Good campsite, had a great weekend with friends and the kids. The staff do stick to the rules pretty strictly such as no fire pits but we still had a great time. The toilets and showers were clean and warm and the playground was loved by the children.
My wife and I had six days here, our daughter and two young grandsons joined us for 4 days. The site staff were very nice pleasant helpful people and I spoke to them every day. The site was very well maintained, all services were great and I would recommend to anyone. A part of the kids playground was out of action, how long it has been like this I do not know? This area could be made more appealing but did not bother me or my family. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Stayed in the Ready Tent for this stay, as we are easing the kids into camping. Usually pay extortionate prices to stay at Alton Towers but decided to give this Glamping a go…boy was we happy we did! So much nicer to stay here, lovely and quiet at night, lots of space for the kids to play around, cooking and dining area in the tent unlike Alton Towers where we pay for just a room and have to queue for ages for breakfast. We was concerned about the shared toilets and showers from reading previous reviews but they are cleaned daily and the only mess would be wet floor and grass which can’t be helped. The staff were lovely and welcoming. Definitely booking again next Summer!!
A friend and I stayed at this site for two nights over the weekend so we could complete a charity hike organised by Macmillan Cancer support on the Saturday. We asked a staff member whether we could be let out of the site at 6am rather than 7am (when the barriers are open). We explained to the staff member that we needed to leave at 6am because we were doing the charity hike for Macmillan and needed to be at the start line before 7am. The staff member flatout refused to spare a moment of time to open the barrier slightly early for us, so we could get to the start line on time for the charity hike. This staff member then became increasingly hostile after we pleaded with them for some flexibility because we were doing a charity hike for Macmillan. The staff member then just said the same line over and over "the barriers are closed....the barriers are closed". Because of the hostile and inflexible staff member who refused to support camping and caravan club members who have raised hundreds of pounds for Macmillan, we were forced to arrange emergency travel from the site to the start line in Ashbourne. Overall the site was ok and as expected from a camping and caravan club site, but I can only give 2 stars due to the experience I received during my stay. The Camping and caravan club have a motto of "The friendly club"; all I got from this site was hostility, inflexiblity and a refusal to support its members while they try to raise money for a national cancer charity. …
What a fab site, really well kept blocks and grounds, good kids play area, Beth peaceful. Fantastic for Alton Towers and a meal at the Star which is literally 5 mins walk! The staff were amazing, giving me a lovely roomy pitch to reverse into on my first time towing, even guiding me in and not letting me use the motor mover haha!! Brilliant, thanks so much we will be back
This was a nice place! Nice site, well located for alton towers. Pleasant wardens , clean , didn’t seem to be enough showers for the number of people on site and needed to queue but no big issue Nice walks locally , quiet after dark , Would certainly return
We visited for 3 nights and had a fantastic experience with our new camper . On arrival we were met on site by Anna who booked us in and guided us to our pitch . The site is well managed and spotlessly clean all over Toilet block showers and washing facilities are very well maintained and clean clean. Our pitch was perfect for our set up We spoke to all the staff during our stay , Jim called me Dave the Talker 😂😎 A mention to all the staff for making our stay a great one , so thank you, Jim .Brenda , Anna . Linda , Mandy and the 2 Paul ‘ s . Fantastic customer experience, well done all , see you all again .
My family and I visited this campsite for five nights. It was a decent place but it wasn’t the best camping and caravanning site we have ever been to. Fortunately the campsite is a 10 minute drive away from Alton Towers and peak animal park also there is an incredible restaurant (The star at cotton) just a 2 minute walk away! On the other hand the there is no shower curtains to keep your clothes dry, the shower only stays on for 5-10 second per push of the button and there are only 2 showers in the main, male toilet block although the staff do keep the toilets and shower immaculately clean. When the site gets busy tents get packed in quite tightly in each field.
A great location if you’re staying for Alton Towers! About a 5 min drive to the shops as well which was very useful. Very disappointed that there wasn’t a shop on site though. The showers and toilets were not checked regularly as suggested, the showers constantly smelt and had hair everywhere! The heat lamps were a bit rubbish as well as they were inconsistent. Overall, we had a very wet stay as it didn’t stop raining, but we would stay here again instead of paying the extreme prices at Alton towers.
A lovely site within a 5 minute drive of Alton towers, we were pitched in our tent at the top of the field which gives amazing views over the valleys and hills, surrounded by farmers field lovely sounds of wild life and local farm animals. Being so close to Alton towers you can’t hear or see any sign of this and traffic wasn’t an issue. The site is very well presented with a lovely staff, little shop and play park. The top field is on a hillside whereas the bottom pitches are flat. Facilities are lovely for the bottom pitches but very basic (portacabins) for the top. Highly recommend, we visited 3 times last year and are already planing more this year.
