My husband and I had been looking forward to celebrating our one year anniversary, and, after deciding on a Bruny island getaway, we booked the nice looking Maxy's by the Sea. Having paid $215 for the night, we were expecting a pleasant stay. Upon arrival, as the views took our breath away, our expectations were high. However, as we tried... More

Read about this place as a lunch stop on a premium tour. Thought, will stop there. Basic building and surrounds but with great views. Good simple pub food, but all made with local ingredients. Staff are locals and very cheerful. Nice wines.Big serve sizes. Give it a go.

We stopped in today for late lunch. Food was exceptional. The freshest seafood. Staff were very helpful. Service was fast. Can't fault this hotel. We had the seafood platter for 2. Substantial meal. Delicious

What a charming pub. The barman greeted us and handed out some kids activity packs when we arrived. The meals were large and the kids pasta was well received by our fussy eaters. The steak was cooked as requested and the lamb was tender and delicious. Great selection of wine and other beverages. If any negs to report on, the... More

We arrived for a late lunch without booking. The service was wonderful and we ordered the shared Seafood Platter. The platter included crumbed squid, oysters (both natural and Kilpatrick), beer battered fillets, grilled trevalla and a skewer of chargrilled scallops. The hotel is pretty ordinary in appearance, but don't be put off. The food is great and service friendly and... More

We booked dinner here on our first night on Bruny. Staff were warm and welcoming, specials board had a great mix and the serving sizes were huge. Good luck if you order 3 courses! Also, do not leave without trying the Seafood Chowder - it was absolutely delicious!

Took a trip to Bruny Island with my wife, brother in law and his daughter on a wet and cold Saturday. The drive down from Hobart to Kettering was easy, so was the process of getting onto the ferry. My brother in law had previously lived on Bruny Island for many years and he took us on a tour of... More

This place just looks like a regular pub from the outside. When you get inside you quickly realise that it has a friendly atmosphere with a nice open fire. All this is topped off by good food and very friendly service.
