We spent 2 nights in ormiston house in strahan- this was to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversay. They say its good to laugh about things that are bad , because otherwise you may cry.. From the outside the house looks beautiful, but inside was another story. We ascertained that between the time we booked and the time of our stay there...

A once-magnificent 1899 Victorian mansion with sprawling gardens and nice drive-by appeal. This is a living local history lesson with interesting and expansive common areas. However, the guest accommodations are below expectations and the breakfast is closer to boarding house than B&B. There is more museum than comfort here and it does not answer to the tariff. The good: the...

Very quiet and comfortable - and peaceful. Lovely if you like period accommodation. Excellent service and the rate includes beautiful continental breakfast in the spacious dining room. Parking on site and a short walk into town - along a seaside walking path.

We had the Mary Alice room, which was lovely. bathroom large & had a bath. nice & clean & bed comfy. the only negative was there was nowhere to sit with a table. (I changed the chairs in the room to be either side of the tea making table!) & put the jug etc on the unused dressing table. A...

A beautiful Victorian home once owned by the wealthiest family in Strahan. Each room has the name of the family member who slept in it. Very friendly, charming, and helpful host who will book you a reservation in a delightful restaurant. Breakfast was simple, without the usual B&B’s eggs. Each room had beautiful antiques in it and you could picture...

The house and rooms are a little tired and while managers (newly arrived) are in the process of tidying up the gardens it is very overgrown and in need of a good makeover. The four poster bed in our room (the Anne Marie?) is only a narrow double and felt quite cramped. Room could do with a couple of easy...

What a let down this place has gone from being an excellent stay to a complete avoid. Hosts whilst friendly do need a lesson in running a B&B for starters breakfast should be that not a half bowl of fruit, limited toast no OJ and deff nothing hot offered. Beds hard and very old fashioned linen.

We loved our stay in Strahan. This property is very old, historic, traditionally furnished & full of character. Our host Peter met us at the door & gave us a quick tour. At 5.30 we all had a welcome cheese & wine meeting to get to know each other which was a nice touch. I marked it down simply based...

I stayed at Ormiston house for three nights while staying in Strahan. The room was great I had a four poster bed with a period themed en suite bathroom. The house itself is a grand old house with a fabulous room for breakfast and an amazing outlook from the roof. Located a 10 minute walk from Strahan it is close...
