We stayed in the Shippon which was delightfully appointed with everything one could need for a weekend stay. The hosts were really lovely - friendly and helpful but leaving us to come and go as we pleased - just the right balance! The surrounding fields and grounds are beautiful and the birdwatching is excellent - just stand still for a...

Lovely cottages in a stunning setting. Ideally situated for a visit to Exmoor, central position makes it ideal for a trip out in any direction. A step back to a more relaxed time where you can listen to nothing but the natural world around you.

We were looking for a quite out-of-season long weekend break. We know Dartmoor well; Exmoor is closer but have previously by-passed it as being "too tame". After a bit of browsing - it can be very hard to judge anything just from web reviews - we plumped for Cutthorne and had a very memorable couple of nights there. Our room...

Cutthorne is a beautiful house tastefully restored in a secluded valley between Wheddon Cross and Exford right in the heart of Exmoor just below Dunkery Beacon. If you wish to escape the rush and pressures of life, there are few places that will rival the peace and tranquillity that Cutthorne affords. I could never hear any traffic, there are no...

The B&B is situated down a long drive, quiet and peaceful with stunning views of the countryside. However once stepping inside it is clear the house has not been redecorated since the seventies. A lot of floral patterns and browns and pinks with a bizarre stuffed cat on the stairs! We had the four poster room which was huge with...

We stayed at 'Cutthorne' in July 2014 for a short 5-day break of walking on the moors. The accommodation was exceptionally comfortable and practical for the walker. The breakfast offered a wide selection of fresh fruits from their garden along with a full fry-up with everything cooked to perfection. The 4 course dinner in the evening ensured we did not go...

Needing some relaxation, peace, space and sanity I booked in at Cutthorne for a 3-day break at the end of July. I arrived on the Monday afternoon after a tiresome and tiring journey with several hold-ups due to accidents on the roads (nothing fatal fortunately) and was greeted by the dog (Samantha). She rushed straight up to me as I...

Cutthorne was advertised as dog friendly so myself, two friends and 3 dogs booked to stay for 3 nights in the Ballroom a converted barn attached to the main house. Anne one of the owners welcomed us and she was very friendly and helpful. The ballroom was quite small but perfectly adequate with small rooms, a double, a twin a...

We recently stayed at Cutthorne in their Shippon cottage It was really excellent, the accommodation, food and wine together with a relaxed attitude from Ann, Pam and Phil made our stay very enjoyable. The flexible arrangements available meant we were able to have the privacy of self contained, but also having the luxury of dining in the house if required....

“All the rooms are good and each is different. They are all en-suite. There is a small double (the one I had), a four-poster and a twin room. All have lovely outlooks and are equally quiet.”
