We spent the night in the Escapade Room which was super comfy/cozy and quiet. The house is lush with antiques-something new to catch the eye every time we walked through. My only disappointment was that since it was November & considered the off season the breakfast was self serve/continental. The hosts, Steve and Dusty were kind and helpful.

Our stay was inviting with the most cordial, friendly, and down to earth hosts, Steve and Dusty. We enjoyed our spacious room with a comfortable king-sized sleep number bed. We had our own bathroom and a turret that let in tons of light even on a cloudy day. It was delightful to sit in the turret and read when the...

We booked the basement room at the last minute as it was the only one available. It was more like an apartment with our own kitchen, bathroom, laundry and outside entrance. The whole house is decorated in the era and its extremely well done, but comfortable. Steve and Dusty have been at this awhile and its obvious because every detail...

Don't go any further when you are looking for a place to stay in Portland. The 5-star historic Victorian home will appeal to you if you want privacy or want to enjoy meeting new folks. Steve and Dusty were lovely hosts who welcomed me after a long day's drive. I'll certainly return to the Lion and the Rose!

Dusty and Steve are businesslike and yet friendly; the rooms are gorgeous (I stayed in the turret room, having always loved turrets!); the breakfast was continental but included yogurt and hard boiled eggs as well as many choices of cereal and toast. Great coffee available as early as 6:30. Couldn't have been nicer! And then there's the location. Wow. What...

I was visiting Portland on a business trip. Because I left early in the morning and arrived back late, I did not have the breakfast, but very much appreciated the treats in the dining room. Upon arriving, I received an excellent tour and was made to feel very welcome. The Lion and the Rose was conveniently located to my business...

Lovely home with wonderful inn keepers. They really care about their customers and do everything to please you. Extremely knowledgeable about area and they provided easy to use maps for us. Great location - walk to anything you need. Fabulous breakfast and snacks. Sleep number beds for perfect comfort as well as "comfy" sheets. Slept better here than at home....

We recently stayed 3 nights in the basement apartment. It was the perfect arrangement for our family. It was roomy & there were so many little touches that made it feel like home. There was a kitchen table where we could play cards at night. We were close to shops & great little local restaurants. We had things to do...

Delightful, and so full of historical associations! Dusty really has a great attention to detail. Lovely stay in a property decorated in true Victorian style with mementoes etc. We got the one upstairs with no bathroom, but it was extra nice

We spent 4 nights here in the Rose room & love it, if we are ever back in the area we will stay here again. It's a beautiful historic Victorian home & they serve a very hearty breakfast. They provide great maps of the area & are helpful in letting you know the area. They also have light snacks &...
