We wanted to make a short trip to Erie from Pittsburgh just to explore the town and chose Glass House based on price and location, an easy couple of minutes drive to Presque Isle and downtown Erie. We definitely made the right choice. The room was very clean and pretty, the bed was comfortable, the grounds were immaculate, there was a gazebo to sit and talk and it was very hot so I sat poolside with my legs in the water, which was clean and clear. In the morning we went to the dining room for a simple do-it-yourself breakfast of cereal and milk. They also offered granola bars, mini donuts, bananas and of course coffee and tea. This is a small hotel which offers just the basics but it was just enough for us. Heck they even have screen doors on the rooms which felt very small town friendly. I found it charming and will stay again next time we visit Erie.

We've stayed at this motel before. It has since been remodeled which makes it even better. It is a quaint motel that is quiet (we could not hear others in rooms on either side of us) nor could we hear traffic with windows closed. A continental breakfast is included. It has a refreshing pool and gazebo and area with tables and chairs around the pool. You can park right in front of your room. The room was very clean and the bathroom was very updated and nice. It is near Presque Isle, Waldameer Park, and shopping. I would very much recommend this motel. It is very affordable.

Had a great stay! The room was clean, and I felt safe throughout my visit. The gentleman and lady at the front office were very kind and gave me great recommendations for local restaurants. Parking was perfect, and the remodeled rooms were really nice. Breakfast in the lobby had a great selection, with lots of delicious fresh fruit. The only issue was that dogs from a nearby neighborhood barked like crazy until about 11 PM and started up again around 6 AM, which made it a little tough to sleep. Other than that, it was a good experience, and I would stay again!

I am sorry to say that this place has gone downhill since I visited 5 years ago. I wasn't sure whether to rate as 2 or 3 but went for 3 due to some good qualities. It is a safe place to stay, there is a new AC unit that worked well, and the bathroom has been updated. Also plenty of new pillows. Wifi worked well. There is a microwave and the refrigerator could be updated since the freezer part doesn't really exist anymore.
So what are the negatives? Mattress was old and every time I moved in bed the headboard beat against the wall. I finally stuffed a pillow between the headboard and the wall and that stopped it. The sheets were old and bed was not well-made. I wondered later in bed if the sheets had been changed. New sheets would have a freshness to them that would have assured me that all was well. Updated bedside lighting would have been nice. Also although the new shower was awesome there was no place to put soap or shampoo. One of those accessories that hangs on the shower faucet would be a good thing to buy.
I had heard that the continental breakfast is not very substantial and it doesn't start until 7:30 so we passed.
There is a pool right beside a busy highway. Screens or panels of some kind could be added to add some privacy.

Room was clean and floor clean... bathroom, bedding and floors were updated from older photos on this review site - I slept well. The only issue I had was the adjoining locked door that went to another room I could hear the conversation of the mother and kids next door- while in the room - I would like to have seen some pretty flowers out front like in some of the other photos posted here but there weren't any from what I remember. I can't comment on the pool as I didn't use it at all but there were people enjoying it.

Very friendly managers - keep in mind they do live on the property as you can sometimes hear family while getting continental breakfast, checking in, etc.
I like nice people though and they are, the managers. The continental breakfast was Bananas, brownies, pastries, granola bars, hot water for tea and coffee and juice. Bed was comfortable and clean as well as comfortable pillows. Hot rooms in breakfast area until AC is turned on and a room to room interior window opened. Then it cooled off and was nice.

Overall I enjoyed my stay and would go back and stay again. :-)

After a long 10 hr drive, we pull up at motel, it’s pretty, lovely landscaping. The office is quaint , eccentric. The man checking us in was very friendly, made us feel very welcomed. Check in was fast.
I booked this motel according to all the great reviews, and the pictures online, I couldn’t wait to see the retro bathroom with the old green tiles, sit in the big leather recliner, have a dining table to eat at.
We entered our room, only to find out that the green tiles in the bathroom have been removed and the bathroom has been remodeled with marble looking walls and no tub, just a remodeled shower. The bathroom is extremely small. There is zero room to put any personal toiletries in there. There are no shelves, no soap dish or towel racks in the shower, so when your showering you have to put your soap and shampoo on the shower floor, no minds went into planning this shower! The water pressure is minimal. Then when you get out of the shower there is no where to hang your wet towel, unless you take down all the clean towels that hang on the one towel rack, then what do you do with them, throw them on the floor? The grouting around the bathroom looks like a ten yr old applied it. The bathroom window opens, only if the crank was present, which it was not! We like to leave the bathroom door cracked open a bit to provide a nightlight during sleep, but this door does not crack open, it automatically swings back open all the way.
We had a room with 2 double beds. The headboards are not quaint as pictured, they are attached to the walls, not the bed frame. The bed frame is on the old steel frames with wheels, the floor is not carpeted, which causes the bed to roll every time you sit on it or move in it, not a little bit, but a lot, very frustrating. I do have to say the beds were very comfy.
The flooring is new wood tile, but again shabby work, a large area of unmatched tiles, must have used left overs from another room? There was no dining table and no recliner and no sofa in our room. We had one stool and a very small hard chair. We had to eat our pizza sitting on the bed.
The TV is very small, looks silly in the room.
We opened the windows, which are ancient old, then at night we could not close them, wouldn’t even budge a little. So ended up sleeping with the windows open and the A/C on.
There is a one cup coffee maker in the room, but no plug near it to plug it in. Had to take it into the bathroom to use it.
Small fridge and microwave were well appreciated.
Benches outside rooms were a nice touch, but they need some small tables next to them to place your drinks on. Oh and to top it off, no clock in the room.
The staff were extremely friendly and provided whatever you asked for with a smile.
So when looking at the pictures online, don’t be surprised if you don’t get any of those things in your room. We were very disappointed , we will not be back.

Our family has been going to the Glass House Inn since about 1985 when we found it by accident when we couldn’t find any place to stay around Presque Isle on a weekend. We have been going there every summer two or three times ever since. Now our children are going there with their children. It has always been well maintained, clean, quiet, with a nice pool, but now Nic and his family have recently updated the older vintage rooms and bathrooms and they did a really good job. WOW, its hard to believe they are the same rooms ! They have kept the outside quaint look using local various perennial wildflowers growing along the walkways by the rooms you can appreciate while you sit on their wooden benches. So if you are looking for an updated modern motel room, that feels like a home away from home, the Glass House Inn is a good place to stay.

Wonderful place to stay for a quick getaway! The room was newly updated and very clean upon arrival. Hotel staff was great. Quick to help in any way they could. Always friendly and asking how you are and how the day was and if they could improve in any way. Gave great suggestions for new places to try for lunch or dinner. The light continental breakfast was perfect to grab a quick snack before heading out to the beaches of Presque Isle, which this Inn is super close to. The pool area was wonderful and a refreshing change from the lake. It was always clean and inviting. I will definitely be going back and staying again as well as recommending it to family and friends!

My family stayed at the Glass House Inn, Erie Pennsylvania on June 8th 2020. 2 adults, 2 children. We found the Glass House Inn after searching on line. We were looking for lodging near Presque Isle state park in Erie. Also wanted a smaller facility, local innkeeper. The Glass House Inn offered both...plus an outdoor pool.

The Inn is an older style facility, one floor with parking just outside the room. The property was charming, long benches outside the room, flowers, a porch style light at each door. Very well maintained.

First thing I could not help but notice when entering our room was how fresh, clean & inviting it was. I felt the stress of our drive melt away. I've travelled quite a bit and lodged at both local and big box hotels and will say that our room at the Glass House was the freshest, cleanest of all. Clearly, the (very friendly) innkeeper takes much pride in the property. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. THANK YOU!

This motel represents great value. It's not new or luxurious, but is well located and gets the basics right, including free WiFi, a comfortable bed, clean room, and well-maintained property. The owners and staff are friendly, responsive and competent. The bagged breakfast and nice pool area are added bonuses.

There are a few detractions inherent in the older structure, notably the walls are not the most soundproof. As others have mentioned, the bathrooms could use an update (and higher shower heads). As non-smokers, we wish smoking would only be permitted away from the rooms - like perhaps in the pleasant gazebo. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
