Great stay in Huron at the Comfort Inn. Check-in was smooth and friendly, the room was right on-par with what you’d expect from the brand, sleep quality was excellent, and our room location overlooking the canal was very quiet and peaceful. Pool was clean and a very inviting temperature despite the cold weather outside, and the quality and variety of the breakfast in the morning was a nice surprise as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Clean room. Great price. Stopped here on the way out to Milwaukee. Visited nearby Sheldon Marsh State Nature Preserve and Joseph Steinen Wildlife area- many bald eagles and warblers! Also walked out toward Huron Lighthouse- beautiful sunset over Lake Erie!

While the hotel itself is okay, the front desk person was clueless. We were given the key to someone else's room. Imagine our surprise when we open the door to what we thought was our room and found the tv on, suitcase open, lights on. Then we were given a second key and as we started to walk away, we were told oh sorry I gave you the wrong room. Then we were given a third key which did not work when we finally to our room. So a fourth trip to the check in desk she gave us the failsafe key to our room. We Finally got situated and went out to eat. When we returned, the failsafe key would not work! We couldn't get into our room, again! It was ridiculous and we are pretty sure the desk clerk was stoned, as we saw her out by her car smoking something. It was scary to know that the clerk was handing out keys like candy. The room was okay. The view was nice if you got a riverview room, which we did not. We did find the skunk walking down the side of the building cute. We were warning people about the skunk as we figured it was useless to tell the clerk. We will not be returning.

My room was large and clean. It had lots of desk space and a comfortable easy chair. It was on the third floor overlooking the river with a very pleasant view. I would be very happy to have a room just like this at every hotel I visit. The setting was serene. It is on a quiet street with several restaurants with outdoor seating overlooking the river. My stay was very, very peaceful.

My friend and I stayed here on August 11th. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful. We encountered a handicapped man by our room who forgot his room key card, and his phone was in the bathroom. He was staying with his uncle, who he couldn't call , for help, his uncle was out drinking. My friend and I stayed with him and called the front desk to let him in his room. We then went to supper. We came back and the young man recognized us, he told us he fell off the rock wall behind the hotel and hurt his arm, he thought he broke it. Clearly, this young man should not have been left unsupervised, but again he was. We spoke with the front desk , they called 911 for him. I read some reviews that the staff was unfriendly or rude, this was not our experience , we found them polite and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

I am starting to have some issues with Choice Hotels. It useed to be that their different brands had predictable levels of service---Clarion was an old-style motel, Quality a little better, Sleep Inn and Comfort wth full amenities, and some upsacel in Ascend and Cambria. Lately, I can't predict if a Qulaity Inn will be better than a Comfort or if it will be a 1950s stye exterior-door motel with no elevators. So we are enjoying a stay in Huron, where this Comfort Inn isn't quite what I'd expect in that brand. What was disappointing--no business center. No pool. Extremely slow wi-fi. Old-style magnetic-strip door key cards that don't always store a code, and exterior doors that get locked tight at night and they key card won't admit you (and the back door, which overlooked the Huron River, doesn't have a key card reader). Our road-side room gets a lot of exgerior noise--I'm not a light sleeper, but I was awakened in the middle of our first night by some loud metallic sound outside, sounded like a pile-driver. Photos of the property suggested that there was a furnished back patio with stair access to a small beach, but that furniture is gone and what s at the bottom of those stairs is concrete. On the plus side--staff was really good and responsive to our needs.Rooms are nice and spacious with a big soaker tub in the bathroom. And best of all, it is right on the river's edge, and by luck we were here on the night of a supermoon with gorgeous weather--the reflection on the river was almost breathraking. Readers should understand that I award a rating of 4 to any chain hotel that meets the chain's standards as I expect them--5 means even better, and lower rating--disappointment Here' there are some missing pieces and other points of excellence which balance each other out.

Great location. Lousy mattress. This hotel is by the river near the marina. The view was beautiful and it was 5 minutes drive from Nickelplate Beach. The breakfast was OK and the room was spacious and clean but the mattress was hard. I woke up with back pain both mornings.

We had a one night stopover on long road trip between Niagara and Chicago. Plenty of free parking. The room was spacious, a little tired but clean and perfectly acceptable for short stay. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. We used the self serve laundry which was really helpful. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and others a short drive away. Breakfast was basic but the woman serving was super friendly and helpful.

We stayed here as overnight guests on June 29th. I should have known better as soon as the TV wasn't working in the 1st room they gladly transferred us to another. The morning of check out a man at front desk was complaining of bugs in his room stopped us in the hallway and asked if we had seen any which at the time we had not. Something about that didn't sit well with me when we returned home Thursday I left our belongings in the car because it was dark and I couldn't inspect them. The following morning I pulled our bags and 2 pillows out to inspect them before bringing them inside there were tiny bugs crawling on the pillows and through out 1 of the bags. I immediately called and asked for a manager which told me she would look into it and return my call which she did not I called later that day she left without returning my call. Following day I called and spoke to a new manager Connie who was beyond rude didn't want to hear what I had 2 say our conversation was ended by her telling me the room was occupied they could do nothing until the room was vacant and someone would return my call Tuesday which followed with her hanging up on me. And yes my tone was elevated because of her manner of speaking to me and the situation. I felt they were avoiding me and I was just looking for a refund. Its now Tuesday no call by 3pm I called and spoke with my friend Connie again she says nothing was found and no one else would be speaking to me about this situation and hung up on me again. So at this point I will be calling my bank to dispute the transaction and leaving a review on every site I Canandaigua calling Huron or sandusky County to report this issue. So yes the area and location may be nice STAY AWAY from here not only do they not know how to treat their guests but they have BUGS!!!!

For the price, this was a great place to stay. Was attending a weekend long sporting event at the Cedar Point Sports Complex. The breakfast was better than average and staff was really nice. Clean and basic which was just what we needed. Will stay here again!
