Lovely summer evening, nice walk along the Thames, let's have a drink at the Bull! "Dry white wine please - yes a large glass" "Pinot Grigio or New Zealand Sauvignon?" "Sauvignon please" "That's £9.30" Embarrassment - don't say anything, this is Sonning after all. Later after eating, queried the price - "you asked for our most expensive wine" "No we...

I have been travelling to Reading on business most weeks for the last 2 years and after trying other big name hotels, I attended a dinner at The Bull and became aware that they also had a few rooms. I tried it and have been there 3 or 4 nights each week since Sep 14. It is a beautiful old...

We hosted a dinner for 23 guests to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It was a big success! The staff were very helpful, the room was perfect, and the food was excellent. We had two bedrooms for our family that night. We had a great stay.

Situated next to an old church in one of the most beautiful towns on the Thames showing by its architecture it's amazing history. Go back in time and visit today. A great experience. Parking is limited so you will need to park further up the road.

We stayed here for a weekend and really enjoyed it. We have read some reviews about the quality of the rooms but we had no complaints. The place is old by its nature so no point expecting a modern 4 star hotel. The rooms are a little dated but the bed was very comfortable as were all the facilities. It...

I stayed at this inn for tasting the atmosphere of the English country inn, as described in Jerome's "Three Men in a boat", and fully enjoyed it. The old English style inn is very appealing to our sense of nostalgia. I am sure to come back some day in the near future.

The Bull has the location and atmosphere of a country inn, yet it's easily accessible from almost everywhere. This could be the rural getaway location you have been looking for without travelling for hours to get there.

We stopped here with our Labrador on the way to Hampshire. It's a beautiful beamed pub which was very busy on a Sunday lunchtime. Our dog was welcomed and water bowl out ready. We sat outside ordered drinks and a light lunch, were served very quickly considering how busy it was. Both our lunches were good value for money and...

Quirky rooms. Not for you if you want all mod cons. Steep stair to rooms. Very small facilities in room. But we loved it. Excellently located for walks along the Thames or in the quaint village. Pub has been xcellent outdoor area. If you are very tall, prepare to stoop.

Very pleasant old style pub with good range of real ales. Sat in the rear of the pub and enjoyed the pork and ale sausages and the nachos. Slight criticism would be the lack of sides with the meal but the flavours and textures of the sausages was excellent. Nachos ok without being distinctive. Busy lunch service did not detract...
