We enjoyed the place. Very nice little movie theater. Great soaking pool (even in the pouring rain). Loved Jerry’s Ice House. We disliked the room ( tired mattress and pillows, ridiculous shower) . It was quite noisy (guests in hall, banging doors). Would return to venue, but will never spend the night there again.
Absolutely love this place. First the building, it is so large, so unique like all the Mcmenamins properties. But then! This property has a winery, distillery, brewery, several restaurants and a soaking pool. The prices are very reasonable, you can buy wine at the winery and bring it with you to the restaurant. Great deal, the food is very good and also very reasonable. And after all that wining and dining and touring the grounds, go soak in the soaking pool in the evening. Love this place.
I returned to Edgefield after a number of years and still love staying there. It is rather "shabby sheik" in the best way possible. The creativity of the use of buildings on the property, the very friendly staff, the openness to concerts, adult beverages and just being itself is charming to me. I could be on the property and choose from a number of venues for dinner or lunch and hang out in one of the cubby holes designed for being quiet as you read a book or having a quiet conversation with a friend. It is one of my favorite hotels.
We just had a wonderful time at the Sharyl Crow concert on the lawn. It was a total experience. We are on the passport hunt, but there were too many bars to try out and not enough time to get all the stamps, but we will be back! The whole lawn experience and setting up your chairs way in advance is something we learned first hand. Although were were behind about 500 people, there were another 1000 behinds us, we set our chairs at 2, others did it at 7:00AM. There were great places and plenty of room for everyone, we liked the right side the best as we could get closer, but it is the sunny side in the afternoon as you wait. Long lines for food and drinks were the only issue. The Hotel itself was great, huge room, no A/C or TV, but were were not there for the TV anyway, the FANS they setup in the room made it barable. The room have a story in them, painted around the walls. There is a shared bathroom down the hall that is big and was never an issue, for just one night. I would give it a 5 stars for the experience, but no A/C and no private bath brought it down a notch, wish it could be 4.5…
They sold 5 times the amount of tickets they should have to Cheryl Crow concert. None of the workers were trained. There was no place to sit. They made us take our 4 x 6 blanket back and my purse. On the ticket it says 4 x 6 blanket allowed. They handed out plastic bags to put purse stuff in but forgot to mention or write anywhere a purse wasn’t allowed. They don’t know how to direct traffic. They ran out of food..Total chaos. Save your money. You’ll have a frustrating experience, starve, won’t be able to see, and probably get covid.
