Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We were in town to hang by the water for a day/night before the Summer ended, and it happened to be the same weekend as Comic Con at the Convention Center next door. Even with that attraction, and at least one wedding on site, we didn't experience a bandwidth issue in service.
The location can't be beat, right on the water, next to the convention center, very close walks to several different outdoor dining options.
The service was excellent. Grace at the front desk took care of us both days, including allowing us to spin the prize week for being Bonvoy members (which we won two free breakfast vouchers on). The breakfast vouchers were redeemable at the Starbucks kiosk onsite for legit specialty drinks, and breakfast food. Grace also acknowledged our Gold Elite status and helped us out with extra pillows and a couple sundry items. We felt very taken care of there. The staff at the Starbucks kiosk was also very friendly.
You have plenty of options to grab some food and sit next to the water, which we did several times.
We'll definitely consider staying here again based on all of the above, and despite the items below:
The room (a Junior Suite) was not a great layout. We really don't care about suites, but wanted a waterfront view and it was the only one left. It was a horsehoe with a small living room on one end the bedroom on the other, and the bathroom in the middle. It was just too spread out, and the bathroom (and accessible) was a little weathered. Unfortunately, the room also kind of smelled like dog. I'm not sure if this is a pet friendly hotel or not, but our room kind of smelled like it was. We did not complain about it, and it wasn't overpowering, we just aren't dog people so it was noticeable. I also got a couple extra pillows but they were pretty lumpy. I didn't have a good sleep, but again, I would attribute it to having a room design I didn't really want, and not hold it against the property.
One other note was that due to the convention, we were forced to park on the top level of the adjacent parking garage, which was no big deal, but Saturday night when we were eating outside at Bay House next door, all we heard throughout the evening were motorcycles and cars in that garage. The next morning when we were leaving, there were two Mike's Hard Lemonades sitting next to my front tire. The videos from the Sentry mode showed several groups of kids just congregating and partying on that level of the parking garage. Long story short, I'd recommend parking on a lower level if you can, or try to move your car into the regular parking lot before dark.
Again, we will definitely stay here again. Grace's service, and the location of the property will see to that. There's also a great inside/outside bar in the lobby. Highly recommend with those couple suggestions.

After my last Courtyard Marriott experience in Shreveport, I swore against Marriott but this trip was already booked.
I’m glad I had this experience as it restored my confidence that the Courtyard brand is a viable option.
I still think there are some quality control issues Marriott Corporate must address, because there should be more consistency! Business travelers should have the confidence to know the brand maintains certain standards regardless of the location!
I’m still nervous to book future travels with Courtyard Marriott, but this stay in Erie, PA. was a 10 out of 10!
Pros:
1. Great waterfront location 2. Ample free parking in the covered parking deck, or parking lot. 3. Well lit entrance and exquisite, contemporary decor. 4. Fast, friendly check-in. 5. Awesome restaurant and bistro. 6. Beautiful room, and amenities within the room, any business traveler will appreciate.
What an awesome visit, and if I ever visit Erie, PA again, I will stay at this Courtyard Marriott!
Cons: None

Excellent stay!!! We were unable to get the the hotel until about 8 p.m. The front desk person, Grace - very kind and friendly, notified us that we had the last room on the property and that the TV was not working. She gave us free breakfast and a discount on the room, which I was happy about the amount that was discounted!! Grace was very pleasant and accommodating. We actually enjoyed not having a TV and enjoyed the peace and quiet!!
Room was clean and comfortable and it was so nice to see the hotel busy with families and four legged family members!!! It is a great location, food is excellent and it is so nice to sit outside and enjoy the view by the water.
We are going back in two weeks for Gannon's homecoming!! This past weekend we stayed at a nearby hotel and it was just not as nice as the Courtyard Marriott Bayfront. We are spoiled by everything the hotel has to offer!!!
You won't be disappointed staying here!! We had our wedding guests stay at the hotel last summer and all was great!!

First we had to wait extra time to get into our rooms. We had 3 rooms and my mother and father had one too, so a total of 4 rooms and 2 of the rooms were not available at 4:30 pm and check in was at 4:00 pm. We got into our rooms and three of the rooms were full of spiders. I killed approximately 60 spiders between the rooms. The spiders in each room were in various states of development. The windows on every room were absolutely covered with all sizes of spiders. Our room had spiders inside the windows. My brothers’ room had baby spiders coming from the vent in the bathroom. My in-laws room had spiders on the bed, but not quite as many. When we first got into our rooms we saw room service down the hall and asked them to see what we needed to do. The lady called on the radio and said there would be an engineer coming up to take care of the problem. Two men from housekeeping engineering came to my brothers’ room to check the problem. They had a small handheld vacuum and vacuumed the location of the spiders. Then they moved to our room and the vacuum was not enough to capture the spiders so he had to catch the spiders in tissues and I had to swipe down a nest of spiders! We were not comfortable with them spraying either room because of an infant in the first room and my pregnant wife in the second. He said he would let the managers know that we had a problem in our rooms and someone would call us. Unfortunately, that never happened. Every time we left and came back there would always be more spiders when we returned. There was also pubic hair in our bathroom when we first got into the room, fingernails in the carpet, and the bay side window was so covered with spider webs, dead spiders, and bird poop it was too disgusting to even look out! My family has all taken pictures of our stay. I am not one to just complain. We took a mini vacation and thought we would have a beautiful place to stay at the Marriott as we always do until this time. If you would like to see the pictures, let me know where I need to send them. I am not happy at all with the Marriott we stayed in and don’t feel like we need to be charged or any of our points used.

We stayed for 3 nights for a couples getaway. Our stay was not very relaxing. The bed sheets were dirty and the whole bed and pillows smelled like dirty hair and sweat. We did not opt out of daily room service which meant we would've had clean towels daily and our garbage emptied. Not once during our entire stay did we have this service. We complained about this to the front desk and all we were asked is what room we were in. We had to ask daily for clean towels, empty our own garbage, and sleep in the dirty bed. At the end of the 3 days, all our dirty towels remained in the room. Upon checkout, we told the front desk about these issues, and all we were told was "my apologies", The only nice thing about the room was the walk in shower in the bathroom. The hotel does not offer complimentary coffee or tea. There is a place to purchase it in the lobby. It is very overpriced and one of the workers is very rude. There is also a charge for parking which should be included if staying overnight at the hotel. The view from the hotel and the area surrounding it are very pretty, but there are other hotels in this area that have to be cleaner and not so overpriced. This hotel is priced up there with luxury hotels without the luxury.

My husband and I had our wedding party stay at this property in July of 2023 and everything was fantastic. However, upon our return in September for Gannon's Homecoming, we asked for the room from our wedding night. They said it was not available due to some problem with the room. So we got the room next to it.
Upon entering the room, there was a terrible odor. Not sure what it was. I went down to the front desk to see if there was another balcony room, and there was not. I asked what they could do so they discounted the room 50%, which I appreciated.
They sent Marco in to spray the room with some type of deodorizer and he set up a machine to help with the smell. Marco was awesome!!!
After dinner, we went back to the room to head to bed. There was a spider on the ceiling and it looks like some type of wrapper that was under the desk area that had not been picked up from the previous guests. The room also still smelled.
I went back down to the front desk to see what could be done and they said there was nothing they could do except give us another room. At 8:30 p.m., we were too tired to move rooms, so we stayed in the room and Marco came and got the spider and wrapper. Like I said, Marco was great!!!
The smell stayed with us our remaining time there and it was hard to get a good night's sleep because of it!!! It seems to be hit or miss with this property. Also, the rooms are pricey. For the price of one night, the rooms should be in better shape.

The room was very, very small and it was a "deluxe" room but there wasn't anything deluxe about it, the price vs size of room and accommodations were incredibly out of whack. I've stayed in hotels for $100 a night where the rooms were 3 times the size and fed you breakfast for it. The coffee packet was terrible and there were 3 coffees but only one single serve wrapper of sugar add ins. There were only 3 pillows per bed instead of 4 which was odd and not enough. No tissues in the room, it was all out. The swimming pool was like an oversized bathtub. It was a joke, every single guest walked up to it and stood in amazement and stated how they totally scammed everyone with the photos of the pool online vs what it actually looks like in person, honesty leaves people much less disappointed. There were SOOOOOOOOOOO many unsupervised children in the pool. I went with my 2 children and there was an entire hockey team of 10 year olds in it acting out of control and 2 parents who did nothing at all to tell them to behave, they just trampled my children. Then after they left, a very young woman came in with about 8 kids and they just ran around SCREAMING and jumping off of every surface high and low into the pool. That part was a nightmare and getting away to swim was the only reason we came along with my husband on this trip. The officer/guard who occasionally walked by was nice and friendly and we chatted, but he never went in to say anything- not sure that was even within his job description. However, the view from our room was beautiful. Parking was rough. Would I stay here again, maybe, probably not, the cost vs accommodations doesn't warrant it for the view, we like a pool, and this was again not much bigger than a hot tub.

TSchleg, thank you for taking the time to provide such a thorough and thoughtful review. I can assure that your experience was not typical for a stay at our hotel. We also experienced difficulties in controlling the large groups of children that were here during your stay. We hope you will give us second opportunity to delight you should your travels bring you back to the Erie area.

My wife and I were overall pleased with the Marriot. Our standard by which we compare is with Hampton Suites. And overall it compared favorably. Comfort was great, beds, pillows,etc...all good. Our bay view was fantastic and exactly what we had hoped for when making the reservation. We had a king accessible suite. While the shower was great (walk-in, spacious) there were small things that made it less than ideal if you're disabled. The handheld shower was oddly placed and difficult to manage while seated on the provided wall mount seats (which were very well installed and super sturdy). The "brake" that's supposed to hold the head in place on bar position didn't work and was only about half useful due to that. The wall mounted wire shelves for soap, shampoo, etc...were also not oddly placed, unless you're very adept at reaching over your shoulder and behind you to feel for what you're needing. We were disappointed not even a continental breakfast was included, especially at over twice the price of a Hampton Suite. A couple overall minor complaints, but for comparison and value's sake, I think Hampton would've been a better choice for us.

We stayed in September of 2021 for 2 nights in what was supposed to be a king bed room. The bed was not comfortable and the room itself was very small. The view was enjoyable but I don’t believe it merits the cost of the room. The parking garage is quite a haul from the hotel so make sure you bring everything you need. There are a handful of parking spaces close to the front door that are meant for loading and unloading but we ended up just going to the garage since it didn’t seem like anyone was utilizing the spaces as intended. We did receive the complimentary breakfast each morning which wasn’t the greatest but more than the average bagel/waffle, mini cereal breakfast offered at other hotels. Getting around is a little confusing if you’re trying to locate the pools which we did not end up using, it rained and the indoor pool was small. You will need your room key to use the elevator which can be a bit tricky when carrying luggage or bags. The bar/restaurant that is located in the lobby near the check in desk made it a little hard to hear the staff at the front desk as it was very loud at the time. No problems with the staff, they were very helpful. I don’t imagine we would stay at this particular hotel again unless there was a serious decrease in the price, I’m not sure exactly what we were paying for to justify the prices charged.

This is a very beautiful hotel but super disappointed that some 20 months after the pandemic started this hotel is STILL not cleaning rooms for stayover guests. Yes, that’s right if you stay 3 nights your room won’t be cleaned at all. This is unacceptable and provides a great savings to the hotels bottom line. I get it, the world is understaffed but you need a better process this far in. At a bare minimum the staff should be required to mention this to EVERY check in. We paid for an upgraded balcony room, I would recommend asking for a straight on bayview vs. the side of the hotel where we were assigned. Also, I would consider the season… we never went outside once. Lastly, why isn’t there headboards? They use these foam stand up pillows if you will and it really cheapens the room experience. Hotel restaurant is a bright spot for sure! Great food, amazing service and very affordable prices for hotel food and drinks.
