Hallmark Resort Cannon Beach is often lauded for its inviting rooms, which boast fireplaces and kitchenettes, though some guests mention they could be refreshed. The staff's warmth and the hotel's pet-friendly approach earn high marks, contributing to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere that many appreciate. Its stellar location near the beach and Haystack Rock is a highlight for visitors. While most commend the cleanliness and amenities, opinions on value are mixed, with a few noting room for improvement in maintenance.

The best hotel in Cannon Beach for location and vistas. Our room $179/night was small, but we had a sliver of a view of the bluff, expansive strand, and Pacific Ocean beyond.

Upon check-in we were treated to lists of local attractions, restaurants, and shops, along with warm cookies.

The deep stretch of soft, pristine sand and proximity to the famed Haystack Rock created a spectacular stage for sunset bonfires, allowing many hundreds of yards of distancing during the pandemic. What a fortuitous choice we made to stay at Hallmark.

My only suggestions:

- Build an elevator for beach access for those in need of handicap support.
- Build a toilet facility at beach level. Even for those of us who are able to climb the endless cascade of stairs, it would be so convenient to have that.

We always book a room with a kitchenette as this makes up for the lack of a hotel restaurant - and is much cheaper than eating-out every night! However there is coffee and cookies in the reception area, and a Keurig coffee maker in the room, and the resort is very close to a few restaurants and the Pelican brew-pub. We first stayed here because of the location just to the north of the Haystack, and always have a full ocean view room with balcony. This was our 12th visit, but the first since the remodeling/upgrade was completed. The room we have used to have a "Murphy bed", but now has a very comfortable "normal" king. The winter rates which end in early March are very good value.

We spent two nights at the Hallmark Resort as a part of a ten night pandemic vacation across Oregon & Northern California. We booked an Oceanfront 1 Bedroom Suite which did not disappoint. We were on the third (top) floor at the far end of the property with a million dollar view of Haystack Rock and the wide open Pacific. Enjoying morning coffee or evening wine on the deck and taking in that view was a highlight of our entire trip. The inside of the room was also great. The living area was spacious with a small table and two chairs plus a small couch on wheels that could be moved around (saw where some rooms had moved it outside). This living room served as a second bedroom at night by pulling a hidden bed down from inside the wall which was much nicer than the typical sofa bed (so nice I tried to swap beds with my daughter so I could hear the ocean all night but she declined). There was a full kitchen and all the dishes, glasses and utensils we would ever need. They were all impeccably cleaned and sanitized (we are in a pandemic!) and were in a separate box noted as such when we arrived in the room. This essentially let us know that EVERYTHING had been cleaned. The additional bedroom was also nice though lacking the view of the living area. Service was also great, though we didn't really ask for much (they gave us towels for the beach & the afternoon hot cookies were a nice touch). All in all, we faced no issues and have no complaints about our stay. Also loved watching the raccoons that live in the brush between the hotel and the beach! Having said all that, the experience was anything but inexpensive. In fact, the nightly rate was nearly double any other place we stayed on our entire trip. Breakfast was not included (as it was at most other places on our trip) nor did they have air conditioning (which wasn't really needed during our stay but it was quite hot in the days prior and I imagine it could get uncomfortably hot). We were there in high season and paid top dollar (nearly $500/night after tax) for what is certainly not a luxury property (though it is very nice). The Hallmark Resort fully met our expectations, which were quite high given the cost. Though I stop short of five stars as the value is not that exceptional. I believe it is the best or at least among the best places to stay in Cannon Beach and I recommend you stay there if you can afford it :).

Went to Hallmark Resorts in first few days after COVID opening for a 2 day 35th Anniversary trip. Rented a beautiful ocean front room with kitchen so that we could eat meals in room.
The staff were amazingly welcoming and responsive, sensitive to the need to make us feel comfortable and safe, and everything was organized and maintained exceptionally well.
The room itself was extraordinary - a pullout Murphy style queen bed in the living room that overlooked the ocean, a balcony to sit on, and a separate bedroom with a luxurious king bed. The bed was extremely comfortable ( one of our favorite hotel beds ever) and everything else in the suite was perfect.
Can't say enough about the staff and the facilities!

This was not our first visit here and it won’t be our last. The location on the beachfront with Haystack Rock right in front of the property can’t be beat. The staff was friendly and responsive to all our requests. They are taking their safety measures during COVID very seriously....we felt safe the entire time on property. We enjoyed a one bedroom suite on the oceanfront with a full kitchen so prepared much of our own food. The staff removes all cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc. after each guest, sanitizes them and returns them to the suite in a tub. We appreciate this level of sanitation. For our anniversary dinner we ordered take out from Seasons restaurant in the village, a quick 3-4 minute drive from the property, and ate in our suite by the fireplace. Wonderful stay!!

I booked a long trip down the coast on our way home from visiting family in Seattle. I have been very concerned with COVID and called all our hotels prior to booking to see what precautions they were taking, as well as what accommodations they offered with restaurants being less accessible during this time. This particular resort is amazing! Not only did every single staff member I came into contact with (including room service) wear masks and gloves, they were incredibly kind and eager to assist. My room was squeaky clean. Not even exaggerating that because I had brought all my own disinfectant supplies just in case and everything I wiped was already squeaky from being extra sanitized. So I was immediately able to relax. We enjoyed the location. With two boys, being this close to the beach was perfect. The beach itself is not crowded and super clean. We had a bonfire on the beach one night, which was amazing. I don’t think we will ever stay anywhere else. I’ve already sent pics and recommended it to my family who live in Seattle and Oregon, telling them it’s a must for their next beach vacation. Oh and the food was delicious. Georgies has great clam chowder and the fish and chips were yummy! Overall this place deserves 10 stars. I stayed at several hotels on our trip and out of 5 this one was the absolute best.

Came to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Only room available was ocean front — an October discount made room affordable so we booked. Outstanding and unobstructed view of the Haystack and Needles from our room proved unexpectedly valuable when the weather turned and stayed both wet and cold: Meant we could revel in the beauty of the sunset and the beach and ocean while warmth of fire place kept us comfortable. We kept the ocean sounds close by by cracking the door open at night… There’s nothing like the sound of the ocean to help sleep come. The beach was just a couple of steps and staircases from my room.

My friend booked a massage for 80 minutes and had an outstanding experience with a truly gifted massage therapist.

We were able to pick up warm chocolate chip cookies at 5 PM to go with our bottle of wine. The bed was very comfortable and room service was very responsive when we needed glasses for wine or additional towels.

The resort was centrally located allowed us to have the absolute best coffee, the iconic Sleepy Monk coffee, in the mornings with fresh donuts made on the premises. Turns out Sleepy Monk also had gluten-free pastry options which was fantastic. We were able to walk into town, enjoy meals because everything was close by.

You could book a 45 minute reservation for time in the pool/hot tubs there, the maximum number of guests permitted during was just 12.

Blackout curtains were extremely helpful for keeping light out so we could rest well. Room came with Keurig coffee maker and pods for a very good strong cup of coffee in the morning.

Mstarrynight Thank you for staying with us and for this detailed review regarding your stay. It sounds like you really enjoyed your time in Cannon Beach at the Hallmark Resort. Enjoying the view from our oceanfront rooms on a rainy day in front of the fireplace sounds delightful. I am happy you were also able to enjoy our spa and experience a massage by our highly talented therapist. I will be sure to pass your kind comments to our therapist. Out chocolate chip cookies are a popular item, and they do go well with a bottle of wine. Sleepy Monk is one of Cannon Beach's most popular coffee shops, definitely a must try while visiting our little town. Back again for my annual girls trip to Cannon Beach. Hallmark Hotel helps make it the perfect vacation. The view of our ocean front/panoramic view room is incredible and has to be seen to appreciate all that it offers. Looking out onto Haystack Rock and the ocean so close from the balcony is spectacular, especially starting every morning there. The hotel is clean, beds are very comfortable and the staff is always so helpful, kind and friendly. The girlfriend I brought this year was very impressed with the hotel and grounds and said that she would love to come back to Cannon Beach next summer and wants to stay at the Hallmark again.
Thanks to the staff for leaving a bottle of sparkling juice and a large souvenir bottle filled with sand and shells for my birthday stay. I have no doubt that I will be back again and again!
The short walk to the shopping and restaurants also makes it the perfect location, close enough that the walk isn't bad at all, but far enough away to come back to the grounds and feel separated from the hustle and bustle of the down town area. I've stayed at a lot of places in Cannon Beach and Hallmark is my favorite hands down.
Thank you Hallmark Resort and Hotel for a wonderful vacation experience!

We love this resort having stayed many times, originally picking it for its location near the Haystack. The room upgrades over the last couple of years have made the rooms excellent. We usually have the same room with a kitchenette so we can cook and eat-in some evenings. It is also a short walk to Newman's at 988 if one wants a great, but pricey, meal out.
At the Hallmark, Covid-19 restrictions were thorough, and we had no concerns at all, and all guests we saw seemed to be following things such as the mask rules.
We look forward to returning in October. The off-season rates are very reasonable, and we usually visit in March and October which also happen to be my and my wife's birthday months.

The Oregon coast typically doesnt reach high temperatures and with the ocean breeze, it is usually pretty moderate. However when we do get the occasional 90 degree weather, it is pretty warm until later in the evenings.
