I had a bad experience the first time I stayed here a few years ago, but was so pleased that I tried it again. The room was very nice, even though the bathroom was noisey, the bedding clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and the lady who served us, Cilla, was vey helpful and friendly. I will certainly stay here...

We arrived late on a Friday and the staff were very welcoming. Dined in the restaurant, the food was exceptional and the service even more so. Cilla took care of us throughout the evening and the poter Robbie was a true gent and made our visit even more special!!! Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay We arrived and received great service throughout our stay with a relaxed and warm charm from all staff We thought our dog friendly room was pleasant and spotless. We loved the evening meal, from the delicous crab starter to the chocolate dessert -superb. Plenty of fish enjoyed by my family too truly fresh and tasty ingredients....

The review disappointing was for old bear in hungerford and am unable to delete so please ignore. Bell excellent food, service, friendly & accommodating staff - second stay since November. Excellent scenery adjacent to Abbey, gardens and river walks. Lots of parking, comfortable sitting rooms and open fires - great to relax with a coffee or alcohol! Dog and child...

I thought I was out of luck when my first hotel choice was fully booked, but I was so wrong! I knew I was in for a treat when I saw the general character of the place when I stepped in, lots of comfortable living areas to choose from to work in. Loads of history too, not to mention the...

good stuff came here for 2 nights at end of January to enjoy the open fires in all the assorted sitting areas. Beautiful hotel throughout, old-fashioned and unpretentious. Nice garden area (though too cold and wet to sit out it was nice to see as we went along the glassed-in corridor to our room). We had a quiet room in...

The hotel is part of the ancient abbey and dates from 12th Century. Our room was large with gothic windows looking out to the Abbey and the village. We had a super king sled bed that was really comfortable and the furnishings were very much I keeping with the building. The bathroom was the largest I have every seen with...

We had dinner the week after Christmas and not only was the food really poor but the restaurant is now let down by mismatching furniture that would be more at home in a Little Chef. The staff tried their best but it took an age to get served and the food was just bland and uninspiring. This is a beautiful...

This is a very old (as in historic and not run down). We arrived and managed to check in early as we had a wedding the same afternoon. The staff could not have been more helpful. Prior to the wedding we went to the bar for a couple of cheeky ones. The barman Sam was pretty chipper. its always nice...

Reluctantly I am giving only 2 stars as our stay was really poor. We ate here with friends about a year ago and the meal was fantastic, so good we said we must return. My wife has not long gone through some medical issues so we decided a night away would be good. We booked a room in the main...
