A wonderful hotel where the staff were helpful and engaging but not quite sure they have doorman dressed as a 'Beefeater' novel and quaint though. Terrific cocktail bar with classic cocktails and the restaurant was ok but not amazing, although the food was well cooked and well presented, this was coloured by how quiet it was. Room was excellent and...

This hotel is amazing. There are gilded footmen at the entrance (okay, actually they are valets), the lobby is immaculate, and the staff is fantastic. Check-in was a simple process. I mentioned in another review of a Portland hotel just how customer-oriented the staff is. This hotel rivals that one. The room is nice, the bed was incredible - best...

We spend the night at the Heathman as part of a package we purchased as an auction as we live here in Portland. I've eaten there before but never stayed. On my room request, I mentioned I was allergic to down and that we were celebrating our anniversary. There was a personal, handwritten note in the room saying it had...

The Heathman is a lovely, historic hotel. But there are a few quirks you should be aware of. Each room has a french press coffee set up, which seems like a wonderful idea EXCEPT that it's rather difficult to make french press (measuring, heating water in the kettle, pouring, pressing) in the dark while your partner is sleeping. Second, beware...

My husband and I stayed one night while visiting Portland from Virginia. We arrived very early in the day and the staff welcomed us and got us checked in early. Although the rooms and baths are small everything was very cozy and comfortable. The staff is really what makes this place special. The location can be beat - we walked...

My wife and I had a very short stay at this established and very well located hotel. My wife had stayed there before the ownership had changed and wanted to go back, so we gave it a second chance. Let me preface my negative remarks by saying that they are all meant to be constructive and I would still stay...

My husband, adult son and recently spent 5 nights at the Heathman--first visit to Portland. Overall, our room, a Symphony Suite, was adequate, albeit very cozy, for the 3 of us. With the sofa bed extended, there was little room to get to the desk. The bathroom was tiny, but we had a second sink outside of the bathroom, which...

Location is beyond perfect, and the staff is kind. The rooms are lovely. But we had three problems; one of which would keep me from staying there again. The rooms are poorly soundproofed. An adjoining door (locked) meant that the headboard of our bed was right by another person's room. Fortunately the folks next door were moderate in noise--still, I...

Dear CurlsPearce, While I am happy to read that you enjoyed the location and the staff I clearly do not have the same response to your desire to not stay again. We are a hotel built in 1927 so we do have some limitations as a result of the age of the building, however a quiet room is something our...

I spend several weeks a month in Portland, moved to the Heathman 6+ months ago. They have no loyalty program so they don't treat their best customers with the necessary appreciation. Tonight I checked into a postage stamp sized room, can barely get around the bed. To add salt the ice machine is broken! Called the front desk, 20 minutes...

Dear Greg M, As this review just occurred, I think while you were still staying with us, I am sorry you didn't accept my attempts to reach you and the efforts of the team here to care for you during your stay. I have just joined the team myself, and while I know we have many talented people on property...

We enjoyed the Heathman. Booked a large corner room that had been refurbished recently. Good linens, comfortable pillows. Wireless worked. Friendly and quick check in. Only a block from Pioneer Square and you can walk to historical museum and art museum. 2 blocks to Nordstom. It was noisy from street traffic, since we had windows open. Good breakfast in dining...
