Indian Bear Lodge is a beautiful property with 10 cabins which hold between 2-35 guests. It has beautiful open fields and woods with groomed hiking trails throughout. (A lot of cabin places say they have trails, but these are nice and even kid friendly.) Besides the cabins there are two main features which are the lake and the winery.

The lake (large pond) has a pebble beach with lots of kayaks, canoes, floating trampoline and dock, all available for guests (you don't have to sign up or pay extra). There were lots of people when we went, but were still able to use the gear and have fun.

There is a winery/restaurant on site. It has limited hours but we were able to eat dinner there both nights and even had live outdoor music and dancing. The winery and music are kid friendly, but they do not have highchairs.

We stayed in the Lake View Ranch cabin on Friday - Saturday nights for mom's birthday. Myself, mom, sister, her husband and 1-year old. This cabin could easily accommodate 3 couples. Well decorated, full kitchen, large decks and nice fire pit area. It was too warm to want to use the hot tub but had the option. Our cabin was close to the winery so we could walk to dinner and enjoy the music from our own deck. We were 200" from both the winery and lake. We arrived about an hour early and since our cabin was ready they did let us go on in. Thanks!

Here's why I could only give 4 stars: Making a reservation was difficult... no response when tried booking online and then no answer to the voicemails I left. Finally got through to someone who said they'd call back but never did. Be persistent... our stay was really nice, so it was worth it! Our cabin was musty (especially the bunk-bed room) and couldn't open the windows on that end of the cabin (one let in a flood of ants and the other fell out of the frame). Each bedroom has a small shelf to put your things but no dressers/closet. Lighting could be improved. I would not let these things prevent you from staying here!

It's a casual relaxed atmosphere. The cabins, lake, and winery are nice, and they really put a lot into maintaining the grounds which are immaculate. We all had a really good, relaxing time and would recommend Indian Bear Lodge for sure.

PS you may see some dogs and cats roaming around, which was a welcomed site! The pretty black kitty is super friendly and got into our cabin once (we had to pick her up to put her back outside) and she even climbed in the car when packing up to leave! We're animal lovers so it was okay but FYI.

The lodge is quite large and has several amenities. Very nice for a large family gathering, or family/friends type of reunion. Nice kitchen, fire pit, rec room, etc. The only issues are that people visiting the vineyard and other things/places around there, seem to think the lodge is a place for people just to hang out, not for a family rental. Apparently some of the staff around the area (vineyard, restaurant, etc) seem to believe that, as well, as I guess they haven't been educated to the fact that it's not. It happens a bit, and it would be nice if the owner would do something about it. Tell the workers in the area that the place is a family rental, not just a hangout place for people who are not renting the place.

Our families had the best time at the most beautiful cabin! It was a picture perfect getaway and the most serene peaceful environment! The cabin was absolutely perfect and fit all of our family. The surroundings including the pond was amazing and just what we were looking for with kayak's, beautiful blue swimming water and perfect setting with lights. The cabin was perfect for the family to hang out around the pool table or hot tub or firepit. The staff was sooo helpful and accommodating and brought firewood and helped us by answering all of our questions and needs. Absolutely recommend, and so thankful for our peaceful memorable getaway. We will definitely be back!

very disapointed

i also work in the customer industry so i know how demanding people can be but this has left me speechless

i have made a booking with them via facebook cause i did not know how else to book cause i live in the UAE. We do not have this app called VRBO.

i have asked to book for two nights in the hide away cabin. it was my wedding and we wanted to make sure everyone had a place to stay. later on on of the staff contacted me telling me that the owner wants her family that is visiting to stay there so they can book me only one night. I told her but i booked two nights and i booked it for a reason.
she was very rude to me and said i only booked one night. i went back to our conversation and showed her how i specifically asked for those two nights. on the night of check in( it was out fault we did not see when was check in) we called and i still do not know who picked up. very annoyed very rude said we did not book for these dates.

not being from there we had to struggle the night before my wedding to find other place and AGAIN i had to show them i even got the invoice with the dates and still they messed up.

the arrogance and the rudeness was just one to much.
luckily i got my money back.

of all the places i have been in my 8years of traveling all around the world. This was the worst customer service i have ever experienced

Whatever level comes after immaculate - this place is at it. Very clean, tidy, tastefully and functionally arranged. We enjoyed the hot tub. Our dogs had all the freedom to run around and Gabbie was happy to play with them. The winery offers good selection of wines and the food is delicious. We'll go again.

I cancelled September 2020 lodging back in January of this year. The owner sent me a confirmation code. At the beginning of this month I had a withdrawal from my bank account for $1440 from Indian Bear Lodge. I immediately tried phone, email, website contact form, and fb messenger. She contacted me back via fb. She was angry and did not once apologize. She said that she would take care of it, but I had to dispute the transaction with my bank. This is not the time for a business to withdraw someone's money in error.

My husband and I, along with six other couples have stayed at Indian Bear Lodge (main lodge) on 4 separate occasions. The first two visits were great! The third visit was ok, but there was an interaction with the owner that didn’t quite make sense. Damage was claimed on the gas grill where there was some spot on the front of the grill from food that was over cooked. When the cook of our party offered to pay for a new one, that was fine. But when he asked to take the one that was “damaged” the owner wasn’t ok with that and said never mind. The original grill was still there as well. It’s quite odd to me why this was even a problem, but oh well, no harm no foul.

Our most recent trip was planned several months ago.

During the interactions and making our payments according to the agreement, the couple in charge of the payments ran into some issues and dates that were agreed upon.

Additionally, payments came out of the account before the dates that were discussed and noted in the contract. There was an instance where our payment was charged twice and our trip organizer had to wait for the erroneous charge to be reimbursed.

The next payment incident the owner “forgot” to tell her that the way payments are deducted changed for 2018. She also forgot to inform us that the tax rate changed for 2018 until it was questioned when the final payment was charged (which also came out of the account a day early).

We had to ask for additional dish soap and dishwasher tablets and received a well used/watered down 1/4 full Palmolive and 4 dishwasher tablets hours after requesting them.

We’ve spent almost $20,000 collectively at IBL and I don’t believe that they appreciate our returning business. It hasn’t been decided whether or not we will return, but if we do, I’ll take a lot of consideration. Hopefully, should we decide to stay again, we will be treated as returning $25,000+ customers. Hospitality and customer appreciation is/was all that we’re looking for.

We booked the Carlisle Estate after much searching and many attempts to get a large family's schedules together. If you have tried to schedule a trip for a family that lives in two states, you will completely understand the work that goes into it. Approximately a month before the booking, Indian Bear Lodge informed me that the owner cancelled the reservation and that they needed the house that weekend. I was quite upset to which they stated that he had the right to do that and that it was not their fault.

While maybe he had the right, that move lacks professionalism and is quite rude when we had already planned the trip. It was nearly impossible to find another venue that would support all of us at the very last minute. (A month is last minute when booking for over 25 people) And while it may not have been Indian Bear Lodge's fault, it reflects terribly on them and we have no intention on staying in any of their properties in the future. I can't imagine showing up at the Hilton and being told that my room had been given to their nephew because "he needed the room". Why is the same level of professionalism not expected from Indian Bear Lodge? I was furious and was not offered anything in the way of compensation. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

My wife and I spent three nights in the Bear Run cabin - just around the corner from the Lodge. The cabin has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The living room is comfortable with two log-frame couches. The wood burning stove is available for use Oct-Apr, so we were the first to use it for over six months. We emailed the owners as I couldn't initially get the door to the wood burning stove to open...no response (probably thought if we couldn't figure out how to open a door we shouldn't use it). The door was simply 'froze' from moisture/rust and opened with substantial lifting up on the handle. We thoroughly enjoyed one night's use of the stove, while having bonfires in the fire pit in the backyard of the cabin the other two nights. We were going to stop by the winery on Saturday night, but it was closed for a private wedding (not a big deal). We instead enjoyed a bottle of wine in the cabin. We also enjoyed 15-20 minutes each night in the hot tub (despite it seeming to be a bit too high on chlorine/chemicals as we got a bit itchy after getting out of the hot tub...not a big deal). Overall a very relaxing weekend.

A group I belong to rented the Little Rock Lodge, which is a part of the Indian Bear Lodge. We were blown away by what the lodge had to offer. The bedrooms were nice. The kitchen was large enough to prepare meals for our group of 27 people. But I think the favorite was the game room/bar. The view of the area around the lodge was beautiful.
