Old world elegance complete with furnishings from a bygone era characterize the CGH. The restaurant and rooms are not inexpensive but the location overlooking the falls and the Columbia River are worth the higher prices. Restaurant food was delicious as well as pricey (although we did return a bowl of onion soup to the kitchen for having way too much pepper…and we like spicy foods). The 7 acre grounds are parklike and well-groomed. We reserved a corner Riverside king with fireplace that had lovely views and was spacious and comfortable. No train noises were noticeable as the tracks are on the garden side of the hotel. The live music by Toni and partner in the bar Saturday night was an enjoyable surprise featuring a diverse selection of songs with piano accompaniment. A short day trip to breathtaking Rowena Crest and hiking the Tom McCall Nature Sanctuary (overlooking canyons) made this one day stay very special.

Thank you for your friendly staff and service. The views of the Columbia River are amazing and I love the historical photos and style. Even the elevator doesn’t have buttons because it is the 3rd oldest Otis elevator installed! I will be back soon and recommend this place to everyone I know!

Our experience at this hotel was unsatisfactory. The accommodations were tight, and there was nothing extra provided. When I asked for a rollaway bed, they charged my card $70 and then promptly called our room to tell us that we could not, in fact, have a rollaway bed due to it being a fire hazard. The receptionist told me she would refund my card but the refund never appeared. When I called 2 weeks later to inquire about the refund, I spoke with a manager who was aggressive and refused to make the situation right.
Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hampton Inn -- it is within walking distance to down town, it has a pool, hot tub, and gym, and they provide an outstanding breakfast. If you stay at the Columbia Gorge Hotel, you'll get overpriced rooms, no extras, and terrible customer service.

While the venue area is beautiful. The basement and rooms have a musty smell to them. I do recognize the hotel is 104 years old. The price for a suite for October 10th 2024 online was 154 a night on your website. We were there for the entire weekend with a wedding party and we were charged 356 dollars a night. What a way gouge at least 15 people. Mike the waitress in the morning dining area was snippy and seemed overwhelmed both Saturday and Sunday morning by 2 customers. I asked for butter for my English muffin and got a snippy "i already slathered it but if you need more I'll bring it". Why would you butter someone else food?? Good portions for the price of food. Gorgeous scenery of course. And loved the elevator.

Beautiful location, building, and grounds with super friendly and helpful staff. The history of the building was present, especially with the elevator from 1921. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with modern amenities (if you need). Located right off the main interstate, the location is perfect as both a stopover on a longer trip and as a base to explore the Hood River and Gorge area. And despite that location, you barely hear any traffic on the quiet, relaxing nights! My light-sleeping partner was only wakened by my snores, not any traffic. The restaurant was delicious (with many locally sourced ingredients), decently priced, and staffed by great staff. Highly recommend!

The classic and historical ambience of this hotel provide a different vibe from our normal stay at the Inn along the waterfront. The older rooms were upgraded in bath and heat/AC and the bed, towels and bathrobes were a treat. And the quiet! But I don't know if that wasn't due to the offseason emptiness of the place. It was economical as well, also due to the season. We would have preferred a coffeemaker and microwave in the room, but probably wouldn't have used either. We often come just for the breakfasts, which are excellent.

While the hotel is in a beautiful area, we felt like it fell short in several areas. Our checkin was really unfriendly - not even a smile or any welcome at all. Our room and bathroom were comfortable and clean but kind of dark. Requests from housekeeping were always met with a smile. Getting ice and elevator rides from the front desk sometimes felt like it was a bother even though no one else was waiting. When the wind blew at night we could hear it coming in around the window. The gardens were nice but not comparable to other similar hotels we have stayed in that have rave reviews about the gardens. Finally, there were two weddings and a photoshoot and you felt like you had to avoid certain areas due to the festivities. Even the person at check out barely looked up and didn’t say a word as I handed over our keycards after four nights. We cancelled our additional three nights for a week later.

Cheap gaudy badly-decorated old hotel. Paid $486 for 1 Friday night in mid October, for 2 beds in 2 tiny connecting rooms joined by a tiny shared bath.(room 235). The Covid mask policy they state as in force is not. None of the staff wore, not even the operator of the sole 3x4 foot elevator. No coffee maker or microwave in rooms, could not arrange morning room service for coffee. They add $17 to your bill for a “grounds fee” for nice landscaping, but there are no other recreation facilities.
The rooms’ paint job looks like done by kindergartners—paint swiped on carpet adjacent to floor boards, nicks and gouges all over wood trim. Dust on beat-up furniture thick enough to write your name in. Only one towel per person. Hand cords on window blinds were grey-black with grim. One of the beds had black streak on the underside of blanket (next to sleeper). Sheets were worn and cheap thin quality. The mattress was comfortable. Black mold around tub caulking. Shower nozzle back plate not sealed to wall, so falls down exposing gapping plumbing hole in wall, lovely. And finally, the TV service requires you to link your own subscribed channels through your own smart phone if you want to see HBO etc. Procedure was so scrambled that we gave up, even though one of us is a senior PM at a major software company with experience on the engineering side, so competent at this stuff.
Worth about $100, not $500.

The grounds had beautifull holiday lighting. The checkin was friendly and efficient. If you are on an upper floor and have much luggage, the elevator is old and must be operated by staff, so be advised when making reservations. The stairway carpeting has a dizzying pattern that is unique. Once in the room, the windows were drafty but the Amana heating system was warm and toasty. Plenty of water pressure. We slept very well after a very enjoyable Saturday evening dinner complete with piano and singalong vocals. Dessert was exquisite. Breakfast was also enjoyable as we gazed at the grounds outside and despite a light rain, a careful walk on the surrounding rocky terrain with bridges, waterfalls, and creek with resident ducks was brisk and refreshing. We had some light business to take care of when another couple arrived and the lobby area was roomy and a very comfortable setting to accomplish that. That's why we chose this charming historic hotel to stay and look forward to another visit.

There's designated parking near main entrance. Entering the hotel is on a flat surface. There's an elevator to floors with rooms. Access to dining areas is also on flat floors. I think I saw ADA compatible rooms when making my reservation. Hope this helps.
