We loved the history and ambiance of this hotel. We stayed in a room overlooking the lake, everything was spotless. The staff was very welcoming. I highly recommend making reservations for the dining room, the wait times were pretty long.
I hate to write anything negative about Lakeside because it really is a great family experience. However, if you go, don't bother eating at the Lakeside Hotel.
