Excellent for a last minute booking. Room comfortable and spacious and bed very comfy. The hotel serves a nice variety of breakfasts. We stayed for the sunshine festival, much nicer than camping. The hotel is smack bang in the middle of Upton so perfect for any visit. Only downfall was that the carpark was very tight knit, but the parking is a bonus.

This hotel needs a make over along with the staff , they are quick to tell you they can't change anything because it's a listed building which is absolute nonsense more like a lack of investment. Have say that the breakfast was good shame about the decor.

We have just returned from a 2 nights stay in this quirky, beautifully quaint and welcoming hotel, which dates back to 1510. Michelle and Michael have just taken it over and they - together with their team of Flo and Richard - are a credit to Upton. The breakfast was delicious and lots of it and their Donnington ales and lagers were full of flavour and refreshing and are very well priced! We didn’t have chance to enjoy an evening meal, however the menu was full of delicious dishes (homemade steak and ale pie for one!), so that’s on the list for our next visit! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

We called in here for dinner one evening and enjoyed a very pleasant meal. The staff were friendly and the food was good. Afterwards there is a nice lounge area with comfortable seats. We would certainly dine here again.

Very pleasant lunch / bar snack served with care and pride. I enjoyed the homemade pate with toast and fresh salad . My friend enjoyed the duck ,, nothing to complain about . We kept it simple as we were off shopping ! Very pleasant staff and pleasant people in the bar who were locals and used it regularly because it was consistently good.

We enjoyed our 5 day stay at this unique hotel. Family run with staff that were kept on through Covid you could not ask for better service or meals with an amazing breakfast that is included and served in the restaurant of this Tudor building. The pub and seating area is cosy offering a wide choice of beers on tap. Lunches and dinner are home-cooked by the chefs and very tasty. Friendly atmosphere we felt right at home both at The White Lion and Upton on Severn with its phenomenal Folk Festival and lovely people.

Called into the White Lion Hotel while visiting my parents in Upton from Australia. A brief visit on 07/04/22 for a Cappuccino & again on Saturday 09/04/22 for mum's birthday being invited for lunch by my parents neighbours. Excellent menu choice & didn't have to wait long to be served, delicious food & good portion size meals, a few of us ordered a dessert & hot drinks afterwards with a mix of soft drinks & alcohol on arrival. Mostly served by Richard & a big thankyou. Very reasonable menu prices.

Stayed for one night as a stopover. Upton proved to be a very nice little town on the river with several pubs and The White Lion Hotel on the High Street. It is a traditional hotel with lots of character, well maintained by the current owners. It has a 'gold' lion above its pillarid entrance. We had a lovely, very comfortable room to the rear and slept well.Breakfast was superb. We did not have dinner but it has an excellent reputation. Service was attentive and overall the hotel felt inviting and relaxed. Parking on site is a bonus.

As non-residents we’d booked a table for Sunday lunch and found both the food and service to be top-notch. Value reasonable too at £25 for three courses (not bad for a hotel). Unlike some Sunday lunch venues there is a fish option (today halibut: recommended) and two veggie alternatives.

Needs a bit of renovation, looking a bit tired. Decoration was quite dated, worn carpets and out of date bathrooms. Staff were lovely but thin on the ground, the waiter was also the bar man and reception! Food was ok, but pricey for the content.
