My husband and I stayed at this hotel for my birthday trip to Amish Country. Upon checking in, the woman at the front desk was very nice and friendly. But that's where the enjoyment stopped. The lobby is cheaply decorated in harsh and cold colors. Nothing inviting or comfortable about it. The room was so disappointing when we walked in. Terribly and cheaply furnished with an uncomfortable couch that basically puts you sitting on the floor and a couple of uncomfortable bar stools at the bar. There was a tiny plastic side table next to the couch that I put next to the bed as there was not a nightstand. The bed was terribly hard and was very low to the ground. The pillows, like a lot of hotels, were heavy and hard. But that didn't matter so much, as we always take our own. The lighting is horrible as it was 3 harsh led spot lights on the ceiling, over the bed and some spots over the kitchenette area. The bathroom was horrible planned as the shower is an "open" shower, with no door. The grout was overrun with nasty black mold. Very uncomfortable. The bathroom had no power fan or ventilation, so all the steam fills the bathroom, making the mirror unusable for 10 minutes or more after your shower. The AC is not controllable, even though there is a thermostat. No matter what temperature you put it on at night, they have it controlled so you can't get the room to a cool and comfortable temperature for sleeping. Bottom line, the room is dismal and just depressing. Nothing about this hotel reflects the beautiful area it is in. We actually cut our stay a day short as it was so uncomfortable and unattractive. I almost forgot, the breakfast. And you should too.

The room cost nearly $300 and it was not a $300 room. It wasn't a bad room just not worth the price. The room was average size, the breakfast in the morning was average. The water pressure was low in the shower. The location was great for visiting Amish country. Nothing that good or that bad to say. Just not worth $300 a night.

We returned to this hotel because we had such a good experience the first time. This was a bit of a disappointment. It started at check in, the front desk clerk though efficient was not friendly. The hotel appeared as clean in the lobby in the past but lacked warmth and any air of welcome. While sitting in the lobby later, we did notice the silence and wondered if a bit of background music would just have cheered up the place. There was not even chatter at the front desk area, because most of the time the women working up there were sitting down fixated on their personal cell phones. They seemed annoyed when asked to do anything else. The breakfast consisted of pre packaged jimmy dean sausage sandwiches in a refrigerator that you could heat up in the microwave, waffle maker or sausage gravy with biscuits. There was cold cereal, prepackaged muffins and pop tarts. A few DOLE packs of tropical fruit and yogurt were also available,. Our recall of breakfast in the past was more fresh hot breakfast items and eggs. This was a definite downgrade. The best thing about breakfast and frankly the staff was Lori - she was hospitable, chatty, and went out of her way to take care of all the guests. She was the hardest working employee we saw the whole time we were there. Upon returning to our room the first day, it was clearly not really cleaned. The garbage was not emptied, it was not vacuumed, nor any counter wiped down. In the bathroom, our towels had been on the floor and they took them, but they did not replace. Also, the counter was not wiped down as you could see the remnants of the morning including the soap residue from using the soap in the morning still on the counter. Our bed was not really made....they pulled the bedspread up over the pillows without straightening them, and the sheet was still wrinkled up near the foot of the bed, not even straightened out. When I mentioned it to the front desk clerk, her question was did i leave something on the bed. I told her I did not, and she just commented she would see. The lack of attention to the cleanliness in the room made us question the rest of the hotel therefore we did not use the pool or hot tub this visit. It was a real disappointment given our good experience in the past.

We have stayed here numerous times without any issues….our most recent stay the power went out we could eat breakfast or shower due to how dark it was in that area. My husband recently had surgery and didn’t want to risk falling. I mentioned this upon checkout and emailed management. Front desk said “you should have asked for a flashlight” and no response to email from management. This to me shows how invaluable our business is to them….very sad!!

We have stayed at The Wallhouse several times and have always loved the cleanliness, location and breakfast. Hotel is still clean, but the bathrooms have mold in the grout of the shower and need some bleach and a little elbow grease. Our towels had just been thrown on the towel rack when we arrived, so I wonder if they were even clean. We used the folded towels. Then, there was breakfast. Who comes to Amish Country and wants Jimmy Dean frozen dinners and prepackaged muffins? Where are the local pastries and fresh fruit we had so enjoyed in the past?. Stay was okay, but not outstanding like in the past and I have to agree with another reviewer that the front desk staff could smile from time to time.
