Booked via a site which advertised hotel with luxury double rooms. Arrived to find entrance was down a scruffy back lane with key code entry. We had received an email while travelling telling us code as hotel is not staffed. Secure car park was not secure and did not have cctv Opened door to see dried blood smeared up inside of door and filthy carpets. Fire alarm went off at this point and we were greeted with people exiting the building shouting up the stairs that such a person had been smoking weed again and set alarms off. We were advised by someone passing they were turning alarms off and to go to our room. Found our room after negotiating stairs that stank of weed to find a small room with what was most definitely not a luxury double bed. The room was definitely not luxury neither although it looked clean apart from cigarette burns in carpet and bathroom shower cubicle was all cracked with trim lying on floor Needless to stay we left after ringing and asking for a refund To be fair, after explaining what we had found we were given a full refund Not recommended as a place for a family to stay and it’s not part of the pub below so can’t access pub as a guest. More like workman’s digs and I Say this without wanting to insult any hardworking workmen

The hotel is difficult to locate, but finding the entrance was more so. The car park was very difficult to find, and really tight so ended up parking on an alternative one as it was so badly lit. Very low mobile signal area so getting keys, although a good idea in general not to have a reception, checks should be made to ensure the system works properly. Also very tight area at the entrance for collecting keys and people coming in and out. Lots of stairs to negotiate but rooms were functional and clean. No WiFi passwords available. Not value for money

I was working in Barnsley and booked the Churchill hotel. The room was priced just right I payed 45 pound a night, in return I got a very helpful owner from speaking to him when booking, explained everything about the keys which made it very easy, I also got a modernly smart room, nice clean bathroom, there was free parking right next to the hotel, which has cameras on. Only downside was a pub underneath which got quite loud but then again it is a pub.Shops nearby on a high street 2minutes walk. Would stay again.

I hate writing this but the rooms and access where fine .We booked here because it was my partners birthday and we booked to see a play at the Dearne valley playhouse. On our return to the hotel there was a man stood outside the door with his trousers open he never said a word just sneared at us .we entered the hotel and by this time I was scared , we locked the door of our room at about 1 o'clock I was awoken by the strong smell of cannabis and loud voices outside the door they were smoking cannabis outside our door and arguing I didnt sleep a wink then needless to say I won't be returning .This place needs some sort of security. There was also fag burns in the carpet

Had a one night stay, not great . Struggled with the key code to get in and once in the building, struggled to get the key out the key safe with the code. They is no disabled access and struggled getting up the stairs to the room. No parking which was awkward for my partner to walk far and then struggle with stairs. Room was nice and tidy , wouldn't stay again, simply because of access to property and no disabled access

Friendly staff and a very nice clean room however it smelt strongly of stale cigarette smoke - horrible !! If I was staying for more than one night I would of said something or asked to change rooms. I ordered food downstairs. Cheesy fries which were tasteless and a cheese and bacon burger which was really nice however the bun was cold and would of been so much better if it was grilled like most burgers are. Food 6/10 I would use this hotel again though and I’m grateful for the price I paid - £38

Whilst I only live, just 3 miles away. I use this hotel for my convenience. When doing business locally. It has secured Parking, Wifi, reasonably priced, and beautiful rooms. The reception is at the bar. And what a bar!! To the left of the reception, is a, ‘Chesterfield area’! Comfortable, warm, & relaxing. Staff are more than welcoming, they do their upmost throughout your stay. Although breakfast is not available, at this time. The evening Meals, (Spanish Tapas). Are fantastic!! The staff whispered to me, in the very near future, were to purchase a ‘pizza oven’ and do our own pizzas. (I’ll try one of those next time). Which want be long.

Stayed here for a Saturday night and what I got for £36.50 was amazing !. The room was large enough for me, and came with a really comfy double bed and a functional ensuite bathroom. The room was immaculately clean , and despite the fact its over a bar I didnt hear a thing. No food was included but there is a Wetherspoons round the corner !. This is a hotel I would stay in again !.
