We spent a lovely overnight stay in this sweet and very comfortable hotel which is right by the Deschutes River with swing seats alongside. We had to do all the arrangements by phone as no staff on site to check us in which was a little unusual but all very straightforward Our room was spotlessly clean very comfortable with lovely lighting and a fishing theme which might sound odd but was wonderful Very good self service breakfast included. Also we enjoyed dinner on site at the separately run restaurant

Great location and the rooms are clean. Great, helpful staff at the hotel and the on-site restaurant is very good, especially the burgers & beer selection. Already booked a room for June, 2024. It is worth getting a river front room - we found it very enjoyable watching the river action and the volleyball.

Imperial River Co. was a very nice hotel. It sits on the Deschutes River so the setting is very pleasant. The room was nice, comfortable, clean. Just know ahead that the rooms have no TV’s- Read the fine print. The breakfast they provide is basic, but ranges from bagels, cereal to biscuit/sausages & great coffee. Bar/ Restaurant only open a few hours in evening, limited menu.

The rooms were very accommodating with the motif (we were in the Angler room). The restaurant was excellent with the food and service and staff The rafting was awesome with our guide Beau being a professional rafter and guide! Fishing was a blast as there are a lot of spots to fish from. I’m looking forward to coming back! Another amazing aspect of the hotel is the coordination of the trains entertaining us as it goes by with the conductor sounding his whistle!

Our family loved the adjoining #3 and #4 rooms, creating a three bed two bath combined unit. The themes for each were distinct and thoughtful. The AC was well up to the task of the aptly named Bake Oven road area. The grounds are well kept and the activities fun for the whole family.

The room was well appointed and tastefully decorated, but the proximity of other rooms and either a constantly running fan next door all night or a generator made it difficult to get to sleep. I recommend travelers bring along a pair of earplugs, which I did not have on this trip. I also did not appreciate that the small tavern and restaurant were closed during the beginning of the Salmon Fly hatch (May 20th or so this year), when so many fisherman want to be able to relax and enjoy a drink and good meal at the end of a long day.

This is an absolutely beautiful spot for a relaxing weekend. That being said, you might have a different experience at the height of rafting season but that still would take nothing away from the service and beautiful location. We really enjoyed our stay and the history of the area that is woven in to this place.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. Self-serve continental breakfast with micro-wave and toaster to heat frozen or fresh items. Beautiful location on the river, nice patios out sliding glass doors. Only negative is awful toilet paper. Shreds easily.

This lodge is right on the banks of the river. Rooms are individually themed, with thoughtful painted sayings and scenes on the walls, books in the rooms to represent the theme, and have great AC and wifi. The restaurant and bar are equally great. The hotel also runs a river-rafting company. We went out for a full day with trained and knowledgable guides, all care toward safety but with an eye for fun (splashing other boats, jumping off cliffs, etc.) They provided us a high quality and delicious lunch, and the price was WAY more than reasonable. The temp was 112 during our stay there and we had planned an outside, and the hotel generously let us use their air-conditioned breakfast room instead, free of charge.
Staff are helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast went way beyond expectations. This place is a real gem.

Unfortunately, this is the 'nicest' motel in town. I have to tell you, I love Maupin, it's a cute town, I love the river, and rafting on the river, I've been back multiple times with different rafting companies and all of them are so nice and friendly! The problem is the hotel. When I first got there, I arrived early, as we were driving up from Portland, OR and had a rafting trip at 1pm. Our room wasn't ready which was fine, but the girl at the counter seemed to have an attitude and she informed me that they would text me when my room was ready. Well, 3 hours later, after rafting, I checked my phone and no text. I was confused so I went to the desk to ask if my room was ready and the young man at the desk informed me it was. Now, why say you'll text me when my room is ready, if you weren't going to do that? The young man was the nicest person at the hotel and hotel restaurant during the entire trip. We were exhausted from being on the river all day and were so excited to go eat. Let me tell you, for a town that thrives on tourists in the summer, you'd think the service would be much better. I was in a party of 5, and 3 of us got veggie burgers, and one person got fish and chips and one person got the chicken dish. The food took almost an hour. A table of 4 who sat down a few minutes before we got our food, received their food as we were finishing eating. What is that all about? How long does making 3 veggie burgers take?It wouldn't have been so bad had our waitress not been snotty, and had an attitude, just like the gal at the Front Desk. If she had asked us if we wanted any refills, or if we were doing okay while we waited, little hospitality things like that probably would have softened the blow of having to wait an hour for our food. The food was not worth it. Veggie burgers were nasty, not enough sauce, and the chicken was rubbery. We barely ate anything. Such a disappointment after a long day of fun. The room. There was a smashed bug on the wall right by the night stand and the water in the tub barely drained. I don't want to stand in my own shower water. We had two connecting rooms on the top floor and for some reason, one room was freezing cold right when we walked in, and the other rooms was super hot and stuffy. Doesn't housekeeping set the thermostat the same in each room? Doesn't someone inspect the room before checking people into it? It just felt dirty and definitely not worth the price! Overall, I was not impressed at all, and the terrible experience at the hotel/restaurant makes me not want to come back to Maupin, even though I love the river rafting. Someone needs to go build a hotel with great staff and good food and service, then I will be back. Hopefully someone can take this review to heart and make some serious improvements!
