to ask for a cloth and cleaning cream to clean the bath, as in my 7 day stay, it wasn't cleaned. The room itself was large, so plenty of floor space for 2 dogs, but not particularly clean. Lovely duvet though, made from sheep's wool. The guest house is very central, but that means it is noisy (people coming and going in the house, slamming doors; loud voices inside and outside, car doors, the lorry doing deliveries to the Coop). Parking is in the paid car park to the side and front of the house, but it is possible to find quiet streets nearby to park for free. Wifi was fine; tv signal was terrible, so sometimes it was not possible to watch programmes. But for me, the worst part of the stay was how I felt that I was treated by the owners: critical comments that they refused to explain. I was told that they didn't have a check out time, so not to worry, but on the day, that turned out not to be so. I felt hurried out of the room - with the owner grabbing bags from my room and 'helping' me to carry them downstairs. That and yet another comment from the owner as I was packing my car confirmed my view that it had been a mistake to stay at this place. It is cheap, but I (and my dogs) would have had a more relaxing, happier time if I had paid more for a more comfortable, welcoming B&B or even a rental property.
