SpringHill Suites Erie provides a hospitable stay, with guests often commending the service for its friendliness and helpfulness. The recently remodeled, spacious rooms add to the welcoming atmosphere that many reviewers celebrate.
Guests have called out the hotel's amenities such as the 24-hour coffee service, satisfying breakfast, and a clean pool area, although there's mention of some required maintenance. However, opinions on cleanliness and value show a divide; while rooms and common areas are typically found to be clean, issues with housekeeping and dissatisfaction with compensation for discomfort have been noted.

Pros: They have plenty of parking, so you’re not jockeying for a spot. Our room was spacious and comfortable. They have coffee and tea available at all times in the lobby. The complimentary breakfasts were outstanding. Nicole went above and beyond to ensure that our expectations were met during our breakfast hour! We also had premium coffee during breakfast, which was helpful due to a nut allergy. Last year, one of the gentlemen at the front desk printed out a list of local restaurants for us, which he compiled himself. It is very helpful!
Cons/Suggestions for Improvement: Pool area could use some cleaning/updating. The pool water could also be warmer. It would be nice to offer some sort of flavored water in a dispenser in the lobby throughout the day. Adding some fresh baked cookies in the evening would also add an extra level of sweetness!
Overall, we enjoy this hotel and won’t hesitate booking here again!

We arrived to a bustling lobby. A soccer and a baseball tournament weekend. Kids everywhere. The pool was closed (entire weekend). Neither of the 2 TV’s in our room worked. There was no ice in the ice machine. Breakfast was very good, and the front desk staff was really wonderful. They were friendly, suggested eating venues, provided information on sites to see and places to enjoy. In the midst of general chaos, they kept smiling, and offering us hospitality. The hotel was clean, and an early outdoor visit found the area to be spotless, even though the previous evening it was party central to at least 100 young kids and their parents. Kudos and thanks to Melanie, who kept her cool under chaotic circumstances. She managed to control a very, very busy lobby and desk. And she did so with a smile on her face and a genuine love of guests in her heart. We will remember the crowds of kids, the cleanliness of the entire property, and the hospitality of Melanie!

Shout out to Nicole! The excellent service from Nicole during breakfast is outstanding! She's quite a hustler making sure there are clean tables, food is full, coffee is full, all while smiling and answering various questions from customers. Exactly the person you'd want on your team! The whole staff is quite courteous and responds to requests in a very timely manner. 4 star because of the lavender soap, shampoo & conditioner in the room and no other option, elevators seem to be need of maintenance or ThyssenKrupp needs to up their game, Less tables in dining area but as I write thisn, there aren't enough!

I was thoroughly disappointed in my stay at this property. I have been a Marriott member for years and never been this disappointed with a property. My family & I were in town for a family member's funeral. The room I was given was not clean. The ice bucket still had water (or something) in it from the previous occupant, the shower had not been cleaned, the pillow cases had iron burns and holes in them, the comforter was dirty and also had red stains on it in multiple spots, the mattress pad was torn up badly and could be felt through the sheets. On top of all of that, when we went to open the pull out couch for my niece to sleep on it was dirty & had bugs on it. The comforter in plastic in the closet was dirty as well. I was told the hotel was at full capacity so we could not change rooms. Also there was no staff available for cleaning & no manager to speak with until the morning. I carried the pillows & comforter down to the front desk to at least get clean ones. And were unable to shower before going to bed and had to wait until after 9:30a the following morning for someone to clean it. The housekeeping person who arrived to clean the shower had a rag and a spray bottle of cleaner and apologized for the "weird film" in the shower that they were unable to completely clean. This hotel experience added unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation. At checkout a $50 credit or some points was offered which hardly begins to compensate for the inconvenience, added stress, & disgust. The property doesn't seem to be recently renovated (maybe it is not complete yet?) and they definitely need training and more stringent standards for housekeeping. The only reason I gave 2 instead of 1 is because of couple of the employees were very kind.

We stayed here for 2 nights in April. When we arrived our room was clean and a nice room. In the room the bathroom sink did not drain so we used the bar sink to brush our teeth. We left the second day at 10:00 am and told the cleaning people in the hallway we would be gone most of the day so they could clean our room. We returned at 3:00pm and the room was not cleaned. We stayed for an hour and when leaving again I went to the front desk to let them know our room had not been cleaned and we would like it to be. She responded that she didn’t know if anyone was still around to clean it but she would check. She did not check because when my husband called later she said she would check and sighed about it. She put him on hold and then said she found someone who could do it. It was disappointing to me that when I (female) asked nicely nothing happened, but when my husband called it was handled. We usually have great service at these hotels but this was disappointing.

We stayed this past weekend for my sons hockey tournament. Worst staff ever! Everyone was mean and rude! Someone over dosed in the hotel. Also cops were called because a person was in the hotel roaming the halls who did not stay there ! Then lastly but most importantly we got charged an extra fee of $250 for “smoking “ WE DO NOT SMOKE!! No one we were with smokes !! They said they found a pop bottle with a cigarette butt in it in our garbage can. It was not from us again we don’t smoke and not sure how it got there! How do they know it wasn’t there before we got there! Or maybe it was even from one of their cleaning people!! we do not smoke, and I don’t even like to be around people who smoke because I cannot stand the smell. I have cerebral palsy on my right side and a blood clotting disorder that I shouldn’t smoke, and I wouldn’t wanna smoke because of it so they weren’t even trying to understand where we were coming from and just kept accusing us of smoking and again I cannot stress enough we do not smoke! Also the manager of the hotel Kimberly Miller was very rude, so rude the rudest person I’ve ever had a conversation with please do not give your business to these people.

Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. I am sorry that someone smoked in your room, while it may not have been someone in your family it may have been one of your guests and we are a non smoking property. As stated, rooms are cleaned between each guest and we do not charge a smoking fee unless evidence is found. In your case there were indeed cigarette butts found in the room along with the smell of cigarettes.

We were going to spend one night at this SpringHill while passing through the area on our way back home from Vermont. Unfortunately due to some issues, we had to leave the same day we checked in.
When we arrived, I was greeted by a very strong chlorine smell in the lobby. It didn’t really affect me, however it was highly noticeable.
We then checked in, the young man working the front desk was unprofessional and rude. He didn’t really acknowledge us and refused to answer any questions we had about the area and property. It sadly was more of like a McDonald’s arrival experience.
We then go up to both of the rooms we were assigned, one on the 4th floor, the other on the 3rd floor.
We open the door to room 412 and was greeted by the most overpowering air freshener/cleaning smell, (I’m pretty sure it was bleach or something) it was really bad to the point where my eyes started burning and got a horrible migraine. It was as if they were trying to cover something up. I’ll put it to you this way, I was only in the room for two minutes, by the time I left my clothes smelled like the chemical.
We then go to room 322, the other room we were assigned. As soon as I opened the door we were greeted by the same exact overpowering air freshener smell. It’s clearly like they’re trying to cover something up in the rooms.
We then go back down to the front desk and were greeted by a friendly older woman. She was very kind, apologized, and cancelled our reservations with no penalty.
Overall, due to our experience I don’t think we’ll ever be back. If you have asthma or any autoimmune condition do not, do not stay here!!!! Otherwise, if you love the smell of chemicals and overpowering cleaning products this place is for you!

Stayed here for 2 nights, good location by the Millcreek mall with plenty of options for chain restaurant take out, grocery (GE and Wegmans), and shopping right off the Interstate. 2 Q suite - queen sized beds in hotels always look more like Doubles to me than full queens. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the showerhead was good, towels were fluffy and soft, and we appreciated the provided bulk sized Paul Mitchel shampoo / conditioner / shower gel which is more environmentally friendly. The mini fridge had no freezer component but I don’t find these work well anyway. There was a full size microwave and a small bar sink which was nice to have when multiple people were getting ready at the same time. The Smart TV was great and the sofa couch was reasonably comfortable with additional seating provided by the desk chair. We did not use the sofa bed so cannot comment on this. We would have preferred wood floors which are easier to ensure are cleaned, especially given the winters in Erie with lots of snow. We felt bad for the hotel staff who were constantly mopping the lobby floors given the amount of dirty snow that were tracked in by guests. The bagged breakfasts in the morning were as bleh as they have been at other similar hotels, but I appreciate they still tried. Ours had a bottled water, single granola bar, and a packaged muffin. There were small yogurts available as well as bananas, oranges, and apples by the coffee. The kids appreciated the ability to use the pool by a reservation system, so even though the time was limited it was completely private. My complaint is there were many people using the lobby / gathering area of the hotel who clearly were traveling together for youth sports and were not following recommended COVID safety guidelines of masking or distancing. This prevented use by others who may have wanted to use that area while masked. It also made guests arriving uncomfortable to have so many people present who were flaunting current protocols. The Marriot app is great with the electronic key feature and you can avoid all personnel contact if desired by checking in / out via the app. AAA price was similar to other hotels in that area.

Stayed at Springhill Suites on July 8 2022. Rooms were very nicely remodeled, BUT room was filled with dozens + of large carpenter ants crawling on nightstand, phone, beds, floor. Staff was unable to provide another room, provided ant traps at 1130 pm, offered to let us leave with 2 toddler to find another hotel, at no charge! No other rooms were available, per the front desk staff. Left 2 voice mails with the so called managerwho was not available on weekends, and never heard from her. Wrote to Marriott Customer Care center, still awaiting a response. Horrible experience, that the staff could not handle and the manager was not available to assist with. Absolutely & incredibly unacceptable!

Employees at check in were very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and very spacious. The location is in a prime spot for all things you may need, a lot of fast food and sit down restaurants very nearby, along with a grocery store in the same parking lot basically. Would recommend, in fact I'll be back there again next week for business.
