The inn is well-maintained and clean, owners helpful with tips on dining. However, when we arrived one a half hour ahead of time and instead of a friendly greeting welcoming us to their BandB, got a talking to from Cherl about how "you know checkin time isn't until 3" and she was not dressed to receive us, and we caught...

Gee, Carol, I'm so sorry that I wasn't welcoming, when you arrived early, but we only have from 11AM check-out until 3PM check-in, to clean up after breakfast, clean up to 7 rooms upstairs and all five parlors downstairs, do laundry, arrange flowers, answer emails, take reservations, send confirmations, and answer the phone. etc., etc., etc. I guarantee that if...

This historic home, located on several acres of land with beautiful gardens and fountains was a welcome home base for my husband and I during our recent trip through Pennsylvania. The cost, the accommodations, the tasty and filling breakfasts, the friendly (yet NOT pestering) dog, the opportunity to visit with other travelers, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the owners...

Here is my ‘Beware!’ note. I contacted this place to reserve a 2-3-night stay in September 2015. When asked about a senior discount, a manager/owner said he would be able to provide a discount but would contact us the next day with the exact rate. I advanced my cc information and gave him my e-mail and cell phone number. I...

I’m so sorry that this potential guest did not understand the whole reservation process, at a B&B. Upon taking his reservation Chip explained that he would email a confirmation of his 3-night reservation. The guest confirmed that he received the confirmation, when they later spoke, because he mentioned my name and that was only on the confirmation. When he had...

I just came back from a visit to Longwood Gardens. I stayed at the Pennsbury Inn, which is about 4 miles away from Longwood. It is located in Chadds Ford on Baltimore Pike. Chip is a great host, and Cheryl, his wife does an amazing job with her garden. A mini Longwood! So many places to sit and relax and...

Karen, I apologize for taking so long to respond, but we'd had some problems, accessing our reviews. Chip was delighted that you gave him credit for the breakfast, especially because I do most of the work, late at night, when my guests are sleeping, and he (being the early bird) serves. He will readily accept the praise though!! I certainly...

Friend and I headed to beautiful Pennsylvania for her birthday and garden hopping. Loved Longwood Garden and terrific Brandywine Museum. Not so much Pennsbury Inn. Felt like it needed some serious updating. Nice garden, average breakfast. Could have used a bit more air conditioning in our room and the location on a busy street might affect some folks sleep. Owners...

I so wish that Lynn had shared some insight on how to update a c.1714 inn without destroying its history, because I feel that we have to be very cautious in that regard. Part of its history is the location on the "road to Baltimore:, which has always been a busy road, hence the many buffers and the "sound" machine...

This was our second time to stay at the Pennsbury Inn -this time with our 10 year old granddaughter. Our stay at the inn was like experiencing a living history lesson, and the expansive grounds and Tucker, the dog, were wonderful attractions for her. The location is perfect for visits to the many famous gardens and historical homes, antique shops...

How sweet of you to take the time to do a review again! We were delighted to see you again and especially with your adorable, polite and interested granddaughter. I only wish my granddaughter had been here as well. I know that they would have gotten along famously. I'm so glad that you all enjoyed yourselves. By the way the...

This was a lovely historic house that was very quaint...if you could see it. There was a stuffed animal or object in every corner and on top of every surface. Too much furniture to appreciate the lines of its own architecture. There was no visual freedom when you walked through. The kitchen was so cluttered, it was hard to see...

From Cheryl: I wish I could please everyone but as tastes vary so much- it's impossible. Some, find my decor, warm, comfy and inviting and others messy and cluttered. There is an advantage in looking at our website pictures, before making a reservation, so that you know what the decor is like, My kitchen is very cluttered at this time...

We stayed in the suite, addressed as the "Honeymoon Suite". Nice enough, rose petals on the bed and floor, chocolates. Special therapedic adjustable mattress didn't work, no a/c, just two windows would open in this top floor A-frame room, and we asked for extra soaps, etc. in the bathroom that we didn't receive. All for $230 a night...and then we...

FROM Chip: I must have tried some humor that went awry and I’m sorry that I did not pick up on any feedback to tell me I was overstepping. I often play with guests and tell them that I can guess what their question is before they ask it. I went too far this time and I’m sorry I did....

Our recent stay has blown away all my original expectations of this establishment. Having stayed in the Pennsbury Inn made us feel truly priviledged. Everything from the exceptional service to the rustic atmosphere of the three-century old house with all its historic artifacts were an attraction in themselves, in my opinion. The room was cozy and the beds comfy. Fresh...
