Xishuangbanna Zhouji Hotel is really a hotel that you don’t want to leave. The green plants here are so beautiful! The 400-acre large garden took a full day to visit and even took photos. The scenery is excellent, and the service staff are also very good at their work. I will also strongly recommend to my friends that you must come to the InterContinental Hotel in Xishuangbanna to experience it in the future!
An exotic feeling hotel, with some beautiful spaces to take pictures (which seems to be the main activity - sadly - for travellers in Xishuangbanna). I stayed here for 4 nights, check-in was fairly smooth, although a cheeky comment about whether the gym was part of my normal routine or not, was not hugely appreciated. A very large hotel, quite dated, but with spacious rooms. My room had a comfortable large bed, a huge bath (the plug didn't work - but they did fix this promptly) and a lovely balcony area. Unfortunately, there were so many palm trees outside of my room it blocked a lot of the natural light, so the room was always quite dark. I loved how the aircon automatically turned off when the doors opened - helping the environment 😊 I did not have breakfast any day as I was up and out early, and with limited vegetarian options I ate only once in their Chinese restaurant - where the chef prepared a special meal for my dietary requirements. The bar area, well, wasn't a bar, but the lobby lounge was a wonderful space and their iced coffee was a real treat each day! The children's pool was closed for maintenance but the indoor pool was available. Location was good, I was able to travel to everywhere quite simply using DiDi (although they will not take people to the Botanical Gardens). A particular thank you to Lee, who offered excellent help in English when I was unable to get any transport. Overall, I would recommend this hotel as a good base for exploring Xishuangbanna 🌴 ☀️ …
Didn't stay here but as we heard great things about the afternoon tea, we decided to try it. Although there was no English speaker around it was no problem ordering and we settled down in the airy venue. Of course tea comes on a tiered display stand accompanied by a cold glass of champagne and your choice of tea or coffee. The cakes were colourful, varied and fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed spending a couple of hours getting fat
1. Hotel/Room - big hotel in a large garden type layout. Rooms quite far from lobby, a bit of a maze. Deluxe king bed room - large and comfortable. Didn’t have a note pad/pen, minibar empty, no TV channel list, shower wouldn’t drain and wasn’t sealed properly so water ran into toilet room, no turn down service, no fruit gift. 2. Pool - indoor 25m pool set up for swimming laps but is very warm. If you want to relax around the fairly large outdoor pool, forget it - there are a few sun loungers but hidden under cover and zero service. You even have to wear a swimming hat in the outdoor pool (despite the fact that the trees and plants are dropping leafs etc. into the pool). This was the biggest disappointment. Basically pointless to even have such a pool. 3. Restaurants - the Thai/Dai restaurant was really good, large portions. Breakfast is more of a “pile it high sell it cheap” scenario - no “fresh” juice, bad coffee, no ability to request eggs done a certain way (over hard or nothing) 4. Staff - all polite and friendly, no complaints. 5. Would I return? Probably not due to the ridiculous pool situation. Don’t come here if you want a place to relax around the pool and have a couple of drinks!…
Because of the pandemic, we couldn't travel out of China so we settled on Xishuangbanna. It does have a different feel to the rest of China, but still has the conveniences of China (such as Didi). The IC is located a bit outside of town, so there are very few delivery options- we often had to taxi in town to pick up food because the prices at the hotel were very, very expensive. There are no restaurants or stores nearby. The hotel itself didn't feel like any IC I'd been to before; it felt a little older and not always well maintained (for example, the steam room in the fitness center didn't work; the TV channels in the room were very grainy, Wifi wasn't good and I had a lot of trouble connection to a VPN- this was not the case at the Crowne Plaza just across town). In-room coffee was just instant coffee packs- a hotel faux-pas in my book. But when I asked Snowy at the front desk, she scored us a Nespresso machine for our room. I really appreciated that! I agree with other reviews which said "lower your expectations"- this isn't a new urban Intercontinental with all the amenities. But I felt the service was good; everyone was friendly and outgoing which isn't always the case in other parts of China. Eric Rao and Snowy stood out for their excellent service. At check-in, there was a tour bus that came in when we did so there were long lines, I went to the back of the line for IHG elite members (I just have Platinum with IHG) and was told by staff to wait in the other line. This seems to happen a lot with IHG in China- the rewards line really doesn't make any difference, they take anyone first come, first served. Not a big deal, but then don't bother having the special line, right? Check-in was slow (maybe 10 minutes per customer), but that's typical. Maybe it's just all the paperwork. Check-out was a breeze. I was pleased that the hotel gave us breakfast as IHG members. IHG's program is weak compared to others, but this property treated us well. We were denied a room upgrade, but the breakfast made up for it, in my opinion. The rooms are large, as are the balconies. A table on the balcony would have been a nice touch, but there is a desk in the room. In general, I felt they could have more seating and tables around the property. When we picked up pizzas, we tried to find a place and the dining room was kind enough to let us use the outdoor tables. I found the staff to have a nice, can-do attitude when we made requests. The kids club was great- lots of activities. They didn't allow parents to drop off kids, but it was still spacious enough to allow parents to relax while the kids played. The outdoor pool was great, but very cold. It's so lush around it that there's little sun on the pool. That's great in the summer, but not so great in the winter. The outdoor kiddie pool was empty and their didn't appear to be any hot tub either. Overall, this is a good property and the staff is great. We used points (20k/night) so I was happy with the value. Honesty, paying the room rate of RMB1200 seems a bit high to me, but in off-peak times, it might be more reasonable. Go in with reasonable expectations and you'll have a great stay in Banna.…
The resort has nothing to be ashamed of: infrastructures and activities are not disappointing, and are numerous enough to allow yourself to enjoy your stay at the hotel...however, the period of stay is what matters the most: having spend 5 days here in december 2020, the resort was pretty much empty has there is no particular Chinese celebrations during these month, and i guess this is why the hotel staff was clearly disappointing. I prefer to warn you before you live this by yourself: ordering a plate will imply a 45minutes wait period before the dish is served on the table, communicating with waiters, even when I speak a good level of mandarin, is close to impossible. To conclude, the service quality is extremely poor and cheap. However, bed rooms are very good, and beds offer an amazing comfy night for each customers. Thank you, and my advice will be to choose a period that isn’t off-season in china, or don’t choose this hotel at all as the service quality, which makes at least 50% of your stay at the hotel, is along the worst hotel services and staff I have ever seen after all the hotel I had the luck to go to during my life. Kind regards, A disappointed customer.…
I’m a very very disappointed for this hotel. I thought it was a excellent hotel and very beautiful. But firstly It’s very very difficult to find your room because there is too much block. The service is very bad like very very bad. We wait 40 min for club sandwich and after that they came and tell us that there were not club sandwich anymore. Lastly I wanted to say except all the bad things that the fitness room is very good there is everything you want. But it’s was very disappointed
This property fits right in to the overall Banna theme: Had its day; not worth a visit. Service fluctuated between somewhat helpful and non-existent. Room was not fully clean when cleaned and was sometimes not cleaned while we were out. There was still a section of carpet that had not been vacuumed for our entire stay. Items that were used, such as coffee packets, were not replaced. There were Nespresso pods, but no coffee maker. Our room keys also mysteriously stopped working at various times. Nearly zero English amongst the staff we encountered. Breakfast options were limited and repetitive and room service consisted of a dozen or so options. Lounge was closed, so used lobby bar with limited and unclear options as well, despite well-meaning bartenders. Coordination of trips and transportation was also challenging with a monolingual concierge team. We appealed to the Guest Service Managers several times with mixed success. Overall, I’d give Banna a pass. If you do come here, and suppose this is your best bet, be prepared for a dated property with mediocre food, cleanliness, and service. Our IHG Ambassador status also didn’t seem to make any difference in terms of service, upgrades, etc. Disappointed.…
It is a very beautiful hotel. The room was large, luxurious and stylish I was treated so kindly and made to feel very special from the attention received. The staff is more than happy to serve you, especially Ms. Elina Wang with great passion and considerate arrangements.
It’s certainly lovely and lush environment and very photogenic spot however did not meet our expectations. Layout of the hotel is very impractical. Swimming pool as much as beautifully looking, does have any seating area and all views to the swimming are blocked by lush vegetation which means that it is impossible to watch children while they swim. There is no place to sit down and put your belongings and you need to walk to the other part of the complex to register to enter the pool with no access to seating. Swimming doest have life guard. Shallow part of the pool is blocked off. There is no pool bar/cafe so it’s not possible to order drinks, so most of the days we ended up skipping swiming at all. This is not something you would expect from international chain. Service is lovely but not trained and completely helpless. It takes ages to order drinks and only all day eating hall is open despite Mid autumn holidays and hotel being relatively busy. generally we hoped spending few relaxing days but ended up going out for whole days as it was very inconvenient to hang around the hotel. Morning and evening buffers are large with great selection of Chinese and foreign food but do not expect evening drinks as bar staff is not trained and there is shortage of most basic mixers. …
