We visited Kalahari Sandusky this September 2022. The park was very fun for my toddler, and our room was nice. The food and drinks there were extremely overpriced for what they were. We entered a restaurant that was only a 1/4 full and had to be put on a wait list for a table. Which was very odd. Food took a long time to come out as well. The next day we packed up and left. Upon getting back home, I realized that my son's birthstone earrings were not with me, along with his whale stuffed animal. I clearly remember putting the earrings on the counter by the sink. The whale was left in the bed where my son slept the previous night. I immediately called customer care and competed a lost item report, as these items were very sentimental to my son and me. My items have yet to be found and it is now almost a month later. Which tells me that someone employed there stole these items. Kalahari keeps telling me they are still "looking" for these items. They have not offered me any type of retribution at all, which is extremely poor on their part. It is very disheartening that people cannot be trusted. Make sure you have all of your belongings before you leave, because they will not be returned back to you from this resort. This was our first and last time at Kalahari.

This is an excellent resort if you manage your expectations. You're probably coming to this hotel for the waterpark-- which is a great feature for all ages! However, there's much more to do on property. There's several bars, restaurants, an escape room, arcade, and even a spa. That's a lot to do given the location. The amenities are a lot of fun, but the best thing about this resort is the staff. Everyone i encountered was kind, curteous, and respectful. They all seemed to know what they were doing. We had a great time, but everything about the accommodations seemed a little outdated/unkept. First, the check in process is lengthy. We checked in on a kiosk (which took around 10 minutes) which didn't have the ability to dispense the breakfast tickets we had paid for when booking. The line for guest services was really long, so we came back sometime after 10:00pm for our coupons. There were 2 parties ahead of us in line and we waited over 30 minutes for them to be finished checking in. This is of no fault of the front desk attendant (these people opted to check in at the desk rather than kiosk, and he was simply inputing all the information he needed from them.) Our room had clearly been redone sometime recently; however, it hadn't been well maintained. The curtains had holes in them, one of the lights near the bed was out, some of the linen was stained, and the mechanism allowing the sink to drain was broken. Also, we found several bugs in our room during our stay. I'm guessing they got in around the door (which we didn't open, but the frame may not have been free of gaps.) The room wasn't dissimilar to the rest of the property. It looks good at first glance, but then you notice the cracks-- especially in the waterpark. We were traveling in a party with small children and took them into Splashdown Safari. A lot of the mechanisms that they would use to squirt and dump water were broken. Similarly, a few of the small water features and parks for little ones were broken. Many of the surfaces in the waterpark need redone. I hurt my hand, knee, and toe pretty bad when i fell off my raft in the lazy river. The floor of the "river" was rough enough to draw a decent amount of blood. We discovered that first aid was closed when we exited the attraction. The sign directed us nextdoor to the Manager's Office, who did not have any aniseptic or wound cleaner-- just bandaids. Overall, this is a great place to come with kids. There's lots of good things and some things that need improvement. If you know this coming in then you'll know what to expect and have a great time!

I honestly had high hopes for our one-night stay. I took my kiddo and nephew, and they enjoyed the waterpark very much. My nephew got a rash after being in the hot tub. First, there was poop on the floor of the women's locker room, and it was smeared. Second, in Great Karoo for breakfast, I observed the man making the made-to-order omelets prep a brisket with the same pair of gloves on doing the following: unpackage the beef, put gloves into the seasoning used to season the omelets and he used that to put the same seasoning on the brisket, then he opened the fridge door to place the pan of brisket into it, reached in an took his drink out and drank from his cup, then he turned around and put his gloved hand palm down over the top of my little cup of veggies which contaminated my food, he used the same towels to wipe out the egg pans and countertops, then if that wasn't bad enough, I watched him adjust his hat on his head with both hands!!! At this point, I asked him to replace his gloves--he was very annoyed by this request. Then I watched him refill the egg pitcher by holding the inside of the pitcher between his thumb and two fingers. He then proceeded to wipe his gloved hands on his apron and rub his head. The manager personally made me an omelet but honestly, I would have expected something more to be done. It was appalling. I didn't eat anymore. Because my sister has mobility issues, I purchased the VIP package for early/late check in and the valet parking. The drop off / pickup was super chaotic. I didn't feel it was a very VIP treatment. It more was--pay $400 for valet parking and 4 bottles of water in our room. Not a good value.

OMGGG OUT OF THIS WORLD EXPERIENCE. My daughters (7,16), husband and I had an amazing time. Everything was OUTSTANDING. From the minute we did pre check in @10am to check out. Check in was seamless. Kalahari Sandusky was Magical. my 7 year old said its better than Disney. It wasnt as Pricey as Poconos location but TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY And the drive from New York. The indoor water park is absolutely WOW.. something for everyone to do. I came home wanting to go back already. Great experience. The workers were ready to help at a seconds notice. There is a shortage of workers in ALL OF OHIO. Arcade is a trap super expensive but so fun. The restaurants are pricey. A lot of food options within 10 minutes from Kalahari. Definitely recommend. Book in advance youll save money. Extremely pleased. The rooms are average nothing spectacular. Super clean the rooms. I am a lysol wipes/ spray fanatic not a spec of dirt found. VERY VERY HAPPY. I recommend getting there early. Enjoy the water park every second. Open 10-9pm Outdoor waterpark 11-7pm (OMGG AMAZING A MUST)You can use the water park @10am arrival and until 3pm check out date. You wont be disappointed. We arrived August 28-Sept 2 Its definitely down time (off peak) only 20% of the resort was occupied. So it was very quiet & so nice to enjoy. But the only downfall the indoor slides are open on an hourly rotating basis. So you have to pay attention to the written signs. for us it was PERFECT because there were so many other options. lazy river was great also. All slides, wave pool. Cant wait to go back. Near by: (10 min drive) Walmart Panera Sams club Pancake house Sandusky JORDAN DINER (delicious breakfast) Cedar point (16 minutes) AMAZINGGG PLACE TO CHECK OUT.( you may need more than 1 days to visit its massive)

This is my favorite waterpark but I was disappointed that the wave pool was roped off in the four foot instead of the six foot, which made it too crowded and not as fun. They also had one of the popular indoor waterpark rides down for maintenance. In the room we went to check the bed and there was a long white hair on the pillow, so that was really gross. the fireplace insert was busted and the glass in the fireplace was dirty and ruined the fireplace view. Food is way overpriced. Room 2201

You have everything! super fun for the kids and parents. Good food, prices are normal. Super clean and staff are amazing. Lobby is always busy and you can grab a breakfast in the morning or eat lunch and have a drink in the evening. It is only 1 to 3 minutes from your room.

This is our 2nd Kalahari stay and we were excited about this one because it is HUGE. The nice thing is they have slides for every age group. We enjoyed the thrill rides. The food onsite is decent and not super expensive. I really enjoyed the Candy Hut and coffee place. I was disappointed how our room was not cleaned even though there is a sign in the room that it would be refreshed. There was also a lot of noise at night. I do understand there are lots of kids who are excited but it was difficult to sleep. The animal park was lovely. We have been to many but never fed a wallaby or kangaroo before.

This resort really is huge! I don’t think that we even saw half of it! We were there Fri-sun with two other families and enjoyed the indoor and outdoor water parks, arcade and glow in the dark golf. The rooms aren’t too bad. Very spacious. Just need a facelift. Bathroom on the other hand is terrible and really needs a full renovation. But so fun for the kids! Will be back!

We stayed in Kalahari on a weekend trip I didn’t really know what to expect. The resort as you pull up is huge and vast complex. Parking is ok you may have to park far away. The grounds are very well kept and so is most of the common areas. The hallways were a little dingy, you may have to walk far to get to your room. The room itself was pretty clean not spotless but ok. It’s nothing Fancy but was ok. The door in our room doesn’t not shut without a good push. Now the food options were actually impressive the breakfast was very good with a wide variety of items, so are the other restaurants. Now the water park is impressive wide variety of fun for kids and families. Now the negatives. First the biggest issue is the clientele. People are constantly walking though restraunts and common areas with just bathing suites. Kids run up and down the hallway and make noise. Not so as family friendly as I thought. Multiple under age kids messing around in fitness room. This isn’t so much the hotels fault but it does leave a slight negative experience. There were other minor issues with the room like the showehead was old and filthy. The curtain was dirty and had small holes. The drain was partially clogged. Other than that the resort was fairly clean for the people. Would I recommend this place to you? It depends on the person. If you have a family this is a great place to go with many fun options. A solo traveler? No the noise and chaos of the place may bother you. If you want a nice quiet place don’t come here. All in all I had a slight negative experience at this place but it depends on the person so I provided the experience that a small couple or solo traveler may have. I would rate my stay 3 1/2 if I could.

Overall kids had a blast, with so much to do and see there. Check in easy, got our bands, and went to the pool. Package included arcade credits, but since they sent me to the kiosk to check in, i never recieved idt. Had to ask later that night. Room was obviously not ready, but received text at 1pm that it was, so went to car got all our items and went to room, but maintence was in it changing out the AC unit. They let me put the stuff in, but kind of inconvienced. No ice machines working on the wing. Went to over 5 machines on 4 floors and nothing. When text the helpline, they were less than helpful. For the pricei paid they could have had somebody bring it to my room considering how annoyed i was. But like said, kids had fun, and just a few things the staff could do to make a more enjoyable experience, and bump up their customer service considering how expensive this place is.
