We were disappointed at the ‘superior’ room. The bed was hard / creaky and we spent a very uncomfortable first night. We only managed to get a few hours sleep and were exhausted the next day. As a result we didn’t spend a second night there despite having paid for it. The bathroom also lacked privacy as there were no proper blinds, just a net curtain which meant at night that you couldn’t use the bathroom with the light on as people congregating to smoke outside the main pub below could see in. Also the bathroom smelled of tobacco from those smoking below. The shower was a trickle and just wasn’t fit for purpose. The staff were indifferent and it lacked the professionalism you would expect. We have tried to engage with the Pub / Hotel but have had no response or no refund offered. Hence we are giving this review outlining our poor experience, to ensure others don’t make the same mistake. Having been a frequent customer over the years in terms of eating / drinking at the pub, We wouldn’t use it ever again. The only positive thing I can comment on was the breakfast in the morning which was okay.

Shower in 3 of the rooms we had you have to lay in the bath flat if you wanted to get wet. Worst showering facility ever. WiFi not strong enough to even use. Tv smaller than my phone. Stains on wall. Window fell apart while sleeping. Chipped bath and all in need of updating. Poor. Food was good though.

Unfortunately stayed in a damp smelling room, the phone in reception didn't stop ringing and was very rarely manned. The taps in the room took a very long time for the water to come through. The cleanliness of toilets must be improved, especially with covid. The glass jugs at breakfast looked like they had only ever been refilled and not washed themselves, with an awful dry residue around the spout of the apple juice, orange juice and the milk. Glasses borrowed from the bar needed a very good wash before we used them in the room. There are attempts to update the venue and these are lovely, however I think the basics of cleanliness and staffing should be addressed first. We were abruptly spoken to by a male member of staff about moving children off of the adults campsite, which we didnt mind at all, as we were there for a brief conversation with family staying on the campsite but his manner could have been much improved to say the least Wouldn't stay again, sadly. Such a shame as a lovely spot in the countryside.

Well what can I say!! Just got back from daughters wedding at this amazing venue We cannot fault anything Our family and friends had pretty much booked out every room and were all pleased with their accommodation Those who couldn’t get a room stayed on the campsite and were surprised at how cheap this was Also we were able to book just 1 night which was extremely convenient as these days most wedding venues expect you to book at least a 2 night stay and this can put people off Thank you Raleighs !! The space outside reserved for weddings is perfect , just the right size and they allowed our daughter to decorate it just as she wanted The function room is ideal for small or large parties and again can be decorated to individual tastes The food served at the reception was exceptional and we have already received fantastic complaints that we would like to pass on Thank you for making our daughter and her new husbands day such an amazing one We would definitely recommend this venue for a wedding , break/stay or even just a meal the service we received was excellent Janet

Have stayed before and it was lovely. Room basic but clean. Breakfast good but experience let down by very poor disorganised customer service. Clearly short staffed but no staff engaged with residents or visitors with good grace verging on the rude I'm afraid. Known for this locally sadly needs improvement. A friendly face and good people skills a must here at any hotel and pub really!!
