A power black-out caused by windy weather brought all the guests that were staying at the motor inn around the wood fire lit by candlelight. The owners went out of their way to make dinner (gas appliances) and to make sure all guests were supplied with torches. As I was doing the ghost tour, it was particularly dark and eerie,...

Excellent customer service; called ahead of visiting & 5.45pm dinner was suggested as we were booked to do the Port Arthur Ghost Tour. Pre-warmed rooms & fantastic dinner before a 5 minute walk to the visitor centre for the start of the tour.

You can't ask for a better position to look over the Port Arthur site. Friendly staff. Everything you need for a day or two stay - clean rooms, food available at the restaurant, ample parking and easy access to the Port Arthur site. Bar on site.

Great Tassie hospitality! The room was basic, warm, cosy and clean. Coffee & tea making facilities with complementary biscuits and bottled water. It's an ideal place to stay if you are planning on exploring the site. There is a private gate that opens directly into the convict site, very convenient especially if you are wanting to do the Ghost Tour,...

Fantastic spot, 5 minuts walking distance (if that) from Port Arthur which was fantastic as we only stayed due to wanting to do the ghost tour. Rooms very clean but slightly old. Beautiful scenery from the room

The location of this motel really can't be beaten. It backs onto the Port Arthur ruins, and has a private gate in. At night you can wander down the hill to stare at the eerily lit buildings, and feel almost alone in the world. With a pass, you can also get in early and beat the crowds. Wonderful. Otherwise, the...

The Port Arthur Motor Inn is the best place to stay when your purpose in town is to see the Port Arthur convict site. You just walk through a gate on the property and come back the same way. Could not be easier. The motel itself is perfectly fine - nothing special, but no complaints, either. We ate in the...

Free WiFi, comfy bed and couch and yummy biscuits in the room - the latter seems to be a dying tradition in most other hotels and was a bit of welcome nostalgia. Check- in was through the front-bar of the hotel but was friendly enough and easy, was advised that the restaurant was open 5:30-7:30 for tea and after a...

Loved our stay, walked into an interconnecting room for our family of 5 with 3 singles in one room and a double in the other. Quite dated but very clean and the beds are very comfortable and for $190 I think the price fits. loved the chilled bottles of water in the fridge.... Just what I needed after a long...
