Lower Micklin Self Catering Accommodation is set in 10 acres of grassland allowing plenty of room for children to play in safety. Half of a mile outside Alton village and five minutes drive from Alton Towers, Lower Micklin Holiday Cottages are also situated at the edge of the Peak District and a few miles from Uttoxeter racecourse. All our lodges are self contained, spacious and well appointed. Each cottage has its own fully equipped kitchen area, large shower room, and lounge/dining area with colour TV and dvd player. Centrally heated and double glazed, they are warm and comfortable whatever the weather. All towels and linen are provided. Unlike most self catering facilities, we happily accept guests for short periods allowing you to visit Alton Towers, rest overnight and move on to the next part of your holiday, or alternatively, stay a few days more and visit some of the other local places of interest. Guests are welcome to make use of the spacious outside facilities including climbing frame, swings, ball game field with goalposts and walking paths. Barbeque facilities, including fuel, are available on request. This outdoor space makes our cottages a great alternative to hotels near Alton Towers or the Alton Towers Enchanted Village Lodges.

I have not been to Lower Micklin Farm with my family for 5 years due to them getting older, and having their own lives. I used to bring my kids here every year so that we could go to Alton Towers for the weekend. It's lovely to see that nothing has changed, the cottage is still very clean, everything you need is provided, it's owned by lovely peple, and it's lovely and quiet. We love coming to Lower Micklin Farm. And it's only a 5 minute drive from Alton Towers too. Beautiful as always, I would say you should go there and have a nice stay. Alison Lovett

Cottages were perfect, nice and clean & had everything we needed. The host was very welcoming on arrival and gave us all the information needed for during our stay. Check out was simple and just had to put all sheets in the bags provided and load the dishwasher. Fabulous Views from the cottages. The cottages are In Fantastic location for Alton Towers and we also visited the best restaurant/pub we have been too called the ‘Bulls Head’. Would recommend and we hope to visit again.

Glad to hear you managed to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside. There are fantastic walks (and tea rooms/pubs) direct from the door and the bus can take the children to Alton Towers so you can relax in the morning. We look forward to seeing you again. Kieran.

We recently stayed for a family weekend away. I would highly recommend to all! We are already planning our next weekend away for next year, and will definitely be booking back here. We were warmly welcomed into our stunning cottage, which is very homely and has everything we could need. Everything was so clean and we slept very well. The fresh milk, tea and coffee was most welcome. The children loved exploring the grounds and seeing the alpacas, guinea pigs and dog. You are surrounded by lovely countryside and Alton Towers is only 10 minutes away by car too

Perfect base to visit Alton Towers. Six minute drive to the resort. Peaceful and quiet location. Helpful owners onsite. Spoilt for choice for places to eat or self cater for. The cottage was ideal for a two night stop over. Wished we had stayed longer. Tea, coffee and milk available on arrival. Beds very comfy and cottage clean. Parking right outside. Kids play area opposite and a football/games field with goals posts round the corner. Nice touch to have fans in both rooms if needed. Fold away table and chairs for dining at which store away easily at the side of the room opening up a good size communal lounge/kitchen. Wifi hit and miss however wasn’t essential for us to not have it. Would visit again. Also has field for camping/caravans.

What a glorious weekend, my first time camping and I'm hooked. I'm pretty sure it because of lower micklin. The facilities don't feel like you are camping, they are clean and no waiting around for showers despite it being a busy weekend. The staff were so lovely and so was the the area. Great little park for the kids . They have llamas, a lovely dog, ginuea pigs and chickens. At night you can hear the owls. We did lots of lovely walks to nearby pubs (although walks were over fields and a few styes). All pitches had electric hook ups and there was lots of water points. Plenty of bins at the facilities and a great little area for pot washing and disposal of waste. Of you go please visit the bulls head at alton for a Sunday lunch 'cob' they were amazing. Can't wait to go camping again in August at lower micklin. We booked again before we left!!

Very good cottage close to Alton towers, 2 bedrooms so kids can stay in separate room, large living room/kitchen. Shower was really powerful. There were alpacas, a dog, chickens outside which my kids really liked and a small play area. Great location. Would def stay again if coming to Alton towers - excellent price.

This is 5 star for the whole experience. From start to finish the little touches from fresh milk in the fridge to a personal welcome gives off that feeling of a business that values its clients and understands how to make you feel welcome. The best part is the accomodation is excellent and for families in particular its heaven for visiting Alton and the surrounding area. Llamas outside the house, chickens running around and brilliant personal bbq and eating area outdoors. Thank you all for making our first experience as a family to Alton a fantastic one - added bonus for me i could watch the Euros in the privacy of the cottage.. Local pubs were brilliant for food and a short taxi ride if you wish to venture. We will return as a larger family for sure.

Just home from lovely weekend away with the family. We booked cottage 2&3 to accommodate us. Both were appointed with more than enough room. Well stocked and all covid precautions clearly well thought out. The little extras were a lovely thought. Cottages are conveniently based for Alton towers and the peak District. Lots of places for walking and cycling. Would definitely recommend.
