Stannum house is a beautiful place to stay- however guests should be aware that you will be sharing a bathroom with the rest of the hotel guests. Dinner and breakfast were buffets and I have never had worse. Barely any food and it had been sitting there quite a while.

The spacious rooms are beautifully decorated to match the historic period of the house. They have used modern decorating techniques to resemble the period and incorporated some older furniture. Each room had its own bathroom which was located at the rear of the house due to regulations ie. not changing structure of heritage listed buildings. Heaters were in the rooms...

Coming from England, my idea of a quaint, historic Bed and Breakfast was somewhat different to what Stannum House has to offer. I personally would disagree with the raving views but perhaps my expectations were too high or I was unlucky... Con: Arrived at 4pm, the reception is inside the diner (I would not call it a restaurant) offering (on...

Tenterfield is a lovely outback Australia country town, with gorgeous boutique shopping, is the birthplace of the famous Peter Allen singer, and an historic town in that it is where Federation was signed and was under consideration to be made the capital of Australia, and so the reason Stannum House was built. It has been recently been fully restored to...

Stannum House is an absolute treasure! It really is like stepping back in time. We stayed in the Blue Room which has its own bathroom just across the hall and is the only downstairs bedroom. Such a wonderful experience for only $99 including a fantastic breakfast. We imagined that we would just be offered a continental breakfast but no, it...

Wherever you stay there are always things which make you happy and some negatives.....Lets deal with the negatives..No air conditioning and strange karaoke playing outside our window......Air con would have been nice (a storm cooled the room luckily!) and the karaoke was not that intrusive(It stopped when the storm arrived, washed them away I expect)....Now the positives...Comfortable room and bed, a...

What a step back in time! Beautiful original furniture from the mid 1800s. Very comfortable and the breakfast included was a hot and cold buffet. Definitely value for money and one for the history buffs.

During our road trip in Australia we were lucky we could stay one night in this beautiful heritage house. It's one of the oldest houses built during the colonial period. Because of its solid structure and the strong foundation it was used as area HQ by the army during WW 2. There is an interesting history and you can learn...

I was traveling alone, so wanted something a little more personal. This was excellent. Very friendly, not so perfect you were reticent to touch anything, but comfortable and clean. The brekky was good, bed comfy and the room spacious and quiet. Thanks

We stayed at Stannum House for three days late last year. It was like being transported back in time to the Victorian era. Loved the antiques with their special stories and the calmness of the town. Tge staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend Stannum House to all lovers of history and nature.
