Nestled along the scenic Columbia River Gorge, the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn charms guests with its tranquil and inviting atmosphere, particularly enchanting in the evening with its romantic vibe. Travelers frequently commend the hotel's picturesque location and the stunning river views it offers, though there are some mentions of noise from the nearby freeway. The hotel's amenities, including a well-maintained pool, a fitness center, and excellent dining options, are often highlighted by guests. Rooms are generally met with approval for their cleanliness and comfort, despite occasional remarks about outdated decor and freeway noise. While many find the hotel to provide fair value, including breakfast coupons, opinions on pricing do vary. The service is well-regarded, with staff described as friendly and helpful, though not without sporadic comments on front desk disorganization.

River front by the pool, adjacent to freeway, No Sleep:
Depends on the location of the room, the executive new building with rooms facing the river, the last rooms 327, 329, 331, 333, 335 (335 is the last corner room with the pool on the right) are very noisy from the busy freeway on the right. After a sleepless night, they moved ask to the first section a room between 301-311 and it was great. Way better. We slept.
The hotel location: easy access to hyw 84
Room: clean room, bed is comfortable
The single unit AC is slightly loud. We opened the door for ventilation and coolness (depends on weather and temperature).
Amenities: coffee maker, does not work properly. Refrigerator is good with proper freezer section. NO WINE GLASSES. Get some from the bar or restaurant.
Bathroom: shower has good pressure.
Restaurant: the riverside restaurant is amazing. Read my separate detailed review
Front desk and housekeeping are amazingly friendly and helpful
Final impression: we were surprised and impressed and very pleased with this best western hotel.

We travel to the Oregon coast several times each year, and this hotel in Hood River has become our favorite stop along the way, going and coming. The exceptional front desk staff starts our stay in such a positive way. Kerry is a joy! Staff at check out makes us sorry to be leaving. I think it was Maria who was so wonderful last week. Jessica does a super job as Manager. And thank you for the upgrade to the River View Deluxe. We felt extra special.

The rooms are clean and comfortable with excellent Wi-Fi. After being upgraded to an Executive room several months ago, this has become our accommodation of choice! We love the walk-in shower and fluffy towels. Housekeeping staff is always so friendly.

The Riverside restaurant is incredible! We especially like the baked oatmeal for breakfast. Great 8-grain toast, terrific bacon. Pasta for dinner is wonderful. And the peach salad….wow!

Always a great stay!

We booked this place on our way to the Oregon Coast for vacation, great location with a Heated outdoor pool which we didn’t know about until later, we had a river view room and was very pleased, close to lots of food options, Starbucks and other shopping and just a short drive to downtown which is full of little shops and restaurants. This place has a restaurant as well which we had dinner at, the rooms were spacious with platform beds, good size mini fridge, Keurig coffee maker, large tv and the beds were super comfortable. The bathrooms did have some hairs on the floor but the shower had amazing water pressure and the place could use some updating, but overall great location and very quiet and comfortable with amazing views of the river. Friendly staff and ample parking, they have ice and vending machines easily accessible and looks like they do have pet friendly rooms. Definitely worth staying at and easy access from the interstate.

The only reason we give the hotel even two stars is due to the staff and the good quality restaurant and bar. Otherwise it really deserves one star based on the quality of the rooms and hotel in general. The restaurant and bar are good, the food was well prepared, and despite being very busy both the waitstaff and bartenders were friendly, accommodating, and prompt with their service. High marks for the restaurant and staff. The front desk and housekeeping staff were also friendly. The bed linens seemed clean and the mattress was ok.

The hotel is situated with nice views of the river on one side and they take advantage of this and a lack of other hotel options in the area with serious overpricing. We paid an outrageous $765 for two nights (Sat & Sun) in a basic first floor king river view room. The room is very outdated and in desperate need of renovation. The furniture is scratched and stained, the carpet in the room and the hallways were stained in multiple places, and it smelled strongly of “cleaning perfume”. After having the shower on for just a few minutes the tub filled with 3” of water. We reported this to the front desk who told us they would have someone come fix the drain the next day, yet no one came and the same problem occurred. The faucet handles on both the shower and sink were very loose making it difficult to regulate the water temperature. The towels were thin and totally threadbare, so bad that we opted to use the towels provided for the pool instead of the ones in the bathroom. The bottom of the bathroom door is splintered badly, either from age or flooding.

The view from the room was nice, not spectacular and in no way justified the price of the room. Would recommend staying elsewhere and going to the restaurant/ bar for dinner or a drink to enjoy the view. We did appreciate a 20% refund provided by the general manager after completing the online survey after our stay. The reasoning provided for the high room charge was that it was still high season, however the condition of the rooms and hotel in general does not justify the prices they are charging even with the discount. The rooms are terribly overpriced.

Dear laurakS6840BI, First off, we're happy to hear you appreciated our friendly, accommodating staff as well as the quality of our restaurant and bar, Riverside. We are also glad you enjoyed our location on the shoreline with river views. Regarding our pricing, for several years now, it has been based on seasonal demand and our room rates are comparable with other local hotels of similar quality. Lower room rates are generally found for mid-week and in off-peak dates. October continues to be high peak, with one of the area's biggest annual events, Harvest Fest, held last weekend. Additionally, harvest time in our agricultural area, accompanied by scenic fall colors make this a very popular time to visit. About our accommodations, I can offer a couple points. First, we make continual upgrades to our guest rooms, and let's hope your room is next on our rotation (we are still behind from two very slow years of business during the pandemic). It’s best to make reservations directly with our hotel staff by phoning our 800# to express any preferences on room. We thank you for visiting.

Great 2 night stay at end of hiking holiday. Very busy popular hotel right on the river room had river view and balcony and was spectacular uncluttered comfortable accommodation. Pool on the river was amazing as was the riverside restaurant. Free parking with easy access to footpath to waterfront or town centre all really walkable. Cheerful pleasant staff who made our stay comfortable and welcoming thank you for all your hard work.

Professional service, beautiful view and great family stay! We stayed here for a long wedding weekend and would definitely stay here again. Beautiful view of the Columbia River, well kept grounds, nice friendly restaurant and late night bar. Bartenders know how to make tasty cocktails. Rooms were clean and towels were brought within minutes. There is a pool but we did not go swimming. We were extremely pleased with what the hotel has to offer. We even had a magnificent view of the northern lights during our stay. Hotel is close to so many gorgeous hikes, wineries, falls, Mt. Hood and all the breweries. We lost power for a few hours but it was a town wide shortage. I noticed the restaurant put out a fresh water dispenser / cooler right away for the guests to enjoy. The parking lot seemed secure and there is enough parking available. Starbucks and McDonalds are both within close walking distance. Front desk staff and restaurant servers were all very friendly and helpful. The far right side of the hotel seemed to have air conditioning issues in the hallway. It was uncomfortably warm when walking to this side of the hotel but our family staying in this area had no issues with their air conditioning inside their rooms. The hallway air was eventually fixed. Overall we would stay here again. Beautiful area and if you go to any brewery go to Pfriem.

The location on the river was exceptional. The staff was able to let us check in early. The pool and hot tub are gorgeous and well cared for. The room was clean and spacious. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant, which had some unique options and everything was tasty! $10 off per adult for breakfast made it almost free - but the service was slow, which was understandable since there is such a staffing shortage everywhere nationwide. Housekeeping shortages meant rooms are only cleaned daily by request (which was fine by me, but I wanted to note for those who might care about that). We went to a rehearsal dinner here as well and the food and room were great. It was a great home base for a weekend wedding trip.

We have visited this property many times in the past twenty years, and are greatly saddened to witness the decline in the physical plant due to deferred and/or neglected maintenance. Their location on the Columbia River is superb, but with room rates north of $300 nightly, management needs to raise the priority of maintenance and repairs in the budget. The number one priority should be repair of the fire exit doors in the East wing. The "Panic Bar" is missing on the easternmost door of the exit from the inside to the river side outdoors. This door cannot be opened from the inside OR the outside! Other items which detracted from our stay include the lack of a screen door to our patio, a VERY loose patio door handle, a patio concrete bench covered with moss and mold, lack of a clock radio, a rocking toilet loose on the floor with a leaking wax ring, and a misaligned room door bolt strike plate which doesn't permit the door to mate with the weather stripping, so hallway noise enters the room. Although not an issue for us, the tub to wall caulking is failing in our room (121), another example of poor maintenance practices. On the positive side of the ledger, restaurant staff are friendly and restaurant views of the river are great.

This is our third time at this hotel, so we clearly love the location. It's right on the Columbia, has great views of the bridge into White Salmon, has an excellent heated pool and big hot tub, and a lovely restaurant. And it's about a 20 minute walk along the river to get to Ferment and pFriem Breweries, and a 20 minute walk up the hill to get into downtown Hood River. No need to drive anywhere!

This time for my son's birthday we upgraded to a "junior suite" and when we opened the doors to the Latourell Suite we were immediately impressed. HUGE room. King bed, wet bar, dining table big enough for serious board games, private balcony. But the real plus is the extra bedroom, which has a queen bed and it's own office. Views from both rooms are amazing, and the functionality of having the separate room for the kid made for a next level hotel experience.

Service here is always excellent. The staff are friendly and efficient and the environment is upbeat. The restaurant is a bit spendy, but the food is great and the location cannot be beat. Don't skip the breakfast -- you get a $10 credit per person and breakfast is about $15, so you can get an excellent meal in an amazing location for a few bucks.

I love this hotel. I wish I could stay here every weekend.

What a wonderful hotel, location, and value! We brought our dog and appreciated that the pet-friendly room was on the ground floor with a slider leading outside. They provided a nice doggie treat bag. The room was comfy and quiet. We wish we had more time to explore the lovely "Shoreline Path" that's along the river. The views are gorgeous! We took advantage of the breakfast vouchers and dined in the restaurant (again, with gorgeous views of the river). Breakfast was DELICIOUS. There can be a bit of a wait, so try to go early.
