It's been a few years since my last visit to GWL. So, I was really looking forward to this visit. We showed up after 4 PM to check in, to be told that their computer system had crashed. They gave us our water park bracelets and told me that they would send a text when our room was ready. We really wanted to go to our room first, before going to the water park, so we went to Meijer, next door, for snacks. We got the text about an hour later. Got our room and changed and headed for the water park. The water park is always enjoyable. Our room was really nice. Everything was in working order. I did get a message, before we left, that they were doing upgrades on the exterior. So, we couldn't access the balcony. No biggie, although it would have been nice to be able to use it. The next morning, I discovered when I went down to Dunkin Donuts for coffee, that the establishment was cashless. I did not receive a warning about that. Luckily, I was able to use my room key to charge my coffee to my room. Oh, the room key is now a bracelet. I really liked that. I was wondering how I was going to handle my key card, while at the water park. Overall, even with the couple snags we encountered, I enjoyed my stay. All the employees I came in contact with were very nice and polite.

This has been the worst room experience I have had at a Great Wolf Lodge. The place is under major construction, which I wasn’t made aware of when booking. There is no access to the balconies and their is a big tarp over my balcony window so I can’t get sunlight into the room or see out the room. Imagine being on a cruise ship with an inside room. I asked to be moved to another room but was told they couldn’t move me because they do not have enough house keeping support to keep up with all the guests who requested to be moved.

The water park & activities were great for our 3 year old grandson. Check in was easy and quick. Breakfast was just ok, but we did have a great server!! Our room could have definitely used a lot more attention. This is a smaller wolf lodge and we like that.

The Pros Check-in was pretty quick and easy. The indoor water park was decent, small as compared to some of the other Great Wolf Lodges but it works. Some of the water valves that the kids should be able to open to let water out in different spots don't work but not a huge deal. Seems little maintenance is performed to fix such things. The outdoor pool is halfway decent and seems to be heated, not huge and only part of it is very deep. It closes an hour before the indoor water park so we ended up not spending much time there. Some reviews on Tripadvisor complained of too much noise and running in the halls. We did not experience that. The bed was actually pretty good as compared to many hotel beds. Our room had enough towels for the max number of people our room could accommodate, which is how it should be. I've stayed at some hotels over the last year or so where the rooms with two beds that can accommodate 4 people only had 3 towels, not so here. Our family rooms which can accommodate 6 had 6 towels. The not so good The rooms or at least ours really is in need of some serious TLC. The bathroom should be gutted and fully re-done. Paint peeling off the walls, the shower valve can't be fully closed so water runs all the time, the shower feels very dated, etc. I suspect the rooms and bathrooms have never been renovated since this Great Wolf Lodge was first built, I could be wrong though. The outside is being spruced up (it's a mess now but should be nice once done), it would be nice if they did the same to the rooms. One can't access the balcony because of the outside renovations. The sign on the sliding glass door that can't be opened suggested the blinds be left closed as workers could be on the balcony, so no natural light. The cost per night I feel is high given the condition of the room and especially the bathroom.

Problem #1 My family and stayed for 3 nights in Aug 2022 and I reserved the loft. The room is a nice size and we were happy to be separate from my grandkids. However, we quickly found out the 1st night that there are NO vents upstairs and heat rises. In order for us to get a breeze of any cool air, we had to freeze out the kids on the bottom level and of course we couldn't do that. We were miserable at night because we had to keep turning off and on the air so the kids could warm up and then freeze them so we could get a little air. The lodge is in the middle of renovating and all the balconies were sealed off which meant they couldn't even warm up on the balcony while the air was on. Problem #2 The loft room also has a sunroof in the ceiling with no way to block out light. I like it dark when I sleep and normally a person can close the curtains to block out the daylight. Because the of the window panel in the ceiling(see picture), we had no way to darken the room at dawn which was around 6am every morning. That was soooooooo irritating since we hadn't plan to wake up until about 8ish but the bright room changed our wake up plans :-( So if you are a person who likes to sleep in and don't want the sunlight beaming in your room in the wee hours, my suggestion is DON'T GET THE LOFT ROOM!!! Problem #3 We are from Virginia and frequent the one in Williamsburg. We love the wave pool because my granddaughter can also swim in the deep in and have fun with the waves when the buzzer rings. This location does not have a wave pool at all..........bummer. This location also doesn't have any other special attraction like the surfboard simulator or anything comparable. The outside pool area is geared more towards toddlers. Although they have a deep in (5ft), that roped area is very small it probably only represents 10% of the outdoor pool area and when my grandkids ventured outside, that small deep area was too crowded verses the remainder of the pool area. I quickly found out that not all lodges were the same. This location as far as the waterpark is small compared to other locations. On a good note, I can say that all the staff we encountered were very nice and also very accommodating. I really appreciated how friendly the staff was and everyone seemed to really love their jobs and love kids. Nevertheless, it's not a location that I would revisit especially since I found out there are two other waterparks within a 5-mile radius of each other. Problem #4 We had no access to the balcony during the entire stay. We wanted that experience of sitting on the balcony during the stay because we had a great view of the outdoor pool. The sliding glass doors were bolted shut. The lodge did send out an email about renovations during our stay, but we didn't get that email until 2 weeks before our arrival. Our reservations had been booked and paid for since Jan 22 and our stay was in Aug 22. It was too late to make other arrangements especially since we had already purchased our flights several months in advanced too as well as taken leave from work. I like Great Wolf Lodge and my grandchildren thinks it's the next best thing to Santa Clause but for what I paid verses what I got; it has left me a "tad" disappointed.

This experience was really disappointing. All over the hotel are messages about the cleaning protocols. First in the women’s changing area was so gross, in one stall there was actually what appeared to be poop smears on the floor, when we went to our room and pulled the couch sleeper sofa out there was blood all over the mattress pad. We did tell the front desk and got a credit of 50 dollars, but gross. Also our room was above what I think was the air handling system so our room literally hummed, buzzed and shook. This was not worth the 550 per night at all.

Definite family-friendly environment. It was our first time there, and our daughters had a ball! We saw folks there from all different age ranges. Staff was friendly. Bathroom was very narrow and small, but the room was clean. Will definitely go again.

This resort/ Lodge has many amenities on dry land as well as the water park! Lots of activities to do from basically 9:00am -9:00pm which trust me your kids (my 5yr old) will tire out before you have a chance to do everything on the schedule! The extra $$ to pay to enter the waterpark early is worth every penny, the $$ for late checkout is not. Keep that in mind. Hotel is probably one of the cleanest I’ve been in, considering it’s also been around for quite some time, you cannot tell! Sadly the meal deal packages are worth it if you plan on eating on the premises, as it’s very pricey! The wolf passes are worth every penny and tons of fun for your little ones. (They don’t tell you this, but to get the free bowling you have to go to the arcade prize counter to get a special coin) Overall yes it’s a pricier vacation when looking, but I assure you, you pay for what you get and here what you get is priceless memories. It will be our new annual vacation spot.

We slept maybe 3 hours per night. From the unattended kids running the halls at literally all hours to the drunk people yelling down the hall to the people above us banging everything at 3 in the morning to the air conditioning sounding like a metal can full of ball bearings to the people next door howling on their balcony at 3am to the people on the other side smoking weed that we could smell on the balcony (and couldn’t leave the door open to replace the terrible AC) to the staff who did nothing about any of these things to the room that smelled like feet.I just want to go home where it’s quiet and I don’t have to deal with rudeness or incompetence or noise or smells. What a terrible place to stay.
