I booked a double occupancy room and ended up with a single King bed. The first night I was alone so I accepted that room. The next day they accommodated and allowed me to move to a room with 2 beds. In the first room the floor had dust bunnies, stains, pet fur, and scraped up furniture. The second room had stained carpet but was marginally better. The TV are flat screens with analog channels.

Stayed at Shilo/Bend many years ago and did not hesitate to book for a recent trip (9/4-9/7). Unfortunately, the day before arrival I read recent reviews on this platform and two others. I was horrified and did NOT want to keep the reservation! This is a truthful assessment of our visit, specific to our room: Upon arrival (a bit before the 4pm check in) we were greeted warmly and directed to building 400, room 421. I expected the worst and found the room to be … adequate. This is not the Ritz - or even a Sleep Inn. It’s a low quality accommodation in a resort community that should either close completely or undergo a massive rejuvenation …. The real estate has value and is being wasted on this facility. The carpet appeared to be quite new and, after tearing the bed apart, I found the bedding clean and fresh. The bathroom is so so old - but it was clean. Sinks and toilet are very low in height but water pressure was quite good in the sinks and shower. Again, the bathroom was clean. I wouldn’t eat off the floor, but still… The AQI level in Bend was consistently hazardous so sitting on the deck overlooking the river was not possible. There were cobwebs visible along the ceiling beam, around the patio doorframe but the only insects we saw were some weird little black gnats in the sink when we arrived. They didn’t fly around, though they had wings, and we quickly eliminated them with extreme prejudice . Never saw them again. The appliances were clean but I was shocked to see glass coffee mugs and water glasses. Pretty sure that’s completely unsanitary, and a violation of Covid protocol. We bought bottled water & a couple of disposable coffee cups, which I would recommend regardless. The towels were surprisingly nice but, since there is no daily housekeeping, you have to ask the front desk to have them replaced. After reading many of the reviews that talked about the staff, I expected to be treated poorly. Nothing is further from the truth. ALL of the staff was friendly and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. The indoor pool & hot tub were open, and very clean. I doubt we’ll stay there again, and I can’t speak to any other buildings or rooms, but our visit was …. tolerable.

Booked a room with two beds through Expedia for myself and my daughter, $700 for 3 nights. Checked in, carried all the luggage upstairs to find the room only had one bed. Called down to the front desk, no one answered. Carried all the luggage back down, walked over to office. The guy at the front desk, who exhibited signs of being severely under the influence of cannabis, immediately said there were no more rooms, THEN checked the computer and began to say there were no rooms, but trailed off mid-sentence, then was zoned out for a few minutes, then stared off into space in a moment of inspiration, then called me "Dude" twice (I'm over 60), then said, "There was a room from earlier that the guy didn't like, and it had two beds. I'll go check it out and see if it's been cleaned." He then proceeded to disappear for thirty, count 'em, thirty minutes. He finally came back, said it was ready, gave us the keys. We went in saw there were two beds, and carried all our stuff in. We noticed an INTENSE odor of deodorizer or air freshener, but figured it was because they had just cleaned the room so we didn't think much of it, so we went to dinner. When we returned at 11:00 P.M., the smell of deodorizer or air freshener was gone, replaced by a powerful odor of cat urine. No wonder they had tried to mask it! It was only then that my daughter noticed the trash on the floor and between the cushions on the couch. She also lay down a little while I figured out what to do next, and that was when she noticed the BROWN STAINS ON THE SHEETS. I won't even bore you with the three phone calls to Expedia over two hours (until 1:00 A.M.) to try to get a refund. I will only say that this place is a total nightmare, and if I had bothered to read the reviews here FIRST, it would have saved us a lot of grief. While I was dealing with the extremely helpful and pleasant night clerk to try to work things out with Expedia, another guest came in and said, "I booked a room with two beds through hotels.com but the one you gave me only has one bed..." It is apparent that the manager of this hotel cannot manage it. It needs to close down.

I stayed here about 20 years ago and it was a fairly nice place, how times have changed. When we stayed recently, our room door was open upon arrival. We called the front desk and were told sometimes the cleaning crew doesn’t close the doors and were asked if the room looked clean…I told them we had just gotten there and the bed was made but hadn’t had time to inspect the room. Upon further inspection there were dead insects everywhere (beds, phones, lamps, in cobwebs, curtains), stains on the carpets and beds and cobwebs everywhere. The coffee maker was filthy. When we asked for a different room they switched us without checking IDs. We walked to the new room (right next door) and sure enough the door was left opened on that room as well. There were more dead insects, stains and this time hair (not from us). The cleaning crew left extra pillow cases on the microwave by mistake. Both rooms had horrible tv reception, clocks constantly giving off static and each room had 2 total towels. It was the middle of the night and we were only staying for one night or else we would have left in a heart beat. I know you get what you pay for but the room cost $300 for the night, an unbelievable price to pay to stay in a garbage can. I 100% recommend paying a little more and staying anywhere else. We woke up first thing and couldn’t leave fast enough.

Numerous problems prompted this review. First the parking for out building was far from the room. The carpet was coming up in certain areas, there was only one small trashcan, not very many electrical outlets (behind the times). The wifi was weak. The clock did not work correctly and alarm went off about 1 am. Our building (600) was near a fairly busy road and the traffic noise was present throughout the night. The restaurant on site was closed, hey do not have breakfast. This hotel is not near the gathering areas of Bend (downtown and old mill district). Not worth the price they charge. so overall, a disappointing stay. Recommendation (do not stay there)
