Detailed Reviews
Opted for this location instead of Shawnee Inn for this trip. Since my previous visit some years ago, it is under new ownership. Currently undergoing renovations and I’m guessing recovering from the pandemic. Still, quiet, clean. I loved the very comfortable bed. Close to the hiking area I frequent. You will have to go elsewhere to find dining as of this writing, however.

I called in advance to book a room on Thursday for a Friday and Saturday night stay, I explained to the owner that I was booking the room solely for the purpose of use of the pool and spa. On Saturday morning I called to ask the manager if the pool area was ready for use? The owner or manager David told us that we couldn’t use the pool then quickly said that we could use it from 12 but had to be gone by 4 because they had a private party from 4-8pm I was shocked, David saw the look on my face and said to me “Don’t try to be a lawyer” my husband went to discuss some options, really trying to work with the manager. We asked if it would be ok since we came here just for the pool for my autistic son, would it be possible for a later check out the following day to use the pool. He started yelling and called my husband stupid. David had a very unpleasant attitude the whole trip. He was the only one working. He was bothered by us asking for towels. We came with 4 people it was a problem to get 2 very small towels from him. Also anytime we asked about the so called amenities that came with the stay, David told us that he didn’t want to heat the area because it expensive to run the inn. The beds are extremely hard. The rooms are dirty and covered in mold. Nails sticking out of the wall. I wish I knew who to call so that they could be investigated I’m sure it can’t be legal to run a hotel this way. Felt very uncomfortable the whole stay. David has a way of making sure you know he really doesn’t want you there. And he seems to be the sole employee

We had a poor experience at this motel. The gentleman who checked us it’s was very pleasant but that’s about where the positive points end.
The room we got had mold in the shower and sink. The paint in the bathroom ceiling was peeling off and the light fixture had dead bugs in it. The blankets smelled like cheap perfume. There were hairs on the linens and towels; red and black- my whole party has brown hair. The lights were covered in dust. And the smoke alarm was missing.
The entire property is dated for sure. I can’t knock em for that. The mini fridge in our room looked older than I am and it took well over a day to get cold (it was unplugged when we entered the room ). Very disappointing as we were traveling with a baby who needs her milk kept cold.
One of the two beds was unusable. It completely sank in the middle. The other bed was fine and the pillows were surprisingly comfortable. Big and firm, not those faux fluffy ones that collapse to nothing when you put your head on it.
We got the impression the property is in the middle of you updating. Our room had wood floors which was a happy surprise! And the TV was modern with a large option of channels. Free wifi is available with decent connection.
We did not enjoy that the lock and chain on our door looked like it had been tampered with in the past.
When we ordered delivery, our delivery driver expressed he didn’t realize the motel portion was even still in service anymore as he frequently delivers to the rental houses on the property and never sees anyone there…
When we went to check out I was fully prepared to express my concerns and complaints to management only to find no one manning the front desk and a basket with a note saying to drop the keys there.
We will not be returning.

We stayed one night at the Holiday home on property (4 bedroom, 2 bath) which has a fire pit and hot tub. It was a wonderful stay and the family was so nice at check in. The house is huge and plenty of space to eat and sleep. There is wifi and it is clean. The views and green space is great as well for our dog. Thanks again!

This place was great! The new owners are so sweet! We stayed there this weekend in one of the cabana rooms. It was quiet, room was very clean, pool was awesome, hot tub was awesome, the young man at reception was really nice! We explored the grounds a bit too. Really nice to see a family getting this place back up and running. Keep rockin it!

I spend 30-50 days a year traveling and I have NEVER seen a property in this BAD of condition. My family and I decided to just find another place, we did not feel safe. Please see my pictures, they are REAL. This is such a nice area and at one time this was probably a nice place (1950s). The toilet in the lobby is positioned where everyone can see it through a fading tinted window. There is not a WORKING pool. PLEASE, skip this property if you see it on Hotwire. I have been to all 50 states and was coming back to Ohio from my seventh European trip and have never seen anything worse than this. As much as I tried and wanted to like this place I need to warn others, DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY on Hotwire, who ever owns this place is using fake reviews. I plan on contacting the city about the condition of this property. I kid you not my pictures are real.

The owner is a disgrace. He’s rude bias, and racist. He is also downright nasty.. I couldn’t find him to check in had to wait for him to accommodate us for over two hours. The rooms are disgusting and moldy. The walls are absolutely disgusting. You could hear people having sex right through them. This is not a child nor animal, friendly hotel.. The TV doesn’t work. This place is not fit for a roach.

I was shocked when I turned off route 611 to the property entrance. There is a very large abandoned multi-story building at the front that is falling down. Half way past the haunted house the barracks looking rooms are in rows of buildings on the right and they are in disrepair. The whole feeling is of a slum. Our room was clean, but had a strong musty odor. Paint was peeling from the bathroom ceiling. There was a single lamp in the room. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The 10/10 and 8/10 reviews have to be from the owners and their friends and family. A 3/10 rating would be very generous.
