We stayed in the side cottage. It was a real treat. sparkling clean, and every thing you need. A fire that was very welcome, air con was also handy. The bathroom is very comfortable. The location is perfect. Also the adjacent café serves THE BEST scones and muffins (The barista seems to be pretty good ) , with really nice...

The accommodation was just lovely - a little step back in time but with all the modern comveniences you need to make your stay comfortable, our cottage was also very roomy. The food was excellent - especially the scones and the hospitality was brilliant - they were friendly, knowledgable about the area and very helpful.

We spent a couple of nights in the Studio Cottage at Touchwood. It was spacious, clean and well-equipped and I loved the feature stone wall, constructed from stones used as ballast in one of the early sailing ships vying to Oz. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast supplies provided in the room were welcome and Greta and Chris could not...

I have stayed at Stanley on a few occasions over the last decade and the Touchwood Cottages are up there with the best. The hosts are very obliging but then leave you alone to do your thing if that's what you prefer. If you want a chat, then walk into the beautiful gallery and chat away! Perfect for my family...

We stayed one night and would have been pleased to stay longer. Our cottage was delightful in every way - charming, cosy, clean and very comfortable indeed. It reminded us of stays with nanna in the 1950's! Quality linen, bed and furnishings and little treats to enjoy while there. Plenty of heating should you be contemplating a visit in winter....

Touchwood cafe & gallery owned & operated by Gretta & Chris is outstanding in every aspect. Their attention to detail, hospitality & quality of their food is worthy of 5 stars. If you want fast food that is mass produced forget it. If however you are wanting quality food from a boutique cafe, then look no further. The gallery showcases...

We had just one night in this perfect hideaway. The hosts were very helpful and the cottage was stacked with more than you could possibly expect or want. We devoured the chocolates and port, enjoyed the home made jams and cooked up a beautiful breakfast with what was provided. The cottage has a spectacular view out over the water and...

This was our last stop on a two week trip around Tasmania, and boy it was the perfect ending for our travels. The two bedrooms are perfect size and while we were travelling with our children, it would be great for 4 adults too. It is in the middle of town, walking distance to everything, but at the back of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Looking for a breath of fresh air? If so, you can't beat the quaint little seaside village of Stanley on Tasmania's North West Coast. With its whistling wind and gorgeous countryside, Stanley is the ideal base for exploring all the natural beauty and attractions the region has to offer. Noted for its friendliness and warm hospitality Touchwood Cottages are situated in the heart of Stanley and are the perfect place to relax and unwind. There is an excellent cafe on-site using an abundance of local fresh produce open six days of the week and some evenings. A design Gallery and gift shop, choc full of Tasmanian product, complete the small complex which, with its cobble stone walkways and old street lamps, is reminiscent of an English scene! All three cottages are 4 star rated and decorated in a colonial style blended with modern touches. They are well appointed, full of character and charm and extremely comfortable. All are fully self-contained. We are located within a stone's throw of the beaches, eateries, attractions & shops. Hearty breakfast supplies, a fresh fruit bowl and chocolates with port are included in your tariff. ... more   less
