We haven't stayed in b&b for many years. We stayed here for a wedding we were attending at Brickendon. You can tell the owners took great care and pride in this place. Everything looked perfect at the breakfast table. We stayed in a king room on the first floor. It wasn't facing the road, but was side-on to the road....

I am usually difficult to give points. But, here it was fairly easy. The Host are very friendly people. We arrived quite late and they were very accommodating. The rooms are big and well kept. The host are involved personally into every detail. The quality of breakfast was superb. No comparison. Thanks for a lovely stay.

I cannot sing the praises of this home highly enough. From the minute we drove into the stunning garden to the comfy log fire wine sipping it was stunning. We loved Delphine the cat almost as much as our friendly, hospitable hosts. It needs nothing else...perfection in every way

The rooms are quietly located away from the common areas and were large. The bathroom was modern and clean. The rooms had blackout blinds that kept the light out in the mornings. The breakfast offered was really good. The poached eggs were the best I've had. They offered a full cooked breakfast, nice bread choices and cereals. If I had...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Racecourse Inn offers fine, heritage accommodation together with warm, country hospitality at Longford, in Tasmania’s northern midlands. This beautifully restored Georgian coaching inn was originally named the “Racecourse Hotel” after the Longford racecourse, Australia’s oldest continuously operating racetrack. With roses trailing over its convict-made brickwork, the picture-perfect two-storey Racecourse Inn, a Georgian B&B (circa 1838), is steeped in the history of Longford, itself one of the earliest villages settled in Tasmania. For those interested in history, the building itself contains some rare and unusual architectural features and period antiques. The Racecourse Inn is the perfect base for touring Northern Tasmania; only 10 minutes from Launceston airport, 20 minutes from the centre of Launceston and one hour from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport. Our five en-suite guest rooms have been individually furnished with period antiques with the comfort of the traveller in mind. Upstairs are three delightful attic rooms with dormer windows and sloping timber-lined ceilings, and downstairs are two generous bedrooms, including a spacious heritage suite with a king-sized bed, open fireplace and double spa. Your accommodation includes a full cooked and continental breakfast featuring tasty locally sourced Tasmanian ingredients, many of them home-grown and hand picked daily from our kitchen garden and orchard. We are also able to provide evening meals by prior arrangement, and have a fully licenced bar and lounge area. Our beautiful accommodation is only minutes away from Longford’s main tourist attractions, including The World Heritage listed Brickendon and Woolmers Estate, home to the National Rose Garden, at the start of Tasmania’s Heritage Highway. We’re also only a short drive from the Northern Tasmanian wine route and some of the best fly fishing lakes and streams in Australia, including Brumby’s Creek, The Macquarie and South Esk Rivers. ... more   less
