Wife and I stayed here for a night for our anniversary and dined at the regionally known Chez Francois (which they can assist with arrangements). Clean and well appointed rooms. Nancy and Bruce were great hosts. Engaging, thoughtful, respectful. Gave us the run down of the historic house, which we loved talking about. Decorations are great and add to the... More

Stayed here for one night. Interesting historical old house a couple of blocks from the water. We arrived on a dark and stormy night, but the proprietor Nancy is warm and engaging, outstanding hostess. The house is warm and comfortable, furnished with beautiful antiques, shared area includes a great study with gas fireplace. Farmer's Market on Thursday is two blocks... More

We went here for our First Wedding Anniversary and we stayed in the "Anniversary Suite" and it was even better than I thought it would be. The room was huge and very well appointed. The bathroom was amazing and had a great soaking tub and also a huge walk in shower with multiple shower heads! Nancy is the inn keeper... More

My husband and I stayed at the Captain Montague's Bed & Breakfast for 2 nights this week. The B&B was very clean and decorated to keep the flavor of the 1800's Victorian Home. Nancy and Bruce, the proprietors, were very warm, friendly and helpful. Our breakfasts were delectable!! We could not have been happier with our stay at the Captain... More

We just spent one night at this B&B. It is a beautiful place with lots of open area to enjoy. Our "Sarah" room with private bath was very clean and comfortable. Our stay at Captain Montagues was superb. Nancy was a wonderful hostess. She gave us a tour of the home and told us the fascinating history of the home's original owners: Captain Montague and his wife Sarah. Breakfast was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with our fellow house guests. We will be back!

If you are planning on staying in NW Lake Erie area this is a must stay. Nancy and her husband were awesome and very accommodating. Location was excellent. They provide transportation to a high quality restaurant nearby should you require it. Lodging is beautiful and breakfast was excellent.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Captain Montague's...old world charm meets modern day luxury. Built in an era of romanticized Great Lakes history, this was once home to Captain C.Z. Montague and his family. Boasting seven fireplaces, original burled wood pocket doors throughout the common areas, and a stunning hand-crafted black walnut staircase, the Victorian flavor of this home was enhanced by the craftsmanship of local shipbuilders. Extensive, careful interior updating has resulted in a comfortable and modern home that you will beckon you to relaxation. Each of our rooms are quite private and very quiet and all come with their own private baths. Captain Montague's spans an entire block in the historic, lakefront community of Old Plat in Huron, Ohio. It is located just two short blocks from Lake Erie in the Old Plat portion of the original village that remains. ... more   less

“All of the rooms are lovely. Mollys room is on the first floor if you don't want to do steps. The other rooms are located on the second floor. Jennys room is the honeymoon suite and is very romantic. We also like the Captains room. Ediths room is very bright and sunny and Saras room also is very nice. They are all great!!”
