Lunched here after walk on Inkpen Common, friendly greeting and good service. Great, well kept local bitter and very tasty food from long menu with interesting choices. Great centre for exploring local countryside on foot or bike. Lots of seating options for different sized groups.

Six friends and I stayed here back in October when we stayed at the Inn for the the night. The owner and staff were really kind helpful and obliging. We enjoyed the beers and hospitality before exploring the rest of Hungerford and returning later in the evening. When we returned the night manager was so friendly, stayed for a drink...

Thank you very much for your review. The staff are always pleased when satisfied customers take the trouble to write a review. So many people have a good or excellent experience but very few leave reviews. Unfortunately anyone with the slightest problem or perceived problem seem always to leave a review!

Was recommended by some friends so decided to meet family for Sunday lunch and as we quite often do wanted to take our dog along. The good beer guide said the pub was dog friendly but just to make sure when I booked the table I asked if it was ok to bring her along to which I was told...

The Good Beer Guide does not say that dogs are allowed in the pub or the restaurant. Our bar manager taking the booking and was not asked if dogs were allowed. We do allow well-behaved dogs on the terraces outside as long as they are kept on a lead and the owners clear up behind them! When this party left...

The Christmas period is rapidly approaching and we all need to fit in the meeting of friends to exchange gifts etc. Nothing better to meet in a nice cosy pub for some nice food and catch up... After spending an hour or so on the web I decided to meet some friends at the Swan Inn near Hungerford. Based on...

I took issue with most of this reviewers wife's review posted as "Very disappointing". I take issue with all of this review which bears no reality whatsoever to their experience. The last paragraph accurately reflects the fact that we have a number of positive reviews and several 5/5 ratings by more than satisfied visitors-many from around the world. They were...

We went here for lunch and found this place extremely disappointing for many reasons. The inside was cold despite two open fires. I guess you could call the decor 'traditional', 'old fashioned' or 'shabby' depending on your point of view. There were very few customers in here on a saturday lunchtime so there was little in the way of atmosphere/ambience...

I take issue with most of this unfair review. The central heating was on full with an additional heater in the restaurant and the open fires. There were over 40 people in the bar drinking and several also eating. We are in a remote location which is the part of the attraction for many but one can not expect many...

Managed to get some lunch before close of service. The pub can either be seen as characterful or tired. The service was non existent, our first drink was served by the friendly local. The food was ok, rather salty and not at all cheap. Maybe ok if you are in the area but I think there are a lot better...

Disappointing to see this review particularly as we provided food after the kitchen had just closed. As they acknowledged one of our locals started to serve drinks but our bar manager arrived while he was doing this and dealt with the orders. There were no complaints made at the time and we do not understand the reference to salt since...

My wife and I stayed four nights. The owners were away, so it was left to Andy, a local agricultural worker, to manage the place - assisted by Victor and Lucy, a Spanish couple. It's a decent village pub with an organic-food shop attached, and our breakfasts were exemplary. Our twin-bedded room was clean and orderly, yet it did have...

I checked in for one night with my 8 year old daughter. No real reason other than to escape High Wycombe for a while. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I found the staff charming (Helen, in particular) and the locals we met were friendly and welcoming. One even took us to the nearby farm so my daughter could...

Lovely Inn which is full of character and characters. We found it very welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean and tidy and fulfilled our requirements. Will certainly stay again next time we visit Hungerford We ate lunch there which was a very good standard for pub food. Situated a little further outside of Hungerford than we expected but the...
