This is The Best place to stay on the Oregon coast: accommodation; staff; cleanliness of the room; utensils , pots, pans, wine glasses. They even clean the front windows every day so you have a fantastic view of the ocean from your deck.

Hotel's Favourite
Built in the 1940’s and well maintained with a few modern updates makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time. Seriously, its so well maintained, you’ll think you are on a movie set. The place was extra clean, cleaner than few Hiltons we stayed at. The staff are wonderful and really care about their work. In short, this place is a treasure.

Perfect cottage style stay. Great view and perfect for our dogs. We appreciate the effort to make it possible to travel in style with our pets. Electric fireplace added to the ambiance and the bed and pillows were amazing.

Our stay, was just perfect! Quiet and beautiful and friendly. I can hardly wait to go back! We enjoyed the view from our porch, cracking crab at a picnic table, and visiting by the fire pit. The room is very comfortable, too.

Excellent hospitality, cleanliness, helpfulness. Loved the location & venue. Thanx too for the extras: special coffee and soaps, dog equipment & supplies, and the postcards! We were especially blessed to meet Paula! Thank you.

We pulled into this great little spot on a Friday evening without a reservation and didn't know what to expect. We quickly went from "aren't little roadside motels a bit seedy?" to "oh, wow, we probably can't afford this place even if they do have room for us!". I'm happy to report that we were so wrong on both accounts! We fell in love with the place before we even got out of the car. It's on a cliff (far enough back to not be scary) overlooking Agate Beach and the property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. The ten rooms all face the ocean and each has its own little deck with patio furniture. There's also a few nice grassy spots and a gas firepit with Adirondack chairs. There is a private staircase down to the beach and it has several landings with more seating. Upon entering the cute little lobby, we met Paula and were happy to hear that they had one room left that night and the price was very reasonable. After checking in, Paula herself showed us to our room, which was really a suite. A comfortable living room with an amazing view, a gas fireplace and nice furniture with touches that made it feel more like a home - like wool throw blankets. The bedroom was on the smaller side - but perfect for us and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was fine - perhaps a bit outdated, but that truly adds to the charm. The water pressure was great! And the kitchen was the big surprise, with a full size fridge, stove and all of the utensils and appliances you might need to cook an entire meal. There was cream in the fridge for our coffee and an assortment of teas, etc. Customer service means a lot to me, and although I would come back here in a heartbeat (and definitely plan to!) for the views, location and great room - it was Paula who truly made the difference. We were on day 3 of a 2 week long roadtrip and our campground reservations for that night had fallen through - hence the emergency stop at the motel. We were a bit frazzled and very tired. Paula was just so kind and welcoming. And neither one of us had ever had a desk employee walk us to our room! She showed us how things worked, where the lights all were, explained the recycling program, gave us an after hours emergency number and was just a delight to talk to! Very personable and kind - but also very professional and efficient. The Agate is lucky to have her. We were in the room for about five minutes before we started planning our next trip here, which will be for much longer than one night. We plan on bringing my wife's parents for a visit and think it will be the perfect spot for many future family gatherings. Thank you Agate Beach Motel and we'll be looking forward to seeing you again!

The only negative was that our trip was too short! The ocean front charm is perfect. No kitsch. Great coffee. Our pup was welcomed. Watching surfers in the rain was an unexpected treat. Love this gem on the Oregon coast.
