We were surprised an older hotel was this nice. The room was very updated and clean. A little loud but that can be expected in an older hotel where the rooms are close together. The free breakfast was excellent! Great location to downtown and within walking distance many restaurants.

Dear SleepRX, Thank you for the wonderful appraisal of our hotel. Our staff is very proud of our service level and great recognition like this really goes a long way to help cement the impact they have on our guest's experience! We look forward to future visits, Scott Snyder General Manager

This hotel is located squarely downtown in the sleepy capitol town of Salem. The city it self is nearly devoid of any development greater than 4 stories and overall resembles a Norman Rockwell portrait. The Grand Hotel fits neatly within this picture frame. While dated to some extent, it certainly has some local charm and honestly is one of the...

Dear SleepRX, Thank you for the appraisal. We do hope to have our guest feel very comfortable with their visits to the hotel, I would characterize Salem as a friendly community, not too pretentious. We want our guest experience to reflect that feeling. I do appreciate the observations relating to the age of the facility, as we've just celebrated our...

I stayed here one night for a business trip. The hotel is quite nice but nothing unique or particularly special. The rooms are quite large but there were some nicks and scratches on the furniture and walls. On the positive side, the parking was free and the hotel is located in downtown Salem. The staff were quite friendly.

Dear TorontoLeesar, Thank you for the wonderful comments about our team and the great location we get to share and enjoy! As we just celebrated our 10 year anniversary in March of this year, we will be undertaking a rather extensive facelift to much of the guest room including carpets, furniture, wallpaper and in the public areas, furniture and carpets....

This hotel is way over priced for what one gets. You pay a premium price, in Salem, for a plain Day's Inn or Motel 6. The beds were low quality as were the bathrooms, the covers on the bed, the TV, the carpets, the walls, front room, the mattress, the air conditioning, the food downstairs, the décor, the overall look...

Dear Schwendiman, Thank you for your thoughts about our hotel. I do hope that your future visits to other facilities in Salem bring you more pleasure than we did. We certainly don't want to make our guests feel like this. Scott Snyder General Manager

This was our second stay and the last. We travel a lot so I am really tuned in to the experience. First off there should be optional valet parking judging by the looks of the place. There was a bit of a line when we checked in. The clerk was nice but kept answering the phone and ignoring all the...

Dear Grandmary, Thank you for the comments, we will certainly take your suggestions into consideration for our scheduling needs. I presume that while you were waiting, the second desk agent was on a lunch break, we would never schedule one person on a shift by themselves. I do apologize that you caught us understaffed and for the inconvenience. Take care,...

This is my second review for The Grand Hotel in about nine months. The room was comfortable, clean and met my needs (during the day . . .) At night it was a different story. I made my reservation a couple of weeks in advance and when I arrived the hotel appeared to be less than half full. There was...

Dear Marla, I am very sorry for the inconvenience the construction that was being done caused you. We met with the City prior to when this 3 month project started and went over the contractor's schedule to help minimize the impact on the hotel. That being said, best laid plans can backfire. According to our contacts with the City, some...

My family stayed here for a wedding summer before last. We have a small child, and the hotel staff made our stay fantastic. They provided a pack and play in our room, and we had a room with a half wall that separated the crib from our bed. It helped the baby sleep so much better, because he couldn't see...

My boyfriend and I were visiting his family in Salem and this was right down the street from where they lived. We expected a lot more based on what we had to pay! Check-in was easy. Dear Larkin21, Thank you for the comments, I am very sorry for our housekeeping staff didn't complete the cleaning of your room prior to your return from your day out. Needing a place to stay in Salem? There are many choices of motels and hotels. But finding one that has fair reviews and lives up to the hype is hard to find.
