This is a charming hotel in the small medieval town of certaldo. Located on a hill top overlooking the Tuscan countryside .charming centuries old surroundings ,however the rooms are somewhat small and cramped , but very clean . Sarah makes the best pici with garlic sauce and freshly made tomato sauce as well

What used to be a lovely restaurant in a delightful setting has been reduced to a poorly run place to eat where the food is sub standard! This service is charmless and the pace of service resembles a fast food diner rather than what should be a high class restaurant. If you're thinking of going - don't! Your disappointment will... We have just spent 5 wonderful days at this historic, yet comfortable Osteria. The building is fabulous and the views from the terrace are the essence of Tuscany. We enjoyed top quality local food and wine and fantastic service throughout our stay. We hope to return next year.

We visited Certaldo, as we had been told it was a nice quiet walled city near where we were staying. Basically, the town is almost shut down in November. We were there the first week of November and only found two restaurants opened for lunch. We opted for Osteria del Vicario as it looked like the best choice. While our... More

Like other writers, we were just visiting Certado for the day ( our Satnav struggled to find the upper town!) a really nice place with lots of places to choose from for lunch but we were so glad we stumbled across the Osteria Vicario Having been in and around San Gimignano for a week I would have to say this... We went to Certaldo as a leisurely day-trip from Florence. After walking and breathing in the beauty of the upper town, we happened on this Osteria. We're so glad we did. We were the first ones there for lunch. The server could not have been more helpful. She even suggested a wine from the region (always important to us) and... More

The location for this restaurant is very nice and the decor, layout and service were all good too..... ....however, the food was very disappointing especially since the prices were higher than any other restaurant in the whole area. It seemed as though the chef had seen lots of pictures of food from fancy restaurants and so was very good at... More

First let me say that if I was going back to Certaldo this is where I would stay, although staying there when we did was something of an experience! They weren't really open for the season at the time, even the restaurant was closed, but they let us stay there anyway. This old building has a lot of character, with... More
