Hotel's Favourite
We’ve stayed at Hampton Inns across the country; this one rates among the best. Friendly, welcoming, clean and well kept. Breakfast was the standard Hampton Inn fare, but all was fresh, hot, and we’ll prepared. Folks just seemed to go out of their way to be helpful… and the chocolate chip cookies where really good.

Having had to stay in hotels numerous times in the last couple of months in different cities and states, I can’t convey to you strongly enough how impressed I was with this Hampton Inn. Every single person we came across here working was pleasant going out of their way to ensure we were taken care of. The room was extremely clean and the hot breakfast each morning was great. I wish every hotel took pride in their business like these people do.

The staff was very accommodating about the cleaning issues we had. Overall everyone was vey pleasant and helpful. This hotel is in need of renovations. The room was ok. The carpets in the entrance need cleaned or replaced.

We had a fine stay. Nice location in Zanesville, which is an interesting town. Several walking distance restaurants. Pool was indoors, and open until midnight, which is a great thing on some levels, but we had the wheelchair access room right next to it. Turned out to be zero problem with noise. They had a lift for the pool, which apparently hasn't worked in a while, and they should fix that. Front desk was very nice/helpful.

My family and I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Zanesville during a recent vacation road trip. Zanesville was a good location for a number of reasons (including a visit to Tom's Ice Cream Bowl), and we chose the Hampton Inn because of decent reviews and our Hilton Honors membership. The room was clean, and quiet. It gave us the space we needed for one night. My 6 year old slept on the sofa bed, which was very comfortable and in good shape (not always the case with sofa beds). My husband and I found the king bed to be comfortable. Check in was easy, and breakfast was standard. All in all, it was a good stay.

We stopped off to spend the night here when driving from Indiana to New Jersey. We've stayed in many Hampton Inn's as they generally are clean, simple and offer an ok breakfast.
This was none of those.....
The building itself is tired, worn out and in major need of a refurb. We had a room on the 3rd floor. On entry, the room smelt of smoke or something odd similair. As it's a no-smoking hotel I assume either it was a) the previous guest and the staff did nothing about it b) the staff themselves smoked in the room
It got worse when we entered the bathroom to discover hair in the corner of the shower. Also, the caulking had mold and was in bad shape. To topit off the fridge in the room made a really loud noise - like the motor was about to die.
Generally not what you'd expect from a Hampton Inn.

Response from Martha Thomas, General Manager at Hampton Inn Zanesville
Responded 30 Aug 2023
I am sincerely sorry to see you encountered so many issues during your stay. I would like to reassure you had the staff known there was a smoke smell in the room they would not have assigned that room to anyone. Also the Front Desk would have been more than willing to move you to another room that did not smell of smoke. I have addressed all of the staff about cleanliness issues, as well as the importance to make sure rooms do not have any smoke smell to them and are dealt with if they do. I also have maintenance checking into the issues with the fridge. I hope you will consider staying again in the future!

The staff accommodated us in every way and contributed to our very enjoyable weekend together. I recommend this hotel for large groups. They were able to attend to us and the other large groups at the same time while still caring to make us feel comfortable.

We regularly stay at Hampton Inns when we travel. So we have experienced a wide range of facilities. I must say this one was one of the best we have stayed in. Friendly and helpful front desk staff welcomed us with delicious cookies.
Small touches seemed to make the difference in a run of the mill place and one that is memorable.

I travel a lot for business and stay in many Hampton Inn. This one gives the impression to have been remodeled to the new Hampton Inn look. The lobby is the smallest I have ever been in. The rooms were smaller which was to be expected. The first room I received, the toilet wouldn't stop running and the work desk chair was so dirty and covered in stains that I asked to switch rooms. In the second room the chair was just as grouse that I didn't want to sit in it. In addition it was the most expensive hotel I stayed in all of 2020 and beginning of 2021 during a pandemic - at the same time being the one with most outdated und filthy rooms.

I am very sorry that we fell short of meeting your expectations. Our lobby and rooms may be smaller than others as we were built in 1997. We have been remodeled several times. I have spoken to housekeeping and maintenance about the issues you encountered. Again, I do apologize.

The main reason for this low rating is the rude treatment I received on the morning of our departure.
At about 10 am, I (who have been a Diamond Honors member for many years) called the front desk to ask for a late checkout at 1 pm. Although that would only be 1 hour past the normal time, the immediate answer given was "I'm not authorized to extend any stays. But, if you'd like to roll over for another night, we could do that."
Of course, we're not going to pay for another night, when all we needed was 1 hour.
The published list of benefits for all Hilton Honors member levels includes "Late Checkout".
So, this location apparently does not follow their own Hilton policies. We stay at MANY Hilton properties in the US, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, and England. And we have NEVER been denied a late checkout request.
We really needed that time, since my wife was visiting her sister she hadn't seen in 4 years, and she was not getting off work until 1 pm. So, we had to rush out by noon, with nowhere to go. And, she was so upset, she left a bag with her new camera and other important items, which her sister now has to ship to us out of state.
Also, the housekeeping staff came down our hallway, talking and knocking and slamming doors loudly, while we were still trying to sleep. There is such a thing as being considerate of guests, but they don't know what that means.
And the shower faucet does not work properly. Water comes out from both the shower head and the tub faucet.
One more thing. Having one elevator only about the size of a refrigerator is inadequate for a facility like this.
Be sure we will NOT stay at this hotel, should we ever need to stay in Zanesville again.
