PROS: Beautiful location! Great hiking/walking trails nearby and an eclectic group of local fixtures who frequent the "night club" on-site.
Safe space for queer and LGBTQ+ people looking to visit the Poconos.
Right on the side of Mt. Nebo this resort offers rustic vibes and breathtaking views.
CONS: The website for booking is a bit complicated and misleading. I was in a group of four visiting from NYC and we booked a cabin with adjoining rooms and a bathroom in the middle, I even confirmed this was the set up by calling the front desk. Upon arrival we weren't even greeted and we were told that we should have booked another room initially (which was unclear on the website) but they don't have the one we originally booked available. We ended up having to pay double what we initially thought we would and they accommodated us in a different cabin right behind the bistro.
The pool and hot tubs are closed for the season as is the gym, and sauna (a detail that was not mentioned in the booking description).
When we entered our cabin the floors were very dirty almost sticky and the shower knobs were almost coming off the wall and were difficult to work. The beds were made with flat sheets and not fitted sheets and there was a tiny beer fridge. We stayed in what they considered the "executive" suite however it was right outside a common bonfire space so we could hear people socializing well into the evening. The fire place was not cleaned from the previous guests and there were no fire tools to light a fire in the fireplace. We opted to use the fire pits outside but we had to buy our own starter log and fire fluids from a store.
Most of the lamps in the cabin didn't work, under the couch cushions we found trash from a previous guest-- a very large heavy glass coffee table collapsed while were were playing a board game on it and it nearly broke my friend's foot (we had to pick up the table and set it to the side so that no one else got hurt).
Overall the biggest hindrance of this resort seems to be the management or mismanagement rather.
There is a lot of potential because the location is beautiful however, I don't think its currently worth the price we paid.

Very disappointing. We are not crazy picky travelers and stayed here on a motorcycle trip to see the Delaware Gap area. That said, I was shocked by the room quality.
Negatives: The website is misleading and the property is no longer up to the standards displayed in the online photos. The property seems to currently be managed by someone with low standards. We stayed in the Cherry House and the building was so humid and musty (making it smell like cat pee). There was no working AC in our room because the outlet did not work. They did, thankfully, eventually send someone with an extension cord so we could plug the unit in. The TV did not work, there were no hand towels or bath mat, and the toilet paper was 1/4 ply. The water pressure was non-existent. No mattress cover or fitted sheets and the flat sheet provided slipped off the stained mattress while we were sleeping.

We tried to get a drink at the "bistro" but sat at the bar for 15 minutes and no one came to take our order, despite staff coming behind the bar and seeing us. The menu was pretty sad so we did not eat while there (if we'd even have gotten service). The website says checkout at 1pm, but it's actually 12pm.
Pros: the pool looked nice, though we did not get to use it. It closes pretty early. The porch on the main building has tables and chairs and it's where we spent most of our down time because the room was so middling.

It's great to have a LGBTQ spot to go, but "resort" is a long stretch. This place could have been so much more with a little TLC and good service.

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. We were the only 4 people in the place. Not a single table was set but the girl who greeted us said we could sit anywhere. We found a table with a clean table cloth but no settings. Food was average. Med rare burger was easily med well. Bloody Mary’s were simply Mary mix and vodka. Not a single garnish whatsoever. Waitress barely attentive. Spent her time sitting around with a child rather than make up the tables. We think there was a server change because a guy served some of the food then he served our check. So disappointing because I had great memories of this place being so nice and it could be incredible. No reason to go back.

This place was disgustingly dirty and run down. I have been hearing and reading for years about how they have renovated the rooms, the Cherry House, the king rooms etc, but I honestly don’t see what it is they have renovated. To call this place rustic would be unjust, unless you are using “rustic” as a thinly veiled synonym for filthy. The bathroom had black mold growing on the shower floor along with a drain that was covered in a ball of other people’s hair. The shower head had red mold growing on it, which is easily cleaned with a little bleach spray and a rag... something the cleaning staff might try to address. I honestly wished I had brought flip flops to wear in the shower. The room itself had months worth of cobwebs in all 4 corners, and the closet shelves and drawers bottoms were filthy. I actually had to clean the room when I arrived and checked in. At the price they charge to stay there, I should not have to clean the room when I arrive.
The bar/club was not much better. Upon arrival we were told that there was no heat in the bar. Their solution was to place a propane tank with a heat bulb attached to it in one corner of the room, next to the DJ running karaoke, as all of the patrons wore coats and scarves all night long.
On the up side the staff is friendly as are the patrons who were there, but the facilities are in dire need of cleaning and updating. Again, I fail to see where all of the renovations that they boast about are taking place... they are certainly NOT in the guest accommodations.

I made the biggest mistake staying at this hotel. My room was cleaned by two housemen who soaked down the floor with pure bleach. Upon entering the room i did smell the toxic chemicals but figured it would go away after it had dried up. The room had a broken AC unit, there was garbage left in the room and the fridge was full of takeout food and soda drinks. I then opened the window to air the room out but whoever mopped the floor dumped the bleach water so the smell of the chemicals was returning back into the room from the opened window. Moments after i started to get a headache and felt dizzy and so did my spouse.
There was no phone in the room to call the front desk.
I immediately thought, if this is how they maintain their rooms and cater to their guest i wanted no part of staying at this hotel. I then proceed to get dressed and saw my black socks had turned pink from the bleach. My husbands black colored joggers turned pink as well. I immediately checked out with the front desk who had zero empathy at all. She then handed me a key adjacent to the room i was trying to check out of. Till this day, over a month later i have not received a follow up from the hotel after several messages for the manager on duty. Expedia has been zero help to assist with this issue on partial or full refund. I don't recommend anyone to stay at this property. The have zero knowledge of how to run a hotel.

Where do I begin? First, I tried to fix my issues while on site, and by calling 10 times since my stay, not counting the times either no one picked up or the call was cut off. I could not get anyone to speak with me and try to resolve these issues: 1) hall and room floors were DIRTY. Just not vacuumed. 2) Trash littered throughout grounds. 3)No way to darken room - blinds do not close properly, no curtains, cracks in door, between door and jamb, and around transom above door. 4) No stopper for tub or sink, could not do my hand wash. 5) Toilet did not flush properly, tub did not drain properly. 6) No stand by bed for electronics or light. 7) Requested early breakfast, was denied. Arrived at 9am opening but nothing had been prepared. Later a plastic bag of supermarket bagels was tossed on table. When I opened a 2 pound slab of butter, I discovered black mold completely covered one side of it. I could go on, but I won't.

This was by far the worst place I have ever vacationed at in my life and I have traveled plenty in my 46 years of life.

This place is totally dilapidated. The pool and surrounding deck area was filthy and most of the chairs were broken. The garbage dump area behind the suites was disgusting and there was garbage strewn all over the place. (and I say the word “suites” very loosely because a stay at a motor inn would have been an upgrade). The light in the bathroom didn’t work so we used a lamp from the desk in the bathroom. The removable shower head was placed about 8ft high so you couldn’t even reach them.

There were approx 3 people running the whole place. Moon and Francisco were truly amazing. Moon did everything from checking me in to taking food orders, cooking the food, bringing the food out to the pool, cleaning rooms and bartended at the club til 2 am. Talk about a 10am-2am shift which is absolutely absurd. Call HR!

The bar was never fully stocked. You couldn’t even get the type of alcohol you wanted. The “continental breakfast” was abysmal and a complete joke. Dry bagels and lump of cream cheese sitting out and maybe a few pastries and bananas. There were never any plates. You had to use napkins if there were even any out. The coffee was good surprisingly.

I will never come back here again and I highly suggest you don’t either. I’m surprised the health board hasn’t shut the place down.

Went 4-5 years ago and it was much cleaner and busier. This time it was close to a zombie-town with almost full availability the day we booked and came for a night. (mind you on a weekend at that) Now we know why. The place is filthy dirty, from the hot tub with brown water and skin floating by to the rooms with trash still on the floors and busted blinds on every window. One of the few guests we ran into that was also staying there likened it to a bad horror movie setting. They literally pegged us not to eat dinner there saying it was so bad we should order off site instead… so we did. It’s a shame because there is enormous potential, but the reasons this is a one star are almost too many to list. BTW even if you are staying there, they charge you either $5 or $10 to use a towel for the pool depending on which staff member you ask… that’s of course assuming they are not sleeping on the couch in the lobby snoring the afternoon away while you wait hours to check in for them to “clean” a room that you eventually receive a complete mess. I could go on but not enough space.

Anxious for a “gay resort” we went to The Rainbow Mountain resort for a weekend in AUGUST 2003 (not 2019) and thought it was horribly filthy place! The kayak launch and pond was full of green slime! Rooms were so small and dirty! I wanted to give it another chance to see if it had improved but after reading recent reviews, it appears as though it is worse than ever. The only positive I can say is the meals were excellent back then. The room was so small, I remember crawling over the bed to get to the other side of the room! I really wonder why this place was not shut down.

Friends of ours had a bachelor party here for the weekend. 35 of us attended and occupied rooms varying from a king Motel style room to rooms in the cherry house. We stayed in a king room and upon checking tried to take a shower. The shower head fell off the wall while showering. it was difficult to finish showering, and upon leaving, we did see a maintenance man who did go in and fix it immediately. Other friends, who were in different accommodations were not so lucky as some of them had no running water for one of the nights. On Saturday evening we all had dinner in the restaurant. The menu that was given to everybody who dined that night, which mainly was only our group other than two tables was terrible. They knew we were coming five months in advance, and to put together a menu like that that evening is a disgrace. Halfway through my meal I got up and left and went somewhere else to eat. The only bright spot of the evening was the night club. We all had a fun evening in there but if it was not for our 35 people in the crowd on a Saturday night the night club would have only had 15 people in it. This is my first visit in almost 20 years and we were shocked at how bad it has gotten. I would recommend staying somewhere else and not eating in the restaurant and possibly visiting only the night club.

No, there is not. There just basic rooms with tv with a cabin feel depending on which room you choose.

Don't know. I stayed in the main original lodge. There is a straight staircase up to the second floor. Upstairs rooms there are not accessible for those in wheel chairs. There are ground floor options elsewhere though.
