Timberline Lodge is located in a breathtaking location. And the staff is fantastic: friendly, kind and open. Much about the lodge is wonderful... such a beautiful old building with so much history. BUT, there are serious issues: Our room smelled. It was just plain dirty. The carpets needed cleaning and there's no ventilation. The furniture, while rustic with much character,...

We made the drive up the mountain just to spend the afternoon in the lodge as we didn't have a great deal of time after our business was concluded; but, it was definitely worth it. The views were breathtaking. The drive a little harrowing due to recent ice and snow falls; but, it only added to the charm of the...

People must realize that this building was constructed of local materials in the 1930s - it is NOT a modern-upscale hotel. It's an experience of the early 20th Century in a Spectacular location. As a native Oregonian, I have stayed here many times. Sometimes in the larger rooms, sometimes in the lesser. This time I was in a west end...

If you are coming here, it is to ski and do outdoor things. There is not much here other than the hotel and skiing. But the skiing was great and the location was wonderful. Restaurants were okay - not great. Nice big fireplace in lobby.

So we arrived on what could have been the windiest day on earth. Once arrived we received an email telling us it wasn't safe to drive up.... thumbs up for warning people. I got the feeling staff were pretty grumpy to be stuck there, but one young gentleman was a superstar and found me a hot water bottle. The 'frat...

The Timberline Lodge is a great lodging experience. Comfortable but small room with amazing views, easy access to a variety of on-site restaurants, and great starting point for spectacular day hikes. Perfect summertime weather of warm sun, dry air, cool evenings. Particularly enjoyed the hiking followed by a visit to the hot tub.

I visit Oregon every year or two and almost always hit up the Timberline Lodge. It’s an amazingly scenic drive if you go east along the Columbia Gorge and turn off at Hood River (the long way around Mount Hood). We spend all day playing on the road, snapping pictures and enjoying the fresh air. By the time we get...

Book early as this place fills up year round. We stayed here for my sister's birthday in July. If you like history and great views this a wonderful lodge in the American tradition. Get a room with a view of Mt. Hood, enjoy the fine dining, watch the sunset, go on a hike, and be sure to visit Trillium Lake...

We stayed one night at 2 queen room just to see what's up there. It was very rustic and grand. Very cozy: fireplace everywhere! We had great deal with 4 course dinner with wine sampling for $299/nite. There was heated outside pool, jacuzzi and sauna. We didn't know there's a facility like this; ended up buying a swimsuits at the...

Blue skies, great Snow and lunch in the historic timberline Lodge. We had a picky eater, a vegetarian and two omnivores... Everyone had something they liked from the buffet. I had rare roast beef and a few of us tried a vegetarian borscht.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977, Timberline Lodge is one of Oregon's most popular tourist attractions, drawing nearly two million visitors every year. Considered an architectural wonder, it's still being used for its original intent-a magnificent ski lodge and mountain retreat for all to enjoy. Timberline Lodge is filled with amazing spaces that beg enjoyment. The main headhouse lobby features three fireplaces at the base of a 90 foot chimney. The outdoor patios offer the most stunning views in Oregon. The outdoor pool is heated and open year round. With so many places to explore all under one roof, you'll feel as if the Lodge is an extension of your guest room. Each room in Timberline Lodge has a unique rustic elegance, yet a modern and comfortable feel. All rooms have period furnishings, artwork and decor. Enjoy fresh powder feather beds, the year 'round heated pool, spa and sauna. Rooms range from premier fireplace rooms to European style bunk rooms. Regardless of which room suits you best, they all share an authentic sense of place found only in one of the Historic Hotels of America. Timberline offers the longest ski season in North America. The winter season typically begins early to mid-November and continues through Memorial Day. Our Palmer Express high-speed quad lift allows us to operate later into the summer season than anyone else (usually through Labor Day). Many years, we're open for fall skiing as well. ... more   less
